  1. I have had to do 2 fuel lines this year that have lasted no more than 2 years due to hardening and cracking so might go over to aspen in the less used tools. They love the stuff over on one of the cuting forums!
  2. He's going after thor!
  3. I would buy a 023 or if money allowed a 026, weight is the killer for bucking all day. 038s are great but would the extra weight be worth it? Im just a wimp so a light saw means I can do a full days work with a small saw and only bring out the big guns when needed.
  4. Whats your location and how much just for the towel?
  5. As above really, but it depends what you want it to do? The smaller ones are great for small tree work and are light enough to use all day but if you start feelling and bucking up bigger trees then a bigger saw is better.

    dwp tossers

Nobody told you? All the moneys gone, some bankers lost it all down the back of the sofa.
  8. Shutter speed no longer than 15 sec, used to love going up to carn brea on a clear night in summer and seeing so many stars. If you let me stay cheap I would love to do some light painting on a campsite!
  9. And how do they even know know what you have or who you have given it to? Oh wait........ What happens if someone "steals" it and you "steal" some money from them?
  10. Thats about all i would pay for one, new brake bands are not too expensive as long as all the links are there. Its going to be hard work using it all day as its a bit of a lump but certainly not underpowered! There is a issue with the 028s where nobody makes brake bands for them anymore so I would check you can get parts before buying it.
  11. Stihl consumer models have mostly plastic cases and are harder to work on when they do go wrong, going up to the pro models they have better access to the bits that go wrong and are designed to run all day. An example is the link between the carb and cylinder, a consumer model will have a rubber boot that links them and it will also act as a damper to the carb and will eventually fail where as a pro model will have a tougher link with reinforcement and a damper on the carb too. I could go on but most people will fall asleep! I run these saws aswell as build them up so can bore anyone!
  12. Oh I have been running a 023 for the last few years just because its light and can handle bigger stuff than the 017 that i used to have and cannot fault it, its a homeowner saw but has taken some right abuse and only needed a new carb and service.
  13. Old stihl numbers start at 017 018 for the smaller saws right upto 088 for the monster saw then the more moden saws are 170 180 to 880 again for the biggest, most parts are interchangeable ie 017 bits will fit ms170 and vice versa. There is the really old models that are well made but finding good ones is getting harder these days. 170, 180 are small light homeowners saws and are great for light use but mainly plastic. 026 is a great all round saw for pro use or hard home use 036 is a loggers saw 066, 880 are the big boys for running 36" bars and cutting monster trees up! I think this is about right!
  14. And i wait for the rebrand of these to alien slayer knifes.......
  15. I bit the bullet and bought what i thought was a rotatech and 2 turned up for £5.20, got one out and then realised its safety chain and thought its going to be **** but I was bucking 2 trees that were felled into a car park so they were prob going to be blunted at some point so stuck one on the 023 and it cut like its life depended on it! Worked it all day bucking both trees and cannot fault them especially for the money. I think they cut as good as oregon chains, just need to blunt one and see how it sharpens up.
  16. If your going to use sawdust from the green wood then its best to spread it on a tarp and let it dry out or it just rots away, you do get perfect mushroom growing compost if you dont though! If i had the money i would love to have my own bit of paradise to maintain.
  17. Buy a lada, cheap to insure built like tanks, nobody will steal it even if you leave the keys in it and you get the benefit of learning how to fix a car......every time you want to drive anywhere. Oh and it's impossible to break any speed limit.
  18. I had a puncture today, pump fell apart and had put the breaker bar in the other car last week so had to limp it home and fix it there!
  19. Welcome to the exploding bottle club! I vented again the other day and it seems to have calmed down now there in the inspection pit in the garage where its a constant temperature, getting excited and really want to have a sneaky taste but so far holding out.
  20. Im felling a couple of maples this friday.........
  21. Can i ask, I have never done a comp before is it ok for a noob to turn up and miss everything? Also whats a high gun?

  23. But at least with flux you can really put the thumbscrews on them, I called them and they wanted my buisines so much I saved £200 on my best quote.
  24. Im calling bs on these cartridges, I have seen them in 2 different style cases, all with gamebore headstamp not kent and the fact they print limited edition on them just seems odd. Is this just a ploy to sell a stack of carts with the slight discount that is offset by the increase in sales and to annoy other manufacturers? I do like them and saving £10 on a slab cannot be sniffed at over superfast ect.
