  4. all newer stats have a reset button that is supposed to cut off about 80 degrees some cut off a bit lower i,if it keeps doing it change the stat or lower the temp setting a bit

  6. sorry for straying off ,the whole point of a programmable room stat is that you dont turn them off but you will have this facility somewhere ,please tell us the model of boiler and programmer and will try to help
  7. philm there are so many variables on houses and systems that its hard to be presice on costings ,if you have checked it to your satisfaction and are happy that its running the most economically it can then you must run it how you see fit my friend, well done you for at least doing the exercise to find out
  8. it has to be a condensing boiler for this to work and its no use trying it for 24 hours only either. part of the reason this also works is because when your house is not allowed to get too cold in the night your body will not cool so much and demand more heat when it on . how many times have you seen people turn their stat up to 25 degrees because they feel cold in a house thats dropped to 12 ,if it was 20 degrees outside they would be in the garden with a beer. philm have you got a condensing boiler ,was the outside temp the same all day on both days, was your hot water consumption the same on both days, how long do you run your heating for each day, and how do you know that you used more gas on heating (how did you calculate this and how much was the difference) only armed with this information can you carry out a proper test
  9. all worcester boilers of recent years have built in frost protection ,with the flue out side and this cold weather its no suprise to find it running the rads you may be interested to know that by turning your night time temp down to 5 it is very likely to be costing you more to run as your boiler is having to work much harder at a higher rate to get the temp up in the morning. a modulating boiler will come out of condensing mode and cost you more running it as you are. it may seem strange that running the boiler more can cost you less but modern boilers run differently now

  19. Just to add the kernel club do not recognise the sprocker as a breed but they do recognise the field spaniel which they themselves define as a nineteenth century cross between a Sussex spaniel and a cocker spaniel
  20. Spot on kent I have both ESS and sprocker and have found that of all the sprockers i have come across ( one of them now being 15 and her son 11 and still working well ) they seem to be less prone to inbred illness that so many so called full blood pedigree dogs seem to suffer with ,having said that personally I found my ESS easier to train than the sprocker .my ESS has no papers but is a great little dog.I hold very little store in pedigree dogs being better ,if you go back far enough they were all mutts at one point ,the sprocker is a great little dog but you will certainly come up against some dog snobbery in the shooting world ,as above
