  1. I am with you on that ford if something does go getting new wrong parts should not be a problem.
  2. I have to admit I do quite like the look of them but they should not have called them minis they are compact BMWs and should be sold as such.
  3. I was thinking about getting one of them last year as I do like the look of them but whenever I saw what I thought looked like a nice clean one I checked the gov MOT history on them and every one had chassis rust advisory on the MOT found the same with most Mitsubishi 4x4s as well that is why I got a jeep cherokee no separate chassis to rust out.
  4. Why would you do that if it does not have the full time four wheel drive option my jeep has that option but I still only use it in really bad weather my vitara had front locking hubs that you could use to disconnect the drive to the front wheels completely to save were on the drive parts and improve fuel economy.
  5. Have to agree with that I did not think that he was that old 91 always used to make me laugh when he was playing Siegfried do what I say not what I do.
  6. I have to say that I have mixed feelings about the sheep farmer but that aside I think it is high time that the RSPCA got back to what they was set up for caring for sick animals people treating animals badly is or should be a police matter even if that means that the police should have an animal protection section. If people want to campaign against fox hunting or fishing or even shooting I have nothing against that but it should be a separate organisation and thus funded separately not using donations given by old lady's to care for cats dogs birds etc not wasted on expensive lawyers.
  7. If it is one of those you can just put a nice set of AT tyres on it and you should be ok for most things if you want to do some proper offroading/greenlaning they are very simple to upgrade longer springs to give extra ground clearance so you can fit bigger tyres have fun. :good:
  8. The thing that gets me with them is how do they get away with calling them Minis they are massive if you put a proper mini next to one them or the even bigger 4x4 version. As for engine problems the Mini car factory is owned by BMW so I would have thought that the engine would be good.
  9. Would that be the 2000 to 2005 older type one with a separate chassis or the 2005 to 2009 one without a separate chassis if it is the first one they are very good but do check out underneath as they do tend to rust not had one but I did have a 2000 vitara loved it but it only had a 1400cc engine and I like a bigger engine so I sold it.
  10. I gave up on it weeks ago could not make head or tail of it I loved the first two but this one not for me so cannot help you.
  11. I may be wrong on this but for some reason I do not think that they make new galvanised chassis for them mk 1-2 rang rovers I did think about getting an old one and having a new chassis put on/in it but could not see any chassis for them.
  12. I have been watching the program about the great war on BBC at lunch time and all that goes through my head is what is up with this world its madness fighting wars for what nobody ever wins except for the arms companies. people say that we must never forget and I agree but we never learn we are all at it all over the world bombing and killing people all in the name of stopping bad people there is no end to it.
  13. There is only one reason why there are so many old land rovers still on the road and that is parts name me another car/truck that you can buy everything to make a new one if you like the only one that I now of the the good old WW2 Jeep what other car can you buy a new chassis for. :hmm:
  14. If only it could be that simple on older cars yes but some of the newer ones they have to move the engine just to get at it the thing is cars are made simple to build but that does not mean simple to repair I hope your car is one that can be done simply. Could you not just tow it to your local garage or even give it a tow to start it and then drive it there just a thought.
  15. Nowt wrong with a nice pair of wooly socks to keep the feet worm when you got your sandals on. :whistling:
  16. So you are selling a mint 1982 land rover that is road tax free and spending most of the money buying a used land rover that could cost you a pile of money when or if it goes wrong am I missing something here. :hmm:
  17. I have found that if you shoot with both eyes open you do not actually use both eyes the brain will choose the best eye and will disregard what information it gets from the other eye or at least that seems to be how it works for me.
  18. So you would say that all of these classical musicians are no good as they are only copying the people who composed the original version ie Mozart Paganini Schumann Bach Beethoven etc etc.
  19. I have often thought when they was building houses not that long ago why did they put in soft wood window frames as most people tend to change them for UPVC ones as soon as they can afford it for what it would have cost to do the job properly when they made or dun up the houses it seems to me that they are just greedy *******. As for UPVC windows I think they are a bit of a con they say that they are long lasting and you never need to paint them but they do not last that long if you use them and I hate the size of the plastic part it blocks out lots of light I tend to think the alloy ones was better apart from the condensation problem but there must be a way around that.
  20. It was about the mid 2005 that the road tax went a bit mad my jeep is a 2007 and the road tax on this is £500 if I had got exactly the same one made in 2005 it would have been £300 or less so I am paying over £200 for nothing except two years less time to go rusty. :unhappy:
  21. The latest thing is the Americans are planing on bringing in new laws that will stop Europe buying gas from Russia if they /we do buy Russian gas the Americans will fine us/them but looking on the bright side the Americans will sell us some of the shail gas that they have to much of.
  22. well worth looking at the Jeep Grand Cherokee you get a lot of car for your money and not having a separate chassis rust is not so much of a problem.
  23. As has been said before it would not be much of a problem for the car makers to make some sort of a noise generator much like we did with the old push bikes when we was kids a bit of card that hit the spokes as the wheel turns. :good:
  24. If the chassis is good and not rusted I would just get it fixed as if you buy another who knows what could go wrong people tend to sell older cars/trucks when they think something is going to go wrong shortly.
  25. I love Jeeps my 2007 cherokee has the 2.8 crd not much help but if I get another one yours is the one that I would go for.
