I agree about the weather. It seemed pretty exposed on that fell side in the sun, in horizontal wet sleet I can only imagine😳 hopefully we won't get that on the 19th
-
oop's you are quite right folks, Old Glossop is in Derbyshire and hence in West Midlands even though it has a Stockport post code. Local-ish anyway for NW shooters.
-
Don't forget old glossop clay ground 100 esp reg on the 19th Oct. They tell me they plan regular reg shoots on the 3rd Sunday of the month. A welcome addition to the northern circuit.
-
Visited the ground on Sunday for there inaugural 100 esp open anniversary shoot. Nice ground, friendly, great location and good targets. Owner says they plan 100 reg competitions in future, first on 19th October. Well worth a visit but be prepared for heavy traffic on the A57 approach to glossop and in the town itself.

Gordon do you have more info on the longridge shoot? Venue, contact details. I live in longridge and no n Nothing about it

Excellent write-up and photos, having looked at the fitasc website seems there are a number of shoots coming up this year in warmer-climes. Can any seasoned traveller explain just how one goes about taking a shotgun abroad to these events in Europe, any advice / tips would be very welcome as I have never shot abroad.

I did ask the ground specifically why the shoot was cancelled at such sort notice. I am still awaiting a reply.
-
Thanks - such a shame, it always seems a ground that is under used to me given its facilities. You might think holding the odd registered sporting comp would introduce more folk to the ground for practice?

The north region selection shoot at Coniston scheduled for the 18 May is cancelled according to the CPSA website. Anyone know why - I was looking forward to it.
-
Not good!
-
Will that be plastic or fibre?
-
No more registered shoots then?

I would not rush to a gunfitter until you have put a couple of thousand shells through it. Get used to the gun first and you will soon get a feel of where it is shooting. Then get it fitted for fine tuning.

No reg comps at Worsley until December? Shame, travelling nearly 1.5 hours to a reg shoot is no joke. Need more registered grounds up here.

Basic Persimmon is best all round lens

A testing shoot on Easter Monday. Fair targets and no queues for us. A few eyesight tests pink and orange targets crossing against the trees meant you needed hard focus and a good hold point. You have to hit em so no complaints from me. Hope more reg shoots at Worsley in the future.
-
Ditto agree too but good challenging shoot nonetheless and just glad to shoot a reg sporting without having a 1 1/2 hour drive.

Miroku Shotgun MK38 12 Gauge 30" Sporter
southrop replied to preece3's topic in Clay Pigeon Shooting
I agree, the fixed choke mk38's are by far a better handling gun. you can swop the trap stock for a sporting stock if the trap stock is too high for you and then you've still got the fixed choke handling with a sporting stock. Voila -
Summit Impact Muller shooter at Rishton today
southrop replied to southrop's topic in Clay Pigeon Shooting
Thx guys, still pondering 2 x U2 or 2 x U3, hence the enquiries. Yes shot the comp at Rishton a bit cold hence my 40. Always keen to meet new folk, look out for the black action summit impact and say hello. Tempted to try mullers but a bit expensive for a punt in the dark. -
Summit Impact Muller shooter at Rishton today
southrop replied to southrop's topic in Clay Pigeon Shooting
Interested in comparison with CG 1/2 and 3/4, pattern and performance wise. Shoot this combo all the time, what would be the muller equivalent (U3?) CG chokes are v good hence interested in other summit impact users views. -
Noticed a summit impact and muller shooter at Rishton today. Would be interested in making contact to discuss views on mullers vs CG chokes in the impact. Tried to track down at end of shoot but no joy. If he's reading this be good to talk.
