  1. all good rifles, or you could opt for an air arms s200 (best in .22 i think), excellent rifle for a great price (mine was £300 s/h & included silencer, scope & mounts, there is a very good chance you could find a better deal  )
  2. Jon,

Is a mk1 or 2 ? The mk1 had many problems but I don't think power was a problem. The thing to remember about PCP's is they have a power curve. My Mk2 will only put out 10.5lbs ft with a 13 gn Accupel on a full charge but once I've fired about 10-15 pellets it goes up to just over 11 lbs ft and to be quite honest I wouldn't set it any higher as the risk of going over 12lbs ft is too great (get caught and that's the last time you'll ever fire a rifle) Sorry can't help you with your technical problems I find the idea of stripping down an S16 daunting and I've been an Avionics Engineer for 20+ years  But my advice would be send it back to Logun let the experts sort it out.

its ok. i was just checking... i dont like AGS / logun... as I havnt had the best of experiance with them... stripping the new S-16 was easy.... and finding the problem was easy as well..... just got to take your time with it.

I am sure this is the cause... I should take some photos and post them on.. but then I am afraid if I do then irresponsible people will try to up the power... which is something I am not after.

I will try it on my own..... I get the chrono on friday so will have a dable with it then....

    fingers crossed.

 i agree with you both on the power issue, i would take it upto 11fp max (but be aware, some pellets can still take you over the limit :good: ). how old is your s16? is it still under warranty? if so, re-assemble (without marking it) & take it back for a refund :sly:

  3. A good few years ago now was plinking in my mates garden with my then brand new and shiny BSA Superstar (lovelly under-barrel cocking rotating breach loader some of you may remember). Smiffy was a bit of a weedy lad as I remember and had some problems cocking the gun. Oh dear.

I wandered off to get a drink off his mum and came back to find smiffy missing a small section of his chin, clarret all over the place and the gun on the floor with a bent cocking lever :( After sorting him out I worked out what he'd done - he'd only turned the gun round, butt on the deck and with both hands tried to cock the thing by pulling down the lever towards him over handed style.

To this day I don't know how it actually happened that the lever came back up and smacked him on the chin on the way up, he says he doesn't remember either but he's still got the scar on his chin to remind him to not do that again.

I couldn't afford to fix the rifle and it got left like that up until recently I found it in my folks loft. I have ordered a new cocking lever and catch and intend fixing it, I loved that gun :(

:yp: maybe hadn't quite latched when he let go :yp: i bet it hurt when he did it :good::P:sly::sly: bad luck, hope you get it fixed

  4.

I see you have a shotgun conversion on your ratcatcher, i was thinking of getting one for mine, is it worth it?

:yp: well worth it. all you need is a .177 smoothbore barell & bolt kit. best used with steel bb's but works fairly well with lead bb's, cannot use pellets as they are too tight (bore is more like .175).

    can you convert it back?

:yp: easily, but if you want a smoothbore barell, you may have to order it from crossman or through a dealer (it's known as a ".177 shotgun barell", you may also need to order a .177 bolt & breech at the same time). the barell also comes fitted with a magnet to retain the bb's :P . fitting is easy, the hardest part is finding the right sized allen-key for the bolt located in the base of the breech as it's a non-standard size :( . simply undo the screws from the breech assembly, lift the assembly with the barell (taking care not to lose the seal to the barell's airport & taking note of which way up the small metal tube goes. also take care of the rubber seal beneath it, this is vital to ensure a good seal) :sly: alternatively, you could ask your friendly local gunsmith to fit it for you  another thing you could do is buy a crossman 1377 & swap with the barell & breech from that, this would give you a ratcatcher .177 rifled 12" piece of kit to play with :sly::good:

  6. i'm thinking of having my bsa spitfire used for parts to a completely new rifle :) - it will supply the barrell & trigger / hammer mech. forget the rest, other parts will be built from scratch. will include a 1l american-made air cylinder (air-arms type), which could give me around 700 shots at 11fp off one charge! :good: (i know of a man who can :( ). i haven't decided what to call it yet, any ideas?

:( thinking..........shirley (it's gonna put one straight to the temple :) )

  7. Everyone I have shot has been fine

 Im glad to here it :yp: :):)

Of course fine is relative they have all been dead which i suppose isn't fine for the rabbit.

    LOL

I don't know about rabbits with Mixi, but I once ran over one with my Maxi!

    I'll get my coat...

    :lol: :( :( :blush::blush::blush::good:

 haven't seen any signs of myxi around these parts yet, but not seeing many rabbits on my current shoots (actually, my mates shoots) - isn't very much fun

  8. This is gonna sound a little strange.... two slices of toast and Marmite a day works for me. They say you either love or hate it and midges seem to hate it. I go shooting and fishing with the ol' man (who hates Marmite) he gets eaten alive and I get one or two bites at the most.......or maybe I just smell bad :(

    P03

    :no: it's a good job i love it, and i do :blush::blush::lol::lol:

Avon skin so soft ................Yep thats the one :(

Some strange concoctions there fella's ............keep the replies coming in ................On a personal note ...I recently read an article on Badger urine being good in a 2004 edition of country life whilst waiting for the car to be mot'd :good::):)

Quite a normal thing to the ruperts I imagine :lol: :yp:

Never use badger urine. :o :o If you dont want to get TB.

 mmmmmmmm..... don't fancy that one myself

  9. You should ALLWAYS use gloves when dealing with rats. The disposable ones are good, make sure they dont rip.

Another salution, is an air rifle. Isint their not a thing in the UK, where you can get an air rifle without a licence? As long as its under a certain Ft pound?

When i lived in the Uk back in the early 80s, i use to have a BSA Mercury s, found it great for poping off rats and safe.

Sorry about your uncle  .

    Frank.

:( sloter, sorry for your loss mate :) . it's obvious he wouldn't want you to feel miserable, so you try to enjoy yourself, & get the little ***** :good: . air arms are a good investment, particularly in close quarters like built-up areas. but BE CAREFUL, make sure you have an adequate backstop (sheets of wood should be fine, just leave them there for a little while so the rats get used to it), also make sure you don't shoot outside your boundary as this could get you into lots of trouble :( . where power is concerned, up to 6 ft/lbs for a pistol (very few actually reach this level), up to 12 ft/lbs for a rifle before requiring an fac. if it's just for occasional use, then a spring rifle would be ideal. there are a great many air arms available, take a look & decide for yourself (it would also be worth investing in a silencer in your case so as not to disturb neighbours, some are specific to some weapons, so don't rush into anything) :)

  10. "Old bessie". mind i call my guitar that aw well. i have a theory that if you give something a female name you look after it more.

Tried that but I found it doesn't do the washing up or cleaning.

:( on the up side, it doesn't take all your money & spend it on shoes that'll never be worn either :good::):) :(

  11. watch it with an ox i had 1 fitted to my bsa supersport and it put the power up way over the limit and the recall made the scopes move even tryed putting 4 mounts on it still moved i didnt cut it down it was longer but it went in and on the packet it said for the supersport it shook the gun too pieces :)

:) bad luck mate  but i think even if it's for the gun specified on the packet, you should consider cutting it down to size :good:

  12. :) not used the 410 myself yet, but i gave my mate a few pellets to try in his, he LOVED them! (fairly recent 'bsa interceptor' hollowpoint, around £5 a tin of 500, currently only available in .22 - i'm waiting for .177 :) ) these pellets work well in almost any rifle or pistol & i would highly reccommend them to anyone. great for some of us who want a very reliable, good quality controlled pellet at an affordable price :good:
  13. :) just cut 8 inches off my barell, now getting a thread cut onto it for my weihrauch silencer (whisper-mode! :good: )

Be interesting to see what power reduction that gives you. As Co2's efficiency takes a nose dive with shorter barrels.

    Tony

 as the silencer is a long one, it does shoot pretty much as good as it did when i bought it, still on target on our 35 yard range :) . i didn't realise that about co2 weapons, i assumed they reacted the same as pcp or springers when the barell is cut down (affects accuracy a little, power may go up slightly?)

  14. Cheers lads, going home in a months time to have al ook at my mates diving bottle hopefully it will be just what im looking for, and if not i might go down the road of using a pump

:( mmmmmmm........pump is good... never have to worry about testing every 2 1/2 - 5 years, never have to pay for refills & gets you plenty of excercise :good::):) on the other hand, it's advisable to get a dust filter & moisture trap with the usual kit of hose, guage (sometimes come fitted to the pump, saving you a little money :( ), etc... (these are very inexpensive but will be a lifesaver!), you may also need the seals changing once in a while. other than that, pumps require little maintainance & should last you a very long time
