  1. They are very sensitive to ammo. Anything with lots of wax on will cause jams. I have about one in a hundred jams with Remington.
  2. Some dive shops refuse to fill them out of date. Nor will their test suppliers take them in. They also have problems with insurers. I have a friend who just threw his away after meeting such agro.
  3. After a little digging it turns out that "6x48" is in fact the British Association (6BA) thread. These are still available from specialists.
  4. Google is your friend. Plenty of modelling suppliers out there. Number 6 UNF isn't 48 tpi though.
  5. Being an RFD is purely cosmetic. As soon as the materials were "activated" it would need to be put on the ticket. This could be done by an FAC holder or an RFD. That is the only time a ticket holder ever writes on his own ticket A sized barrel capable of attachment would qualify. So would a receiver capable of chambering a round.
  6. Step one is to discuss it with the Office. If you have a slot already and never plan to sell it then the law cannot stop you. That is not the attitude to approach it with though. My Office said it is so unusual a request that they would strongly request becoming an RFD with permission to manufacture. Also they would want it proofed for public safety considerations. It's quite simple for any decent mechanical engineer to do but the "approval" hassle makes it rather uninteresting. I nearly did it but I left engineering so it was irrelevant
  7. http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/free http://www.kobobooks.com/free_ebooks Free usually equals complete pants or old.
  8. According to their own website, approved activities include; Archery, Clay pigeon shooting, Fencing (sword), Judo, Karate, Laser clay pigeon shooting, Laser guns, Paintball and Shooting. There, using firearms for target shooting is promoted. So they promote the skill and discipline learned in using tools derived from weapons but decline to be associated with firearms providers. A clear case of arbitrary hypocrisy. The only way to deal with people like that is to shine a light on their behaviour and publicise it.

Older hardware might be a problem. Most software will run on it but it runs programs very differently. The new flip-flopping tablet / desktop interface method might not suit some older items too.
  10. Are pirates a problem in UK jurisdictions? Arrrr there be treasure upon that Isle 'o Wight me harties.
  11. It's registered to you with the police nationally and on the RFD's statutory log. What could happen?
  12. Rename the folder "Computer Manual" and no-one will go there
  13. Huglu and Bettinsolli will not disappoint you even if second hand. There are several lesser known Turkish makes like Huglu that are built like tanks. CZ rebrand Huglu for the US market and they wouldn't choose rubbish. Whatever you find, check the barrel for pitting and make sure there is no play when it is shut. Why spends a load of money when you'll miss at first anyway? Only an utter $%& would take the pee out of someone's gun while out for a friendly shoot.
  14. In a word, no. Get a local geek to help you out.

    VCR ACT

The VCR is here; http://www.legislati...006/38/contents The Firearms (Amendment) Rules 2007 are here; http://www.legislati.../2007/2605/made Gun Barrel Proof Act 1978 is here; http://www.legislati...1978/9/contents At no point does the VCR mention mods or other barrel accessories - Fact Section 32 "Face to Face" by business sellers applies only to "air weapon" and does not carry any extentions. - Fact. The 2007 rules say "Note: in this Part “air weapon” includes any component of, or accessory to, an air weapon." This is so wide as to require the recording by the RFD of particulars of sale of anything that attaches to an air gun including slings, butt-pads and bipods. Once such AIR items leave a business seller they become uncontrolled. No mods/strippers/compensators/brakes or thread protectors are required to be proofed under the Gun Barrel Act, firearm or air - Fact Being cautious is always a good policy though.
