  1. Yesterday afternoons work on some recently cut rape Also on monday I was try to make some spring sticks using steel banding, (good results even my visitor thought so)
  2. Cheers Guys, Of to the local gunsmith this weekend to see what his opinion is
  3. Went out at the weekend with the new sillo socks and hydra flappers. Set-up right under the flights line between t fields of rape which I know they are feeding on but the rape in too high decoy (they are feeding off the fringes). After 1 hour no shots fired as the birds where jinking as soon as they saw my pattern. Took the rotary down and within 15 mins had my first bird land directly in the middle of decoys. It was a steady afternoon with more birds missed that shot. (Total of 20 birds for an afternoons work). Maybe the hydra flapper will work better in a stronger wind. Anyway packing up and marching back to my car heavily laden with all the kit, I slipped over on a bramble root and I don’t know how but landed on my back (My gun was in a slip across my back) . I heard a loud crack of wood splitting. I though it was a branch so I carried on home. At home cleaned my shotgun as usual but noticed a hairline split in the stock , the split starts from the trigger guard almost splitting the stock in half. The split also appear on the top starting at the finish of the safety but the crack appear to be spilt over a few grains of wood I would not be too bother but is has left a small gap next to the sideplates, which will allow dirt to enter the trigger mechanism. And I am sure will cause further damage. Can it be repaired or I am look at a new stock ? Any advise about getting this repaired would be appreciated. Bettinsoli Diamond line sporter 12g O/U I cannot even find a bettinsoli web site.
  4. Glued an old 'flat pack' hole fillers, just like a biro top. 5 cm from the top. The glue some silicon tubing, makes it alot easier to push and pull the stake into the ground. Put some tubing inside the silosock to make a 'snug' fit to the stakes. Hopefully they will prolong the life of them. They work OK in the garden but not been much wind about today so will try them out at the weekend

  6. I've had only 13 so far this year, really poor. Lots of flocks still hanging around but not on my permission I hope the situation improves
  7. Got mine hypa-flaps today, Informed Shootwarehouse of a slight manufacturing defect but I am sure they will fix that. You now get 2 sets of wing spurs, Black for normal winds and brown for stong/blustery. Just hope the weekend weather is good for decoying on some rape. Let you knoe how I get on.
  8. last week driving from Calais to Antwerp huge flocks just flying around, Why so many there i don't know
  9. I am shooting a 12G using Eley 32grm HB Pigeon. A friend also suggest I start using Gambore clear pigeon 30grms, as these will have a lower re-coil. Thanks for your tip
  10. Having shot for 3 days in a row, My shoulder is sore. I know some is caused by me mounting the gun incorrectly but even so Anybody used any home made recoil pads or purchased the browning reactor pad ?
  11. When shooting on hot days, Any tips on keeping your shot birds cool till you get home.
