The decisions that affect shooting are done by the Government through legislation, of which we all have to follow. BASC challenges these “decisions” in the interest of all who shoot, and yes, not all are popular. Name another org that has the same clout that BASC has? Please don’t mention SACS or CPSA, as they simply offer cheaper insurance, which seems to be the draw for the bashers.

Quite! The BASC bashers have a decision to make. If you are unhappy with your BASC membership, why don’t you leave them, there are no locks on the doors and you will have lowered your blood pressure. And if you are not a BASC member, why are you complaining about an organisation that you are no longer a member of? The mind boggles!

I trust BASC 100%! It never ceases to amaze me the amount of BASC knockers that surface every time one of them finds some problem and looks for a whipping boy. As a Secretary of a wildfowling Club, who truly knows the value of BASC, when we have had problems with leases and any other concern, they have always been on the end of a phone or email etc. I guarantee you will not find that expertise any where else. (I’ll await the responses to say “I cannot contact them”) To harp back to Swifty and the lead shot issue, it’s gone, forget it. Increased pressure on Fieldsports is increasing and will continue to increase, and the only org than could possibly combat this pressure is BASC. If you seriously think that any other org will have the clout, the knowledge or the expertise to take that on, then give your head a wobble, as the biggest excuse I see for leaving BASC from the knockers is, “there is cheaper Insurance out there”. Tin hat is firmly on!

An effective moratorium on GWFG worked perfectly for Welsh wildfowlers for many years, but Drakeford and his drips decided to completely ban the GWFG from the quarry list. Vitue signalling at its best!

It’s not a ban but a cessation of shooting Pintail, Shoveller and Pochard, in certain parts of Wales, where webs counts indicates declines in these species, in these locations. Also restrictions on wigeon, with limits imposed upon clubs, again based on webs counts in that area. Yet observed numbers of duck and total bag returns by wildfowlers, indicate both are stable. All imposed by NRW under the precautionary principle. NRW the lapdogs of the Labour government in Wales are the thin end of the wedge, as shooting is on the back foot here in Wales.
