  1. If you have the time for home loading its good and fairly cheap. Wind can be a problem, the round does get affected badly at times, more so than other rounds. All in all another tool for the job and if you get a Sako quad you only need to buy another barrell and you have two guns for the price of one But the distance you can kill over a .22lr is worth every bit... :good: :good:
  2. SLR, SA80... , they were the days. I too had to do the conversion from natural left, and left eye dominant, to right handed...same problem....but got better over the time and rounds at the tax payers expense. I now shoot a r/h hatsan and have no problems, I had a l/h Laurona and found that it fitted quite bad. I have to shoot a true l/h rifle though, and pay through the nose to do so...but thats because I'm gifted being a lefty  ....as others have said, go to a DECENT gun smith and try different ones out. Clays grounds are a good test as well, never had any problem asking to try someone's gun out. It saves time.....and a lot of money if you try and do it right the first time.
  3. When I left the forces in '99, and obtained a normal life, I moved back to the dales and picked up the bug again. So, on the QT I applied for my SGC and FAC, when I knew the FEO was coming round, I took the cabinet out of the boot of the car where it had been hiding, bolted it onto the wall in the loft and hey presto. Then came the problems when she went into the loft, something which I did not envisage due to her phobia of spiders.....the comment of " what's that silver box in the loft ? ", and my reply of " it's only a gun cabinet "....well that's where it all went Pete Tong. My fault for being sneaky really, like the time I asked " could we have a dog ?"....so I got a puppy springer and when she came home, she went ballistic....my reply " well, you tell the girls it's got to go back ". So, it's always a bit of a battle really, takes me back to the hearts and minds operations....she has no heart and I have no mind. Now I have to buy a .243 and get it back home and she is off for two weeks...mmmm " just looking after it love for your dad "
  4. She hates shooting with a passion...which is strange as she grew up on a farm. ...might be daring and hide the avon book when it comes :o
  5. I have managed to siphon just under a grand since christmas to fund a new gun....I just love secure storage in the loft
  6. About three weeks ago I put in for a variation....a bit of a battle but stood my ground. Went on holiday a few days later, came back, checked the mail and nothing...thats odd thought it would be here by now. Left it another week, bumping my gums daily to all that would here, damn it, rang Durham HQ. " It's all done " was the reply, it was returned a few weeks ago. House turned upside down, can't find it anywhere....." what are you looking for ",.....oh, "something came for you before we went away ".....grrr Moral of the story......leave your wife or partner, as when the chips are down, you can't trust 'em when you want time off the radar :yp:
  7. Thanks folks. I was holding fire on calling JS as I thought it was the crop rotation issue.
  8. It all depends on the outcome. If it can be proved / admitted that the common assult took place, a caution will be issued. If you have refused the caution and it goes to court, the force dealing with the matter can revoke your license. It has been done before. You do have grounds under Section 44 of the Firearms Control Act to appeal. Best advice, join BASC or any organisation like that if not already, wait and see what happens with the common assult charge and take it from there. If you need anymore info, please pm me
  9. ....it's my first year with NPPC, I had one list sent in March when I joined. How often do you get them ?, I fully understand crop rotation, but, any info on how often they get updated and sent out ? Many tanks...brmm brmm
  10. Have you gone down the SGC route of FAC, might be able to give you a bit of info
  11. Fair play to you Sir, that is a canny distance
  12. Be firm with what you want, and the reason / reasons why. Don't be put off my your mates, every license is a seperate case. As long as you know your ground and also possible short falls, it goes a long way in your favour. Stick-by your guns when the FEO calls, in all fairness mostare ok..
