  1. Yes motty. Usually east coast around the greater Dublin area. I have birds, but a bag of 50 is what I would normally class as a good afternoon Yes. Well spotted
  2. And one more. Just so we remember, size isn't everything!
  3. Here are a couple more from the last two outings
  4. I've provided a few updates on my afternoon exploits over the last few weeks in talk from the field. So here are few pics. More important. Today I struck gold. Right field. Right time. And, bang under the flightline in. It was a similar story to the other afternoons. Seen a few birds down feeding on a field, but generally all was quiet. However, this spot I know really well. I know how to shoot it in every possible condition. So, I set up where I thought a flight might develop at 3pm. A few birds started to move and at 4.30 bang. A line as tight as a ***** right over my hide. And to add to the pleasure they decoyed as if I had a remote control. Now, big bags of pigeons at anytime of year in this part of the world is a rarity indeed. And, even more so at this time of year. But, what about this for single gun outing! 167 picked up! I finished at 7.
  5. History is there to be interrogated so that we can learn from the mistakes of the past and not repeat them today or in future. If we whitewash history from the public square then we remove a source of debate. They have the right approach in Berlin. Keep everything so that we are confronted with the past face on. What's happening in the USA and any suggestion to remove Nelson from his Column is illconceived.
  6. Arrange some child care and take the woman away for the weekend. Smoking a joint once isn't the problem. If it is, well you just need to get a grip.
  7. Update. Did it again this afternoon. Set up 4.30 shot til 7 and picked up 51. These are short, but busy little sessions. I'm going to try to put a few pictures up of recent trips later.
  8. Got home a little early today and headed straight to spot I know has a return line. I shot from 4.30 to 5.45 and ended up with a tidy bag of 20. The behaviour of my local population has changed noticeably this year. The fields are bare till really quite late in the afternoon. In fact you would be forgiven for thinking there wasn't a bird about the place. But they are there. Hiding. Waiting for all the stubble shooters to give up and go home. Then out they come. A quick feed. Crop full and back to bed. Tomorrow I am taking the decoys out late afternoon to shoot the field they were coming from.
  9. Unexpected half day off so I decided to scout around. Started looking about 2ish and found very little in an hour and half. I was determined to shoot so decided to plump for a cut field of barley where I know a flight line can develop from nothing if the wind gets up. This was just such an afternoon. 40 plus mph at times according to the forecast. There was literally nothing in the air when I arrived, but by 4 pm a few birds started to show. The strong southerly required a quick repositioning, but it was worth it. I picked up 47. Just goes to show. If you know your ground then you can sometimes pull a bag out of the hat. Well pleased.
  10. Sat out in the garden around midnight and seen loads. Moon was up but some of the meteors were really bright. Spectacular show.
  11. I would say we are somewhere near average. Used to get thousands in winter, but that has completely disappeared over the last decade. Global warming!
  12. I think the DUP might take some offences at your description of them being 'Irish' and I don't think 'pseudo terrorist's' would have negotiated a commitment to retaining 2 percent GDP on defence spending, plus signed up to supporting the government in national security legislation and the extension of the armed forces covenant to Northern Ireland. All of which they appear to have done today. Then there is the one billion. That's what come of twenty years experience of almost constant negotiating.

    DUP-Tory Farce

This post is not correct. The cons have an outright majority in England. They can carry anything they like that only affects England. Cons have 297 English MPs all the rest put together only have 237 English MPs.

    Proper Flu

Caught swine flu when it did the rounds 6 years ago. I honestly thought was dying. Anyone who gets flu proper knows it. I laugh when people say they had flu for a few days. Hope you recover quick.
  15. Columba palumbus adhuc debeo gratia pabulor Super going. Let's see the coat of arms then!
  16. Always look up at the screen or level. Never down
  17. Feeling your pain. My 3 year old and I have it. Waiting for the other two and wife to join the club. Haven't eaten for two days. Think I have a bourgeoning six pack though.
  18. The harvest mice were all filmed in Norfolk.

    Eric Bristow

It's not censorship. He said what he wanted. Nobody stopped him. Now he is being 'educated'. And the first part of the lesson is that with freedom of speech comes the associated responsibility of saying something sensible. Otherwise there will most likely be a price to pay for talking *****

    Fidel Castro

Absolutely. 😁 You just stick anything up and before you know it, you've got a thread. In fact, having started it, I don't even think I'm going to bother saying a word related to the subject! 😂😂😂 Too busy thinking up my next random piece of news to start another one.

  22. There's nobody protesting! Looks like you had to fight your way through the crowds of opressed to get close enough to take that photo! 😁 Told you. Ireland is just the same as the US of A. They got out of the club, but they love monarchy! Is so like...... Disney. Princes and princesses.... Castles.... You gotta love it!
