  1. Always pick up my empties when out shooting and I have quite a collection now and wandered if shooters generally weigh them in or just throw them out? have hundreds of .22LR .17HMR and a hundred or so .223 I expect.
  2. No Longer required got one today .22LR for Sale shortly if anyone is after one
  3. Thought this was going to be one of the Mcdonalds Monopoly wins for sale then when I saw the Ad
  4. Also supplied alot of our Intel and Negotiated bogus deals with the Argies with more Exocet to slow the replacement of the ones they were firing. Similiar case now they may not be directly involved in Libya anymore but I bet the Intel and Air-Air refuelling etc will be US. Ref friendly fire in Libya. Well for the UN to say they will not apologise and it is not for them to establish comms with the Rebels.. Surely that is a priority if you want to help them advance and defeat Gaddafi's forces! Just shows how badly organised the UN are and why it is best they are used as a peackeeping force rather than an aggressor.
  5. Wouldn't help in this case as it was an SA80 used.
  6. I have an ILM Level 3 In management gained through the forces as we have a leadership school on the base. Alot of Civilian companies pay to use our facilities now on the base to gain the same qualification. 5 Week intensive course for the Level 3. A few Years ago I did a 2 week course and achieved a level 2 but a different awarding body then I think. NEBS in Management? I think it is very difficult to compare the Military ethos with a Civilian job. Alot of my friends that have left find it very easy outside and all have landed well paid £40K+ jobs in higher levels. I'm from an Engineering background in the forces and will leave with a BSC(Hons) in Engineering which does help. Another friend of mine has just started an Engineering job at Marine Projects in Plymouth as a temporary job until the Engineering job he wants becomes available with First great western and he finds it difficult working in the civilian world due to the set break times and generally slower pace of life. In the forces if your doing a job you crack on until its done not hear the break bell and down tools and come back once you have had a brew and a break with an engine in mid air on a hoist! Biggest thing that grips my **** with Civilians is timekeeping. If I say I will be somewhere at 18:00 I will be there at 17:55 to be sure. Alot of my civilian friends would arrive at 18:10 and this is the norm. Sense of humor is very different as well between the two. Not sure how many people read the leaving the forces post recently with an amusing list of 'do's & dont's' when you leave the forces. Worth a read
  7. Sent details to my mate
  8. I hate to see them with it and despatch any I see I dont like to see any animal suffer. At the weekend I stumbled across a rabbit I was convinced would have Mixxy as it saw me coming from quite a distance but did not run. When I got alongside it it was a very healthy size with no apparent problems but when it tried to get away it back legs were both completely useless Neck stretch later it was at rest but sad to see. Got me wandering it if was an early affect of Mixxy ?
  9. What causes us to follow the chain of command?.. I think the answer to this is Respect. From day 1 in the military you are taught about Respect and Authority. When told to do something by a superior the thought process isn't oh I must do that or I will get in trouble. (Although it is a minor factor). You do it because you have been told to and because it needs doing. If you disagree you do it anyway and if you have a problem with what you were told to do you take it to the appropriate channels. I think alot of the breakdowns with society now are due to a lack of respect and authority for people. I wouldn't have dreamt of speaking to adults the way I see children behaving now. The key is a structure and firm rules. It is like a well trained Dog to function well it must be well disciplined and treated firm but still with respect. Everyone needs firm rules and a structure I think to function 100%. We all like to please our Master and feel part of a team. When the team achieve good results its a good feeling all round
  10. Every day is a school day. Thanks for the info guys. By all accounts for their size pretty nails animals then!
  11. Are they a nuisance on farms etc? Sorry for the vague post shot this one on Saturday. I was out rough shooting and spotted it in difficulty (appeared to have a back leg problem) moving along a bank opposite me so decided to shoot it. It was covered in ticks on the back of its head. First time I have seen one so I was quite interested in the lifestyle and habits of them? Thought it was one of the two difference I have found online is the Stoat has the black tipped tail.
  12. Q. What's the difference between a stoat and weasel? A. A Weasel is weasily wecognised and a stoat is stoataly different
  13. Can anyone identify this little fella? Weasel? Or a Stoat?
  14. It is a fantastic news thread Blunderbuss Sadly it just shows how distanced the public are from our armed forces nowadays. I know Afghanistan and ongoing military commitments worldwide are unpopular with the public but do you honestly think we want to be out there?! I'm sure the thread would be different if talking about discount for those who served during WWI / WWII
  15. The Armoury comment was taken from Canis's signature. I don't doubt their choice to stay in fair play to them. I fully back the £10 Discount that brings the Armed forces discount that BASC now offer to the same level as a Student who pays little or no Tax. That is my point here. I'm in the forces myself and I'm not debating leaving the forces however it is nice to see BASC or any other companies etc offering discounts to serving members of the forces. What grips my **** is people slagging off the forces and Police forces. I offer the same argument to you if you dont like it you know what to do.. Join up! I'm sure for the sake of £10 you would rather return to your family every day and not risk losing limbs / life.
  16. Need to dry your eyes and cheer up. You are mad that there are parents parking spaces at the supermarket to help them unload children safely and more easily?! Should disabled parking spaces be scrapped as well then as they are close to the supermarket? I bet you pay less Tax than the average Serviceman anyway even though they spend a majority of the year out of the country. Most people learn early on in life that life isn't fair. Get over it. I think its spot on that BASC are offering our brave servicemen a small discount of £10 and I'm sure it will increase the amount of members in the forces by doing so as I have met a few who refuse to join due to the amount of time overseas so it isn't exactly value for money if they spend 8 months or so away from hobbies a year. Whereas someone with an 'Armoury' like yourself prob gets to go shooting at least once a week. Sad state of affairs when the public dont support our armed forces. I think our servicemen get a **** deal compared to students studying a degree in surfing or some other pointless qualification! Lets discuss the deals students get with Basc if we want to pick faults!
  17. Nice looking shotgun very surprised it hasn't sold yet
  18. ^ As he said that isn't right if you are promoted whether Local acting or official it still brings a pay rise. Increment rises also still occur at the moment just not the annual rise with inflation. Unless you have been promoted to ****house sheriff
  19. As BASC Membership includes Insurance for shooting and 90% of our armed forces are out of the country for 6 Months + a year (I.e they wont require shooting insurance) I think a £10 discount is ideal and not unrealistic. Much less chance of a claim etc.
  20. Beginning to wander if there was an .17HMR's in the South West. Sent you one back fella
  21. Well done BASC For those who are winging above get a grip our forces often put their lives on the line doing a job that many wouldn't want to do. Yes they earn a good wage but when you look at the risks and separation from their families etc its a deserved one. Last time I checked Farmers were on a fairly decent wage too
  22. Easier said than done prob easier to buy replacement windows from a scrappy and swap them over
