  1. Hi..thanks for the reply,,,Peter Starley only sells Swiss powder,I am after TPPH powder, and I don't think they can bring it to the shows! because of explosive regulations...it is not classed the same as Nitro powder. Thanks again Wayne
  2. I was wondering if anybody living close to H Kranks was going to the show on Sunday!...I am wanting a bottle of TPPH black powder and would meet at the show to reimburse anyone kind enough to do this for me! Please feel free to email me. Thanks Wayne
  3. Show me a man who doesn't make mistakes!! Come on lad's, cut him some slack
  4. Hi Rob..not tried any in the 8 yet...local shop only has Kranks 3 grades in stock, would like to get some tpph, I have asked them to get it for me, but will have to wait until their next order with Kranks! don't know when that will be Wayne
  5. Anyone used H Kranks BP..other than TPPH, I know they do fine, medium and course. but was wondering how it compares to TPPH!! going to try some in the 8 bore. Cheers Wayne
  6. Welldone...I am going to give BP a go in my Tolley 8...are those cases plastic you were using in the H&H ?
  7. If you can get some of the large clear damp proofing...the stuff builders use on footings..roll it out and don't leave it to square..splash some water on it,put a couple decoys out as the light fades....It does work, and is quite comical when they land
  8. I have a german army sea sack...brill bit of kit,heavy canvas.http://www.anchorsupplies.com/german-sea-sack.html
  9. Roast mallard..chips fried in beef dripping..courtesy of my 1890's Tolley Altro and home loaded Black powder cartridges! Doesn't get any better for me...Happy new year Lads..and Ladies of course.
  10. Browning Maxus 30 inch barrel,3.5 chamber, duck blind cammo...purchased about 10 months ago..Has not fired 50 cartridges from new. Reason for selling is...Stock is to long for me, Lovely gun really, Just a shame it doesn't suit me..there are some pattern tests with this gun on the wildfowling section..Under Eley Lightning...comes with all the Browning bits and bob's..and will throw in the Teague choke that was used for the pattern test...Gun is still for sale, bit of a mix up placing the advert! Cheers Wayne
  11. Soak them in salt water overnight..Half a small onion in body cavity,Beef dripping in bottom of roasting tin...nice fat streaky bacon over the breast and roast.MMMmm
  12. Hi..I was shooting 1/4 choke with my Maxus with steel and couldn't touch a bird!..when I patterned it at 30yds on a 4ft board you could have got a ostrich through the pattern...I think it is because the maxus is over bored .742 not standard 12 gauge .729 and I think thats why it patterns better choked tighter...I maybe wrong!!
  13. thats about right..including bb...bbb for the geese, although I don't know why you can't shoot woodcock with lead! unless you are on SSSI sites..I maybe wrong!!
  14. Shot string will normally iron out a few holes in the pattern.. I don't think any duck or goose would slip through that 30ins circle!!...unless they are sitting on the water
  15. Sorry forgot that...they were the 3s...but I think the 36grms would probably give a better pattern further out!
  16. I will pattern them further, just to see what they do,But I ran out of wallpaper... 30 to 50 yards, Or there about is the distance I shoot normally on the coast!....do you miss many when they are closer than 60 yards?...That terror choke would be like a rifle at 30 to 40 yards I would guess!
  17. http://www.tbullock.com/bpsg.html Have a look here..should give you the info you want!
  18. What choke you using?... I use the 30ins barrel on the Maxus,I do find its a bit slow for me for close up work on flight ponds, but its fine on the coast..
  19. I tried with the maxus 1/4 choke...you would have put a bus through it..but you really need to pattern with your gun and cartridge..it will give you more confidence! Or Not.
  20. A couple of tests with the 32grms..the one's I weighed were closer to 30grms...Browning Maxus,Teague 5/8th choke...average of 160 shot per cartridge...first pattern 30yds 95% inside 30ins circle..next 40yds..82%, I think the pattern would hold to 50yds!..and would probably pattern better with the 36grm cartridges!
  21. I know this subject has been covered by other forum members...but are the latest batch as quick as the last, before the recall.
