  1. Definte Heinz job there! I tend to agree, there looks to be a bit of muscovy action!
  2. Yes, I know you're exceptionally generous with your invites. It is rewarding to see a friend buzzing after sharing a good day.
  3. Yes, I've got to agree that. Whirlies and flappers are an essential part of my kit, even on days where you're in the right spot they increase the chances you get - provided they're used correctly. Why not use the technology?
  4. Great write up of what sounds like a fantastic day all round. If JD could market days like that, how much would they go for? A very generous host.
  5. Yes, very well handled. Your reputation goes before you, but you did well not biting.
  6. A horrible situation to be in. Guilty or innocent, it's hard to see how the syndicate can continue next season with this type of accusation left hanging. I'm fortunate to be a member in a very well run syndicate and we have never had anything like this. It would ruin the whole set up.
  7. You're in particularly good nick at the minute JD. Keep at them.
  8. It's an all too common problem I'm afraid. I used to take quite a few "acquaintances" from work out pigeon shooting. Showed them the patch and gave them a few decent days. One day found out that 2 of these guys had approached one farm and said I'd given them permission to shoot! Fortunately the farm manager saw through them and sent them packing. They never mentioned their deception, even asking me "When are we going out next?" Their invite is permanently lost in the post. Not all people are as slimy as this, like one member mentioned it can be extremely rewarding to introduce newbies to the sport but when you get **** on it doesn't encourage you to do it again.
  9. Outstanding day once again following a nightmare day. I thought those kind of things only happened to me! Clover is the main pull on my patch too but no great numbers as yet.
  10. I saw that post too. If I remember rightly there were 8 guns spread over a number of cover crops. It was an impressive photo.
  11. Sorry, but you made me chuckle there. Keep at it, god loves a trier and all that!
  12. I too have an FF5 from Flightline, and I'm very impressed with it. Good quality piece if kit. ALso have an A1 Turbo Flapper which is decent. I recently broke a connecting rod on my FF5 and Nick from Flightline couldn't have been more helpful. He sent out replacement rods foc. Currently saving my pennies for their new Auto Bouncer. Looks the business.
  13. Welcome to the forum. Good advice as ever from Aga Man. Keep persevering with the rape, you will learn the flight lines and likely hide positions on your patch. Hopefully you will be rewarded at harvest time when it can be easier to make bigger bags.
  14. Been out spotting at lunch time today and coincidentally found a very good line into a field of clover. Intending to shoot tomorrow but i don't like the look of the forecast. 20-25 mph NE winds off the sea with constant sleet showers is not my idea of fun. Will venture out and see what the day brings
  15. Agreed, I usually have a couple of decent bags around spring time on sheep pastures. Birds usually decoy very well as the decoy birds stand out like sore thumbs.
  16. Very good point. Unless you're unemployed, retired or work from home, how can you give all that time to a dog? Modern living just does not allow that to happen. My labs have always been kennelled outside, exercised morning and night and are as fit as the proverbial butchers' dogs. They were gradually introduced to being alone in the kennel for longer periods and are absolutely fine.
  17. Friday was a nithering day in Northumberland. Fair play to the lads who set up on an exposed hedge line. Your sheltered spot sounds good business to me.
  18. Very good table birds. I shoot enough for a good meal 2 or 3 times a season.
  19. Lucky lad. I'm surprised he's kept his certificate. Unless it was securely stored on the train?
  20. Great pic. That looks like a real man's gun!
  21. Flood and tidal surge warnings all along the east coast. Stay safe if you're going out lads. No amount of ducks and geese are worth risking your life for.
  22. Nice one JD. You can't beat being out on wild days like that.
  23. What a field that has been for you! Keep filling your boots while you can.
  24. Brilliant films and a fantastic bit of kit that I'm sure if we're all honest we would all like to have, even just to look back on a day! Keep them coming please Duffryn.
  25. Smashing looking dog. Great pic all round.
