  1. I’ve played in India and it is a brutal place to play. Heat, humidity, pitches, crowds (not now during covid though) Root was excellent.
  2. Thanks. A DBS check isn’t transferable though. It is only valid for a specific ‘employer’
  3. I am sure the police could get there on a blue light run. Just tell them that doughnuts are on offer.
  4. Considering that the ‘volunteer’ could have come from anywhere, out of interest, how are their details recorded so that they can be contacted to get the second jab?
  5. Why not have people ready, on standby, to have the spare jabs, off duty police, supermarket workers, God forbid even teachers, rather than just panicking when you have spares? The optics of footballers getting vaccinated isn’t good.
  6. Whilst not condoning it the anger is explained by people frustrated at being locked up for so long and seeing what they think as people pulling strings in order to ‘jump the queue’. It does seem weird that it is being claimed that the players who received the jab were classed as ‘vulnerable’.
  7. I had a quick look at Gleneagles prices. 2 rooms/3 days B&B - £4K.

I was a Boris fan and was a Tory fan boy but am of the opinion they have ****** it up big time. Would any anybody else have done better? Apart from me probably not. But I wouldn’t do it for the PM’s salary.

The Government thinking = Do I have X deaths today or X + Y deaths at some point in the future when I might not be in power and therefore taking the easier, short term, option.

This is a sore subject for me. My wife found a lump in her breast last week. It was about 12:00 on Monday. She was petrified. Rang the (NHS) GP who said “come and see us next week, we are busy, covid/vaccinations etc”. She saw a private GP at 3pm, was referred to a private consultant who saw her the next day, had mammogram and all clear. So within 24 hours she was put at ease. Who knows what that timeline would have been under the NHS and what of it had been more sinister?

The only illness you can die of nowadays is COVID.
  12. £32 for 300mbs fibre to the premises. We run landline over internet now.
  13. I know it was on his bucket list but taking a long haul flight aged 100 is probably a recipe to getting pneumonia! Flying first class or not.
  14. Would it be a disaster? We’d eat less out of season food and that what was still wanted could come by boat. Regarding the NI border I am not sure there was any solution that was agreeable to both sides. You had the threat of a hard border with Ireland and the associated threats of the return of Republican violence. We are left with a slightly softer border between NI and the mainland and the threat of Loyalist violence. I can’t even think of a solution.
  15. I don’t do property so can’t comment first hand but of those I know who do it 50% are struggling with non payment. The others are OK.

I don’t recall anything near similar. Not whipped up into a frenzy by the media at least. But nowadays we have ‘media’ coming out of our ears.
  18. I think I envy people who have a relationship like that with their children. I can’t say I ever wanted to spend more time with them and I suspect they would say the same. Definitely now, when they were younger I don’t know. We went to Florida last year and it was OK but it was tense and it was always on the verge of a bust up from somebody. Saying that I wonder why we do holidays but we do! The ones that work best are where they can go and do their own thing and I lay on the beach/water ski/scuba etc.

I agree. I have seen people who previously were outgoing individuals who have become shells of their former selves through the media barrage of fear. And they are not going to revert when lockdown is relaxed. I fear they are scared for life. There ones I know like this are women and you said “she”. I wonder if it is a more of a problem for women?
  20. I was pointed to this site by somebody on here. https://globe.adsbexchange.com you need to use the ‘U’ filter in the top.
  21. Their winter is best if you don’t like it boiling hot. May-October. And better value as well.
  22. I’ll price that up and I reckon it will come close to two weeks in Mauritius inc. business class flights! I am considering seeing more of Scotland. I watched the first series of Outlander (is there a more gory TV series?) over the past few weeks and the scenery is stunning. But you need a guide to make the most of it I reckon.
  23. That was what prompted my original post.
  24. I don’t mind blowing serious money on a holiday as it is one of my few vices. But it’s got to be top notch and value for money and a week in the UK will never be that. Our ‘go to’ destination in normal times is the One and Only Le Saint Geran hotel in Mauritius. IMO you wont find better service and weather and if you go off peak (July/August is off peak as it is their winter) it is great value. Some would say expensive but I don’t think it can be beaten for quality/service/weather/food etc. Plus we’ve been so many times (which I know some people don’t like) that we get treated like family. I always cringe when I see ‘adults only’. I know what it really means but the kid in me immediately thinks of one big swinging holiday!
  25. The tight**** in me refuses to pay that.
