  1. I have bought a BSA Lightning XL with the above mentioned Scope and can't seem to Zero it, checked the mount, OK, checked the Scope, seemed ok but it does not want to zero. This is the second one of these scopes I have had in 6 weeks, as the 1st one went tits up when I tried to zero it... i fitted an old Webley 4x32 on the rifle and zeroed within 20 shots....Has anyone else had problems with this type of Scope? It is maybe cos it does not like the Springer? Any advice will help... Cheers XL
  2. Or on Sundays, it is illegal to shoot a pheasant on Sundays.....I'm sure thats right, could be wrong :*) XL
  3. Thanx Batmancaver, I'll try that. XL
  4. Believe it or not 9/10 times it is just nerves thrashing the limbs about, if you do get flappers breaking the neck is the best way IMHO of despatching them. I must admit if you hit em right, they don't flap... XL
  5. What ever happened to the gamefair at Rebourne?? I used to enjoy going to that... XL
  6. Have done similar with a mate who is mad on Ratting, gets the old scud going( angle grinder with hose) with a few guns or dogs (not together obviously) and flush the gritters out you have to be bloody quick mind.... XL
  7. Thats what I thought, I couldn't believe how expensive they were.... I'll stick with the Accupells for now and maybe try the Diablo's as well, cheers. XL
  8. Thanks Sussex, I'll keep them in mind. Out of interest have you ever used the Logun Penetrators? XL
  9. Hi Dave, that was the point I was trying to make. Agreed, birds will wonder and if they wonder on to land that does not have shoots on, then you are fully within your rights (with farmers permission and during the required season) to shoot them. My point was more aimed at the lesser informed. On the shoot I work on we have alternate Saturdays for the shoot but the farmer has given some Pigeon shooters permission to shoot on the opposite Saturday to us (and supposedly no where near the drives) but on more than one occasion we have found them in their hides just off one of the drives on our Saturday Claiming they got the days wrong and were not sure what drives we were doing that day.... :< ****!!!! I guarantee that if the odd stray Fessy fly past it wouldn't get far.... XL
  10. Just a quick question, just bought myself a new BSA Lightning XL.22/Scope combo (Hawke 3_9x40 Mil Dot. HD) and I am wondering what the best pellets to use, it will be mainly for ratting and pigeon and it's it's not an FAC. I haven't really put enough through it yet to notice a difference but I am using Crossman Accupell's. Are there better pellets on the market? Is this gun that fussy? A ll answers are welcome as I'm pretty new to the Air gunner scene having always been a Shot gun man (or an SA80 in my younger days). XL
  11. Interesting post, I'm pretty new to this forum business and so please except my apologies if I am heading in the wrong direction.... Personally I am not 100% sure on the Pheasant argument but, I know from working on a shoot, that, if I saw anyone taking a pop at a Pheasent in or out of season (that is not involved with an organised shoot/sydicate) I would not be very happy. During the season, some gamekeeper/underkeeper/syndicate members work hard to keep these birds happy, as someone has paid a lot of money to shoot these birds as part of an organised shoot. Out of season the birds are left well alone to breed, wonder and generally be "happy" so that we have a better stronger stock for the following season. I am sure if the farmer said to you anything except farm stock goes he means Corvids and Pigeons not Pheasants. Just my opinion. XL
  12. Samkeith, your very keen, which is good, but, unfortunately if you do not own a gun your going to be limited to what you can do. Most shooters (pigeon/Wildfowl) guard their shooting rites very passionately, so when questioning people, be aware that without the experience you require to do either sport, the chances of you getting invited out on a shoot will be slim. My advice would be the same as the afore mentioned. Get a gun, if not join your local Shot Gun club and get some experience shooting clays, maybe lessons. That way you'll get the gun handling/safety experience before hand. Once you have the experience you can then progress. Good luck XL
