western incubator information wanted
PheasantMan replied to kevm's topic in Gamekeeping and Shoot Management
I think it will probably be a sensor/dodgy connection. THink we got a couple more westerns for sale if you want them lol -
Theres alot of people doing stuff like this at the moment weve had problems with equipment and turkeys going missing all our main fields are fenced around the edges 6ft high with metal gates which are padlocked 24/7 along with angled barbwire along the top + 4 police reject alsatians living in the pens. Night time farm entry lazer detection you name it lol weve got it. Had alot of problems in the past if its not people taking stock there taking equipment or its Animal Aid Sneaking around the pens trying to film stuff (that actually happend a few years ago) We had country file here filming here last year after thieves cut trhough the fence and stole some turkeys cant remember how many.

Worming pheasant and partridge
PheasantMan replied to Paul223's topic in Gamekeeping and Shoot Management
Im fully aware of that. Thanks -
Hexamita's Never good! Seemed to be everywhere last year especially in partridges. So far this year we have had no reports of hexamita in poults on the farm or in release pens. Although i think when people start taking partridges we may see higher infections i think the weather is a big factor!

lol Im not sure where exactly it would be in regulations and wouldnt know where to start but i do know our vets are 1 of the most respected poultry vets in the UK and worldwide. The team are members of the BIAC Expert Opinion Division and the European Poultry Veterinary Study Group so they know there stuff! This is the from we would use to obtain "informed consent" http://www.stdavids-poultryteam.co.uk/game-bird-services/informed-consent-form.aspx -

It is possible from specialist poultry vets to get "informed consent" If you obtain this from your sepcialist vet it is possible to use panacur throughout the lifetime of your birds without the need to obtain a new prescription. For use of mdeicinal products under the "cascade". This is an "off label" prescription. Under UK legislation where there are no suitable medicines specifically authorised for the treatment of a particular species or a particular medical condition in that species, a medicinal product authorised for a different medical condition, or for use in another animal species or in humans, or under certain circumstances an extemporaneously prepared product. We work with the feed companys and leading, game farms (including mcfarlane's in america) and vets worldwide, Testing new drugs and trying to get pure breeds back to how they should be as there has been so much cross breeding, pure breeds are very hard to come by especially the old english black neck. If the drugs we used where not suitable we would most definatly not be using them. We have just tested new mycoplasma and worming drugs in our feed this year and i was still forced to use panacur at the end because they just didnt work. Just because your aware of the law it dosnt mean your correct. To The OP this is reccomended does which is on our vets website: http://www.stdavids-poultryteam.co.uk/game-bird-services/medication-dose-rates.aspx -

And your presuming he does not have a prescription to use panacur. It is used by the many of the leading game farms in the country including ours We use one of the best specialist poultry vets in the country and he reccomends us to use panacur. So let me be clear to you: Its not illeagal (with prescription) And is definatly not in anyway irresponsible. Every drug used in the treatment of most animals including poultry will build up resistance eventually obviously. Having flubenvet in your feed will help with worms but in no way gets rid of them thats a fact. -

I Dose mine strait into the drinkers. I put 5ml per bell drinkers. Theres no rules really depends how bad they are. You cannot over dose them so dont worry too much. -
Check fuses, insure you check the fuel pump relay, it could be you fuel pump gone aswell

Rearing huts gas heaters or elctric
PheasantMan replied to sambo's topic in Gamekeeping and Shoot Management
Gas is the best option i would say. Do you already have gas heaters? I think electric would be very costly to set up and run. We have electric to all of our big sheds already for lighting ect but we still use gas heaters. -
Wing clipping poults
PheasantMan replied to Ferretboy111's topic in Gamekeeping and Shoot Management
I wouldnt say its much easier, at that age there reactions are not really that great i can catch a non wing clipped poult when it gets out which means a fox can too I think it just easier for the keeper having them clipped rather than the fact a [redator can get them i think if a fox can get to them it will get them clipped or not -
Just thinking about swapping the mounts if i did that shorley it would just then shoot to low? I think packing the mounts may be what i have to do im slightly annoyed with gun shop because its not rite but i dont see the point in driving 40 mins to take it back for them to just pack the mounts themselves so i think i may just do that! Thanks again for the advice.

I really dont unerstand why i should have to do that though, I bought the gun with the scope already fitted it should work properly!!
