  1. My rear went in my Series 3. A lump of old half shaft (which another numpty had not removed) jumped into the planetaries and the whole thing just went BANG! Still have the photos at home. Result was no rear drive and , as above, I engaged diff lock and drove home (carefully & slowly) on the front axle. Luckily it wasn't far and the damage was so bad there was nothing left to engage and jam But it could 'possibly' have seized but I would most likely expect it to self destruct and explode through the casing.
  2. As Paul223 go to the LR4x4 forum. They have a thread running specifically on this! http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=22253 Paul
  3. I remember Out of Town and Jack himself. Always a nice bloke and relatively local to where I grew up so a few of us knew him well. As the series was filmed around the New Forest/Romsey area I'm sure Southern TV made the series.
  4. You may get it for fox control, but it is very dependant on the attitude of the force you come under. For example I have my .45LC lever action on ticket for fox (and open) in Wilts but Hants the next door county you have a cat in hells chance
  5. Does a scared pigeon count If its with the SG then I would say around 1:100! Rabbits with the .22 then 1:2 offhand
  6. I have a Steyr ProHunter in .243 with the 20" bbl. S/S PES mod fitted and groups fine and no measurable 'flex' in the bbl when shooting. As far as the reduction in MV due to the 4" loss. If you load your own you will not have this issue. Stock did flex at the front end but did not appear to effect the POI at up to 200yds but I glass filled it anyway, which stiffened it up no end. The only rifle I have to compare it to was a Tikka T3 Lite. Bolt action on the Steyr has a far superior action IMHO that's why I chose this despite the additional cost. Plus the Steyr came pre-threaded. The T3 did not so goodbuy to another £100 to get that done otherwise? Paul
  7. BP - 12kg is a lot and I thought the guideline was 13lb then they wanted special storage facilities (not the wooden box APU). Though that may have been 13kg and I'm having a senior moment. 12kg will last you an age and I'm sure Christchurch sell BP? My last 1kg (before the reduction to 0.5kg containers) is just about to be replaced after 5 years. But admittidly I don't shoot the .44 that much and most is used to fill .45 Colt carts I guess you have the necessary storage in hand to keep the FEO happy? Paul
  8. Wol, As to calibre choice it depends what you are planning to use it for really. You mention it is a 'replacement' for the .17HMR? Or have I grabbed the wrong end of the stick? If you are limiting yourself to fox and below (currently) then most areas will allow fox + vermin on a .223. This offeres a wide variety of rifles in this cal and is relatively cheap to run. If you are looking for a fox and deer suitable rifle (not red) then .243/6.5x55 would meet the task without a doubt. Unlikely you would get the nod for anything smaller than fox with that Paul

  10. Thanks , am i right in asuming these go on your firearms certificate or would it be shotgun being smooth bore im a little confused, Just iv'e been offered a really nice one and im seriously thinking about it A smoothbore musket is treated as a shotgun whereas a rifled 'musket' becomes section 1 and has to go on your FAC. What have you been offered? Paul
  11. If it is the old Jap made Tasco World Class/Series then I had one in something like 4-32x44 for many years. They were actually very good and streets ahead of the current Tasco product. But if it's not then 'Bay it. But as you are fitting a Pecar the................... n Bargain rifle then? What was the 'haggle down' price or are you going to keep stumm? Paul
  12. Stuart, Site used was Copehill Down or as it is commonly known, the German Village just West of Shrewton on Salisbury Plain.Tthat was deffo the one where they tried putting 'hits' on him when in the McLaren SLC but if you are referring to the stuff Clarkson'd head up through the trap door and scare the living **** out of him with a T Flash etc...... Then I may be wrong Paul
