  1. hope you find what you are looking for
  2. How have you established the LOP dimension requirement? I seem to remember reading that when mounted to the face, there should be 2-3finger withs distance between nose and grip thumb. If that is the distance you want to adjust then by changing the stock length with 1" the thumb distanche will change by 4" Aparently there is a 1/4ratio between the 2 dimensions. That is what I read... @Welshwarrior: you do gunfitting as I understand. Is the above correct?
  3. not as much as I would like. Young kids and wife deserve better tham my selfish Self. As Spaniel said above, shoot alot in my daydreaming.
  4. Wellcome mate. Plenty of helpful people on this forum..
  5. Hi, based on my airgunning experience, scope height is dependent on few things: trajectory, cheek height, objective diam 1- find the ammo that suits your gun and get it's Ballistic parameters 2- decide what is your hunting range (most likely) and your kill zone diameter 3- based on the above, work out a scope height &zero that gives you the flattest trajectory for your range. I used Chairgun free software but other ballistic software may work as well. 4- now you can see if you have the correct scope for your gun. It sounds like bulls** and I am sure someone will come along and correct me but it worked for me. For a rimfire the trajectory is very flat so it would require low mount but it depends on the range you shoot at. The closer the range the lower it needs to be.You can get a smaller objective scope if you do not need it at night and depends on budget. Hope It helps...at least theoretically. TSG
  6. Mungler, that would be perfect if only I had a permission. I beling to the group of less fortunate ones. No dig at others.. so please take no offence. Clay ground seems my only option unless some goodwilling member who has accesd to land takes pitty on.me and lets me tag along... thank you for your suggestion. TSG excuse bad spelling。 typing on mobile always allows for odd ones sneaking in.
  7. @deershooter! It makes sense! winchester 101 could be overbored. I know they are backbored according to Manufacturer, but that is diferent thing. I tried the gauge out of curiosity as I said. I was under the wrong impression that the choke diameter is a constant, not the restriction. This obviously makes the choke diameter relative to the barrel. @bostonmick. I wouldn't get hung up on chokes selection but I deffinetly feel the need to pattern the gun... That is onother thread. At the moment I have fitted IC and MOD chokes for clay practice. Thank you all for your help, TSG
  8. Hi, does anybody know of a clay ground with a pattern plate available to shooters? I am trying to gauge my gun fit/mount and dominance as well as gun chokes patterning. I live in Dagenham so essex/kent(ish) would suit for travel. Any info would be much appreciated. Sorin
  9. Hi guys, Been a long time since I posted on forum... I am trying to get into clay/game shooting and at the moment I am building up on theoretical side. I have an Winchester 101 xtr older model and it has several chokes. I bought a choke gauge out f curiosity and found that apart from cylinder, no other chokes seem to match the gauge, all being larger diameter varying in 1-2 size larger. I thought the sizing was standard so either got duff gauge or my WinChokes (apparently browning invector would fit my gun) are over bored. Any ideas?

I zero at 24-26yards. haven't shot recently due to work commitments but it is great fun meeting like minded people and sharing few jokes ... Shoot whatever calibre you like. there are .22 and .177 as well as springers. if you haven't got a rifle then go for .177 A suitable scope would set you back 100-200quid. Falcon menace MP, Hawke sidewinder/panorama 1/2dot reticle type are the ones I use. practice is most important specially range finding. Hope it helps
