  1. All the above advise covers most things but I will chime in on a couple of other things to think about. have all your emergency supplies carried in/on your buoyancy aid and have a test whilst in the water that you can access them and use them whilst floating around in the water as these things are of no use strapped to the kayak in a dry bag if you are in the water or the kayak floats off without you on it! having a couple of day and night flares can be really useful for guiding in emergency services given you are such a small target on the sea. normally it’s not you that gets into trouble if you do everything right but you may come across others in trouble so be ready for that, there’s nothing like coming round the corner to see a sinking dingy with people in the water with no life jackets on to really make you think about these things,That’s just one of the fun events that we used to come across.
  2. Thanks for the info, I am working off pictures and trying to make them look period correct for the rifle, did a couple of test cuts today with a custom tool to get the curved bullet tip and they came out quite nice, the proper ones will be a lot smoother I really just wanted to try a couple and see if they looked ok. I tried to make a gp90 and a gp90/23 they are aluminium heads as steel would be too much grief to cut!
  3. Should be, if you still cannot find it then you could try asking them for a copy of the map with its location on it, you never know they might give it to you!
  4. Yellow one marked H, it should have 2 numbers on it one is the pipe size the other is the distance from the marker.
  5. Shame there are no carver clamps in there, those things are all you will ever need.
  6. Found a hand reloading kit I bought ages ago but it’s missing the crimp starter so if anyone has a 6 point they are wanting rid of let me know. thanks
  7. If you want it off your hands I will gladly take it. Still waiting for my metal delivery to make up some authentic looking bullets which has given me time to find out that the paper patch can be made from masking tape, It should look right and I have tons of it kicking about.
  8. From what little I know on these things I have never seen one with a marker post, all those are for main service valves and the hydrant, it should be a small about 4-6” cover no doubt well overgrown and without a map showing the pipe run then you might need a metal detector to find it! at work they built a boules court over the stop taps which was helpful.
  9. I did have a look at those but have been advised against them. Thanks to everyone for getting in touch I should have enough now to keep me going.
  10. Making up some mostly period correct looking inert bullets for for a Schmidt Rubin rifle ammo pouch.

    PCP

There is a pcp on the airgunsbbs forum for sale at bang on £200, not seen anything cheaper for a while.
  12. I ran mud tyres on the rear and all terrain tyres on the front last winter and nothing bad happened, there must be a small difference in size between the two given the more aggressive tread pattern on the muds. All my diffs are still intact for now.
  13. Good idea, they will be paper patched and will be pushed in by hand so will be easy to inspect should the need ever arise. i did have a thought on the primers and making sure they were safe, if I installed them the right way round but drill a hole in them which would mimic the firing pin mark so it be obvious at close inspection there was nothing in there and it was totally inactive.
  14. Hi I am looking for any reloaders who have used/fired large rifle primers They want rid of. Happy to pay for them, 36 is the minimum amount needed but happy to take whatever even if I have to sift through different ones or sort good from bad thanks
  15. Thanks for the advice, I think to be totally safe that might be the way to go even though the bullets will not fit in the gun. i did have a look at some ready made ones but the price is quite high and they do not have the paper patched ones I want to be of the right period for the gun. They do state that they oil the primers to deactivate which seems quite dangerous Given what you have said so will stay away from them!
  16. I am looking to make some for Swiss 7.5 x55 (supposed to be 53mm) but don’t think it makes any difference for display purposes. i have not found any used brass so was going to just shell out for new ones. To be honest I don’t know what size the primers are, did not even know they were different sizes! Just checked and it says large rifle primer.
  17. Hi I have a old rifle that I would like to make a load of inert display bullets to go in the magazine pouches and although I can get new inert primers would it be possible to put fired primers in the cases? I have no experience of loading bullets so a bit lost on wether this is possible or not. if this is possible does anyone have any they want rid of? thanks all
  18. The Honda small 4 stroke engines are a exercise in cost cutting, had two failed ones and am still using my old husky 2 stroke strimmer. the biggest advantage is the fumes being better on a 4 stroke but not convinced on a strimmer it’s the way forward.
  19. They never made it to the uk but I would love a roof palomino
  20. It’s a fingerboard, made by metolius and is the simulator 3D model. About £80 new. bargain for anyone local.
  21. If you can stretch to a 125mm grinder Aldi of all places look to have one with a slim 9” type handle for the huge sum of £19.99
