  1. Quite a few bases from Leopold are different sizes/lengths. If they're slightly different hights they could be off a ruger. 77 cf Can't see a big picture as i'm on a phone.
  2. Had you ever thought that in the first group it could have just been 1 pellet that had key-holed hence the wizzzzing noise and your othershots missed tthe paper all together.
  3. No. I did once by mistake, and believe me I don't ever want to do that again. It had been weeks since I last took the rifle out of the cabinet, a mate's dad had a look at it ( a shooter) and I handed over the bolt in it went and then we heard it. The click of a mighty 30.06 round being picked up from the magazine. So no I don't EVER.
  4. No ,,,,, it's your mind that's thinking its wrong. :-)
  5. I would make sure either you full length resize next loading or scrap your brass. Again a mention of using "SAND" in gun rests, it may not have been an issue here but cack on the cases or in the chamber could cause this. But more likely cases over large
  6. Thats some going, at £1.50 a piece you could re-coupe some of your initial outlay
  7. Partly true, Beef is hung as 1/4's usually, fore and hind for weeks ideally 4 but mostly 3 weeks, Joints allready cut to meal size will not keep that long too well, they will go green depending on your fridge and humidity if left for weeks in the fridge, I'm not saying you will get food poisoning but you will need to scrape the green slime off it before you cook it. I'm a smeller, if it smells ok then i eat it
  8. +1 Just thinking about how you would do a risk assesment on that one, OK it might be safe sometimes but just think of the times it wont be. A lost hand could be the least of the injury add to that a cleaning rod stuck up the barrel. No i fancy the hitting the bolt back with a hammer and wood option thanks
  9. If it were me i would stick with optilock, they're dearer yes, but only 1 10th the price of your rifle they won't mark your scope, what's that worth How many times do you see folk's asking when buying 2nd hand scopes if they have crimp marks on them ? Don't compromise on the mounts.
  10. Take your scope and mounts off, take the ring's off the mounts and start over again making sure all bolts are tight. try a few shots without the mod, then with,if it's still bad then try another scope. It has got to be one of the abovementioned. Or your crown is u/so or you're barrel, but I doubt it either of those.
  11. You have some Octopus system so put some wheels on it.
  12. I think that's what's going to happening from now on. Thanks al4x
  13. It works ok, it's simple enough it emits a laser, I never thought that only moments before I spotted a cat,and that just sat and stared at the light so it must have been highly visible. This fox wasn't hanging around, yet before while using the Archer without the firefly it had no idea i was there. It's a learning curve at the moment.
  14. Hi folks, I found out last night after the first time out with my archer that the laser spooks Fox's. I had the NM mounted on the scope but chose to use the firefly to my dissapointment,Does the NM have the same affect as i didnt get chance last night to find out,
  15. I may have some Leopold qr that may fit I will let you know asap tomorrow £40 posted ?

Just realised that the fire fly spooks Fox's dam. Should have used the nm :-( just got in, only went on the 1 field, i put the caller out with some different calls on and just got used to using it as a spotter with the fire fly then with the nm, i think the push switch is better suited for use rather than the pressure switch. I should have realised that the fire fly emits a strong beam when i spotted a cat staring right at me, there's me thinking I was invisible. Mounting it took a little getting used to but it was soon sorted. I spotted a fox coming in so mounted the archer on the scope and switched the fire fly on, as soon as I got it on the fox it bolted, gutted. Next time I will stick to the nm,lesson learnt.

Cant wait for it to get dark Mind you its a full moon tonight, possibly cloudy, just hope the rain keeps off. Just downloaded some different calls for the caller see what come out, hopefully they wont see me
  19. Yes a good weekend Saturday and Sunday Allot of different faces there, quite allot from Manchester i noticed. I will remember the big chap with the 6.5x47 there's one you cant forget. Not a bad bunch of chaps, and lasse's.
  20. I don't concern myself with that problem. But our clothes ain't too bad smelly wise, and the horse blankets. We only wear brown and grey in our house.
  21. £189 indeset sale price lasted 11 year's£239 hoover sale price been going ok since replacing broken indeset. The other £572 I spent on shooting stuff. sorted, Oh! And no wasted time playing with old washing machines. ;-)
  22. So you have had you're washer for 12 year's, you must be attached, i mean emotionally. You can buy a new one for £250 is, won't it be more viable to scrap it, you could get counciling for the split up with bosch. lol
  23. Try swimbaits, not been piking for some time but had some very hard hits with those and simalar on some big waters trolling in Ireland. 190mm and 55gram they are very life like,The lipped ones will dive to about 5-8ft The first take was just 30 seconds after hitting the water, only an 8 pounder but a nice fish, i thought i had snagged on something, not expecting a take that soon.
  24. Well happy then. That fox is in for it now then
  25. I see your point but you can buy brass wire wool,(still an issue though) on the other hand just wipe them when you finished loading, that case does look rather rustic using that green scourer.
