  1. Got a very similar target with my .222. Great guns! I use 40-45 grain max, the 50 grain bullets have a poor effect on accuracy. Amazing as this will sound, I know a guy who shoots 70 grain bullets through a .222!

Thanks for all the encouragaing and helpful replies! Very much appreciated from everyone. I took the suggestions above, and went into town and bought some maths revision stuff. I will very likely fail on this test because it is on thursday, but from now on I will study hard untill the next test and the test after that etc, untill I have reached the right degree of maths needed. Im sat here in my room watching the staff from my place going off out to town to party, I know I have to get my head straight now and study for these exams. Its amazing how hard I have to work to pass an exam that will never be used in the fire service (basic calculations are all you need ) but here goes. I have considered the police service for quite some time and studied/trained in the Uniformed Public Services course for it, but the fire service is all a bit less theoretical, much more practical, and the chaps are very friendly where as the police service can be a little too serious at times, and involve lots of pen pushing. I dont want to take on a job, where I cant do my duties because of all the regulations. If I join the police it would be to get to a specialist unit such as firearms. But thats another can of worms.. Thanks everyone It was embarrasing going into WH smith and asking a young lady where the maths revision books where, and being led into the childrens section but the truth is my maths are still at GCSE level E or worse.

Dont get too excited.. Knife crime has not risen latley, but the media are jumping on the stories stronger then ever. They always choose a new topic. A while ago it was global warming, then Maddie, gun crime, now knife crime. Unfortunatly its getting people concearned, but that buys papers and sells on TV. There has always been a lot of knife crime, but never before has the media focused so strongly on it. Trust me its not just the UK that has that level of knife crime.

Thanks guys! I have another timeline though.. There are (or were) only a couple of slots for that station, and if I dont pass soon, they will be filled and I will be at square one, in which case I will probably be looking at joining the army for a job, as there is nothing here for me. Or go to Canada.

Well I failed my fire fighter examination on maths, I could see that happening as my maths are a weak point. This week I will really be revising and have made some sacrifices. I have sworn I will never drink alcohol untill I pass this exam, and for those of you who dont know me, I do like a good British ale or three where possible. So its going to be hard, but without keeping a clear mind and having a few things to work to, I will never get around to studying maths as I hate maths. On my wall is a shelf, on it is a small bottle of Special Reserve Tawny port, three ales, and the chance of a change in career.. something exciting. None of which I will touch untill I pass this exam, no matter how many times I have to go to the stressful testing center, and be put under high pressure of time to complete maths qeustions. Prehaps I will have to ask a moderator to ban me from here for a while to stop me posting when I revise online. My retake is on the 18 of July, very little time, but this time I understand just how much I ned to learn, and for a dyslexic plank like myself this will be quite a challenge, the most important exam in my life since my driving practical exam. For me walking into the test center and sitting down is like a bad dream you really want to escape from, but you have to wait it out.. B)
  6. Only an 85meter shot, nothing spectacular.. Thats childs play for a .222 Yes on Weekends however I shoot Ox with a B2 air rifle at 200 yards
  7. Flash there are special cutting tools (some sort of spring loaded carbide tips on a rod) which are rotated in a pre drilled stock bar of metal. Once the cutting is done the barrel needs to be hand lapped inside (lots and lots of polishing) its a long complex procedure but quite possible to do on a good lathe. Its how the oldd barrels used to be made. Now the barrels are often cold or hot formed around a mandrel then polished and off for machining (cutting the chamber and applying the thread which goes into the action block).
  8. Looks like woodies to me. Very nice shooting, I have only shot about 20 in my life. Love the meat though!
  9. Thanks for your replies guys That comes as part of the Tikka T3 Varmint stock Yep its a .222 as well. Good little round, easy to shoot all day but a bit pricey. Its shoots so well with factory ammo, I wont reload as at the moment I dont think any hand loaded round will shoot better groups then it does with the current rounds I use.
  10. Nice gun, good shot! I miss airguns.. my dream airgun is either a Logun MK2 .22 or a HW35 .177

Better still give it to a charity shop so at least someone gets something out of it IMO a waste of time to watch though there is one funny moment when someone commits suicide by laying underneath a lawn mower, the rest is rubbish..
  12. He made the same confusing topic here: http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/ind...showtopic=63561 Its starting to make sense now
  13. I worked there last year. Not a bad show..

Il be honest, I thought there was way to much CGI stuff, and curving the bullets?? come on. Also flipping cars, etc too many unrealistic stunts for my liking. Not impressed with the cinema latley, I also watched that 'Happening' film, another waste of £8...
  15. Good luck! I hope the weather is better for you then it is for me at the moment..
  16. I buy everything apart from guns and ammunition online now, so I only visit the gunshop 4 times a year or so. Not entirely sure what you mean in your post.. 1 gunshop or one company of gunshops? I certainly would not like to drive 200+ miles just for some rimfire ammo.
  17. This is why I am peed everytime someone starts a topic or makes a post slagging off Britain. Because they have forgotten how lucky we actually are compared to some places in the world.. Freedom of speach, freedom to go pretty much anywhere we like.. Freedom to have a family as big as we like, plenty of food, and fresh clean water.. etc etc. Think about it sometimes. When I was out in Romania I was in an area with no running water and the toilet was outside in a wooden shed. And that was considered normal out there. Nearest hospital was about 2-3 hours away, and ambulance are old converted cars, trucks, or vans. There was no such thing as 'air ambulance'.
  18. You have to do the job properly.
  19. Thats a great rifle there Dr_Scholl. This is my favorite Bolt Action rifle.
  20. Better then our country ruled by a limp wrist..
  21. So its been a while since I last posted any photos which is unlike me. Picture topics are the only topics of mine which get any replies so I thought these photos were worth sharing with you. The first is a large male fox (bigger and heavier then it looks!) I have shot four ox this week, and without doubt will shoot another 2-3 in the next couple of days, but I dont post photos of dead stuff so much anymore. As I never have a great story to tell.. For me im 'on call' fox shooter, I get called to one area of the estate when a fox is spotted and then track and (try) shoot it. I never go out just to hunt anymore as I dont have the permision areas anymore. Only a vary small bit of land with some chickens and cat food bait at night. This system brings all the nearby fox in ao in the day time the chickens are safe. I am on my 23rd fox now. Heres me at the range checking over the zero on the Sako. Later in the evening I tried out a Taurus .22lr revolver. Very nice kit. The Tikka out in action Im lucky when I get to shoot on a farm which is only a couple of times a year, so I always take photos Cheers for looking
  22. I know that, they have a lot to do.. But thats beside the point of how they treat other countries at the moment.. You should see how America is treating the people in certain countries at the moment with its bombs and other weapons. China will change, but it will be a long slow process. Untill then il have to put up with their cheap ****** tools.
