  1. Thats some big fox your way,you must be feeding them well. I dont let them get that big round my way. Lol
  2. I have been fishing for quite a number of years,(mainly course,a little fly and a few days sea fishing around Donegal for Cod,Pollock,Ling ect) possibly more than 40 :yp: so knots are not a problem using braid or tying rigs it the Beach bit i have never done before, Thanks for the offer Jasper but i think we should be back that week. I am looking forward to the huge amount of fish i am going to catch
  3. The rod is a cheapo Rod Hull (Ron Thompson) 12 foot, i really cant see the point in over spending, the use its going to get is maybe once a year after this, and its a big maybe. It wont be for a couple of weeks or so, i may see if there are any deals at the Midland this weekend for a bigger reel. Yes a mono for the leader. not too fussed about lures as its more tackle to buy that i wont be using much after. The most important part of the tackle is going to be the seating
  4. Havnt drank cider since school days, was really bad and never touched it since, crab butties sound nice though,
  5. Hers one for you all;; I have a 30.06 if i hit a can of coke at 50yds were to i put the cross hair on a nice Red Stag at 265yds Oh! it will be a 180grn nosler Please be quick with the answer i am going stalking this afternoon !!!
  6. I find it a tad confusing your asking for drop/trajectory for a rifle you also use on Roe, i understand you will possibly be using different weight bullets for Fox and Roe, personaly i wouldnt bother with the change. You are surley aware of the drop when your Deer shooting . If you need to know what the drop is at any chosen range than may i suggest you place your zero targets at that range and not guestimate or take measurements from other peoples guesses, Get out there and put some holes in paper at ranges up to say 300yds it will make you a better rifleman quicker than listening to most of the advice given on here And IMHO a far better way to learn.
  7. Or you could of done what i did and paid the man at Halfords £25 to do it, 4 hours and no stress later job was done
  8. After another text from Farmer giles, my services were in need again. After the other week i thought the job had been done after shooting a couple of fox's,but there you go as we all know there are others that quickly move in on the vacated area's,and being as there's a few hundred acres next door fenced of with all the high tech gizmo's you could imagine to keep all the rabbit and fox population fairly safe :yp: ( i know nobody controls either) Anyway the text "just seen another fox in the back field" Ok be there later Rifle sorted, caller sorted (Altec Ipod player) cans of pop, lamps and out at 20.00. At the farm quick chat with the farmer, sorted out some nice lamb for the freezer which i will be butchering next week ,then get myself sorted on the silage bails, not before putting the caller out on a hay bail about 50 yds in front of me. Switch on,a quick climb up on the bails (3 high) and wait. Not long before i spot a pair of eyes about 190 yds in the far corner coming in,i loose it through the trees, thinking its got to be about somewere i lay off the lamp for a couple of minutes see if its coming in to the call, lamp back on its sniffing the bail that the callers on,it runs off back to about 90yds to a tree line, stops, turns side on,just enough time for a shot, jobs a good un . Can open well deserved drink (Tango) i decide to hang on for a bit,too early to go home yet its was only 21.50, have another flick round with the lamp about 15minutes later and clock another one coming straight in this time, not bothered about the lamp, i gave it a grunt to stop it then gave it a 55grn nosler for its last supper. Well happy wrapped up and a pint on the way home picture,s on the rubbish side poss due to the phone being left out in the rain a few weeks back
  9. Well they sound pretty good these 2, do, one runs on fresh air,and one runs on oil and shows very good mpg.But does possibly give you back pain. ;-)
  10. Thanks chaps.its actually braid so should cast ok,i must up my leader though, its my first time beach casting so I am approaching it with expected fluff ups lol.. Looking forwaard to it. Oh! The reel will be either a shimano 4000 or simalar bait runner, any good
  11. Need a few tips for beach fishing around Sidmouth area, whats it like this time of year and any advice on places, baits tackle ect. Would 35lb main and shock leader of about 50lb be OK Thanks
  12. Mung, take it to Croatia and try it out on some of those Pigs, i'll shoot you one or two and you can do a bit of butchery on them.
  13. If your getting close to the renewal date and have any worries, then get yourself on old cheap 22lr to fill your slot, chuck a cheap scope on and you have filled your slot, looking around you could get a set up for just about £180 inc scope
  14. Dont you get it Sparkie,,,, we didnt want you there
  15. Thats bad, I bet your gutted... If you bought it second hand I would question what or if any damage had been done previously, not seen anything like that happen in such a short time.
  16. Sorry didnt say bye yesterday.very rude of me.. Had a good day. Just spent 1/2 hr pulling **** bullets. Poss see you next time
  17. Some of you must be very posh, snobby, have the need to be "in-vouge" or go beating in open fields there's no way i would spend more than £25 on a pair of leggings, chaps to go beating in. Or maybe the type of beater who wont go through the thick stuff "KEEP IN LINE" !!!! dont you get upset spending £40 + on a pair of leggins only to get them ripped on brambles or black thorn on the first drive ? however much they cost they will get caught and rip eventually. I would be gutted knowing i just got paid my £20 for beating knowing it would go towards a new pair of legging for the next weekend..
  18. :good: This must be about the best answer i have seen in relation to the question that pops up so many times. I freind of mine uses a 222, no problems so far, he's been shooting for a fair amout of years another chap i know shoots 223 again no problems, i shoot 22.250 no problems. Each of us bought our rifles because we chose that calibre, liked the rifle,if you want to say fell in love with it at first glance then fine. They are all more than capable of doing the job they were designed for
  19. Its no different over here, if you go to the silly places for your barley pop like the big cities London,Manchester Birmingham hit the local hot spots / fancy bars then yes it is allot more expensive. But if you stick to the small local villages were IMO you get to see the old traditional parts of a country like Ireland, then you will pay allot less. And get to see more, and understand why its such wonderfull countryside

    Best comedy

A fish called wanda. Best laugh for me.
  21. I wouldnt trust the double sided pads for one minute, i used them in the olden days to attatch mirrors to the love room ceiling and one fell off, thankfully i was not in there at the time :o I ended up taking the lot down, and put them on the wall instead
  22. As said large polystyrene box,vac pack, chill to +2,(it does not have to be froze)or about, place ice packs, seal wrap and post next day or same day. Post marked as perishable goods we used to post meat from butchers on the odd occasion some time back.
  23. Had a sniper system over 2.5 years now cant fault it. It has a 13.75lb rifle on it most times without any problems. well worth the money, and has the lever on to alter the swivel tension. Bought from shooting show for £60 (shop soiled)
  24. Not that bad out in the sticks. The black stuff was just a tad under £3 a pint in May
