  1. Thanks for all the help so far. Can i ask how you find all the info. I looked on the Kennel club site but cant see how to join if i'm not a breeder trying to register a puppy ? The Welbury connection is probably quite promising, I've shot at their clay club on a Wednesday so someone there may know the owners of Welburygrange Cartlend. Must say it all gets quite interesting when you start digging. Cheers
  2. Hi All, Thanks for all the input so far. Her Registered Name was 'Emmellodge Tilly'. We got her from Joe Townsend of the Hurworth hunt, and the Sire was one of Les Dixon's of Mountgrace Guns dogs. I'm just curious to know if its possible to see younger siblings rather than the family history. I'll drop Les an email, as I know he kept one of Tilly Sisters, and see if he ever bred from her. I'm not daft enough to think I would get the same dog, there will only ever be one 'Tilly Super Gundog' , but it would just be a nice nod in her direction when we finally feel ready to get another. Thanks to everyone
  3. We lost our beautiful Lab Tilly last week after a short illness. We are all devastated and not looking to get another dog any time soon, but when the time is right we would like to get another which shared some of her bloodline. Is there a way of finding out if any of her sisters had litters and if so if any of their offspring had litters ? Also if they did , is there any way of getting in contact with the owners or breeders ? She was such a big part of the family that i'd like to think that any new dog would have a little bit of Tilly in her Thanks in advance
  4. Another vote for the Grandfors Bruk splitting maul. Makes short work of things
  5. Theres a young lad called Alec Steel who started out on Youtube but now has a show on History. He's pretty good too
  6. I detest Christmas dinner with a passion. All the fuss and stress means that no one really get to enjoy any of it. If there is the slightest problem, it get blown out of all proportion and arguments ensue. Every year without fail I end up sat there at 6pm wishing I could just go home. I thought this year was going to be different. I thought we were at home, just me , the Mrs and my two kids. We were going to have pork pies and snacks and nibbles all day. Basically wanted to just suit ourselves. Since found out the wife's parents have played the 'Your Grandma could be dead next year' card so now we all have to traipse round there. I dread it every year. Bloody hate Christmas day , but boxing day I get out shooting with the Boy and my dog, Love it !!
  7. Thanks for the replies. I think i'll give it a miss if the gear box is going to drop out half way to work The search continues !!
  8. Chaps, Not shooting related but ive been offered a Mini One for decent money to replace my about knackerd Ford Focus. The car is only really used to get me 3 hrs down the M1 and back once a week. It needs to last a year tops. Basically like the Focus, it will be used, abused then scrapped. Question is, what are these like on long runs. Will it be a nightmare 6 hrs stuck in a tin box, or are these more like a proper car to drive ? Will it be revving itself to death or will it cruise happily at 80mph ? Its a petrol one, not sure on engine size. Are they economical enough ? Cheers
  9. Nope, but I do have 6 Nations Tickets !!
  10. Another vote for the Stihl easy sharpener. Dead easy to use and really quick. From blunt to sharp in a couple of minutes and you cant really get it wrong

A mate of mine has done me a few favours lately and I want to buy him a decent bottle as a thank you. He drinks brandy. I wouldn't know a good one from a bad one ! Recommendations appreciated. Budget £30 - 40 ish. Cheers
  15. Thanks All, Just fired in an email to see if they'll replace mine. How likely are they to do it due to the fact it was my own ham fistedness that snapped it in the first place ?

    DENTIST

I've got to have a wisdom tooth out in the next couple of weeks. I'm definitely not looking forward to that !
  20. I get some stuff from B&Q called HG Mould remover. Stinks to high heaven and makes your eyes water a bit. Spray on and leave for a bit, then a quick scrub and rinse. Don't get it on any chrome bits as it will take the finish off. If that fails, a mate who fits bathrooms swears by brick acid. Never dared do this though
  21. For café racer type stuff, try a forum called 'Do the Ton'. Just reading the projects pages has me sat for hours. Mainly American but some pro builders who can knock out some fantastic stuff.
  22. But what if there are assignments which as a Unit the SAS could never do purely because they are men ? Does this not just add another string to the SAS's bow ? I cant see them using women to yomp miles across the desert to fight a camp of insurgents then yomp back again. However using them in covert roles to wander a city armed to the teeth ready to blat terrorists might be right up there alley and being women much easier for them to blend in ?
  23. I have the CEO's Email address if you want it ? He's called Gavin Something or other. Me and him are on first name terms after my last debacle with BT !!

    Rugby & injuries

I've been coaching my lads team for the last 3 years. From Under 8's to now under 11's. We have a few knocks and bruises but so far have avoided any serious injuries. I've just finished giving them a good rollocking tonight as they were all half asleep, that's when injuries happen. Do it a bit half hearted and that's when you get hurt. I started playing again a few years back and I have to be honest, it hurts. I'm playing at a decent local level with lads half my age, and I play in the front row !! Love the game, love everything it gave to me. I now give back as much as I can.
