    Stupid driver

Driving home from work today passed a speed camera.. Me travelling 28mph(approx) when a car overtakes me passed the camera?? I have recorded the time, date, and his numberplate. Will I be likely to hear anything from this? The guy needs sorting out, he then sped up to over 60mph (in a 30). Either one stupid driver or a stolen vehicle. Just wondering where I stand and what I can/should do about it? Cheers

  3. Rest peacfully our friend.
  4. You could use a slap for your cheek! I work hard every day (6 days a week) and earn very little at the moment. 5 pints the night before a day at work not only costs me.. but slows me down a bit, and im not afraid to admit it. The only killing I have any interest in is hunting, so the army is out. While you guys are abroad fighting wars, we are back here at home keeping your families safe. Joke or no joke.
  5. Best pics in ages Good stuff! Cant wait to get my stalking rifle.

    New knife

I just got my Fire Service rescue knife which will be carried in my PPE kit. Its a fantastic peice of equipment, a great addition to my other Victorinox knives. Can I carry one of these as part of my first aid kit in the car? I am not sure about the law regarding a knife as a peice of rescue equipment in the car (only kept in the vehicle) while off duty? Sometimes the law baffles me.. I want to carry this equipment in the vehicle as a means of rescue equipment, yet I may be in trouble with the law for doing so.. Sure it would be a different story if it was in my pocket on a friday night in town.. Best peice of kit I got since the GPS. Cheers
  12. Anything can be fixed, but its usually cheaper and quicker to just buy a new one
  13. Im going for a local station to me, just did the tests there at their training center/HQ. Hampshire has some very good kit, and some good officers too, would work there any day if I had the chance. Mrs Sweepy, will have a PM in a couple of minutes
  14. Thanks for all the kind replies, means a lot Just the CRB checks and medical to finish now before training starts. Not long now.. Did a drill night RTC body recovery practice session which was good. Amused the firefighters by performing CPR or a drag dummy after he was recovered from under the landrover. But its safe to say im not looking forward to the real deal for the first time. Will take some time to get my head around it all
  15. By real men you mean these type of men...
  16. Thanks guys, just back home from the pub a bit tipsy after having been bought several pints by the brigade I also washed the fire engine tonight (using a fire hose reel). Not just work collegues, but also family it seems.
  17. Thank you guys for the nice replies Il try get some photos u[ wen training starts. Could be interesting, starts with one day induction then 2 weeks basic training, before going on to BA (breathing apparatus) as HD mentioned. There was more involved in the test, including seeing some good guys fail the test, and a woman break down. Then suddenly you realise how tough it is and some people wont go home with good news. But its not an adventure park, its the fire service, and you need the strength in emergancy situations. I scraped through, and definetly need to work big time on fitness before my training. Il be looking at weight work combined with a 3km run every morning before work. :yp:
  18. If you want a job in retail (2 of my jobs) they are out there with crud money (min wage) but at least its work. Avoid job centers. Useless, get out there and look/try everywhere you see as something that could put your abilities to use. I never saw myself working in retail. But I joined Homebase as a last resort of employment and its been interesting but not something I could do for more then a year or two. There are staff there who have worked for 13 years+ with no pension scheme, and min wage. Terrible :S But its a start and adds to your CV, which will lead onto other things to get you going on the ladder of employment. Now im joining the fire service and will earn even less! as I will be on the retained system (on call) but I need some form of job satisfaction.
  19. Yesterday I drove to Hampshire Fire&Rescue (HQ) to undergo the intensive physical tests. Nackered but happy, I finally crawled out of the final dark cage, with vision obstructed by a BA mask. It was good to have completed the ladder climb/ladder lock, timed equipment assembly, timed equipment carry (walking with eights, running, dragging) then pulling a 40+kg dummy around a course in under 40seconds. In total I ran over 400m and walked 200+ in full firefighter PPE and wellie boots (not fun to run fast in). Also assembled the jaws of life hydraulic system (timed) and performed a ladder lift test. One of the toughest days I have had in a long time. Many thanks to the PT staff and examiners at Hampshire Fire&Rescue. Thats the end of testing, its taken 9 months to go through the application, theory, interveiws, and physical stages. Tomoro im off out with the local brigade of whom will be getting a couple of rounds on me! Also thanks to my local brigade for all the support so far. Couldnt have done it without them.
  20. There is work out there, just keep positive and keep looking. Im struggling to keep up with work as I have 3 jobs and work 6-7 days a week at the moment. Keep looking and try retail stores such as Homebase etc. Interesting work (for a while). Shooting? forget it.. havent fired a shot for weeks/months :yp:
