  1. A chap once told me that his fur baby that was running around barking wasn't aggressive. I just told him I ******* am! He got the message 🤣
  2. If I have an engine that needs a bit of help to get going I use carb cleaner. Does the same as easy start but much less harsh. Not something I use routinely, just on engines that won't start due to being stood overwinter etc. None are addicted to it so I don't think I have broken any rings. You don't get that awful knocking you get with easy start.
  3. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/144372097640?hash=item219d3f6268:g:TLQAAOSwMkVgDSHa Thin stainless but has a flat bottom. A very good make and I have quite a few things made by them, billy cans, tiffins etc. Very well known in camping/outdoor cooking world
  4. How old was number 6 out of interest? @JohnfromUK
  5. The bricks were well protected as it goes, the brickies complained they were too dry and sucked the mortar dry too quick. Some were laid in very hot dry weather and the brickies actually resorted to dunking each brick to wet them a bit. Initially these did stand out as whiter but you wouldn't be able to tell now. The pressure washer made no difference at all, neither better or worse. The worst bit is the gable end that gets the most rain and the most sun, obviously the wetting and drying process doing the most. My plan from the start was to build a very traditional building that looked like all the orange farmhouse brick buildings in the area. I used what was supposed to be a replica brick from Imperial Brick Co and instead of being orange/red it is more like pink. It is uniform over the building for the most part so it isn't as bad as it could be but it is nothing like what I wanted. In hindsight I wish I had used reclaimed brick instead. Not to worry. As for weathering over time, there is one house I know that has looked awful since it was built and that is probably 20 years old. So not sure how much time is needed but more than I have got at that rate. A new house down the lane from me has similar problems and theirs does look bad, at least mine actually looks OK just not what I wanted, I can live with mine but would be very disappointed if it looked like the one down the lane.
  6. Thanks for the answers. No way is this stuff going to brush off unless some kind of wire brush on a drill but that will damage the bricks and/or make them look even worse. Had a quick go with a pressure washer on a small patch and that didn't do much, if anything. It is a shed so doubt it is covered by any warranty. Built to house spec, cavity wall etc.
  7. My newbuild has turned white. Has anyone got a method they have used to remove efflorescence, particularly from new brickwork and it is the bricks rather than the mortar. The amount of new builds around here that have got this problem is incredible, I was told it's because they are using sand dredged from the estuaries to make the brick.

    It's a mystery

A friend is renowned for rehousing cockerels. What a lot don't know is they go straight in the pot.
  9. I usually do mine every 13 months or so.
  10. Are you sure that is what it means because it isn't how I read it. The link posted doesn't mention magpies, jackdaws or jays in the changes
  11. Mine is £2k more than that 😞 And for that we get the binmen coming and dropping loads of litter once a week. Band G so no rebate either.
  12. That is cheap! Great guns, very accurate but a little bit on the heavy side ( probably doesn't come into it unless you are old and fat like me) Good luck with the sale. 👍
  13. it amazes me how many are hoodwinked here never mind Russia
  14. You should probably say what calibre it is.
  15. Yes. Might just be for annoyance though. Most likely not connected at all.
  16. My first thought was that it was related to Boris visiting UAE recently and P&O having Arab owners plus him making a deal with Iran. Is it just a coincidence?
  17. B&M, Lidll, Aldi and failing that your local garden centre. It is getting a bit late for those places though because they usually sell them quite early in the year.
  18. Mum grew an enormous chilli plant that was covered in fruit last year, it was quite spectacular. As an afterthought I decided to grow some from seed off that plant but we had eaten all the chillies, so I went to her greenhouse and sure enough there were a couple still left on the floor all dried up. We sadly lost Mum a few weeks ago and in the following days my grandson and I sowed those chilli seeds and hoped for the best. They were up within a week and I have 37 out of 40 seeds that are just coming into first true leaves. I was hoping for one or two. Mum was a fanatical gardener and its a nice way to remember her.
  19. My best dishwasher was £30 from a car boot sale, lasted about 10 years.

    Early Spring?

The ravens are pairing up here which seems late to me. 15th of March is normal budburst date on my apples and looks to be the same this year. ( I grow apples, budburst date is important to me)
  21. Whippet X Ridgeback but you would need more pics for a better guess.
  22. Doesn't appear to be any less cars on the road yet, which surprised me. It will bite before long and I think a great many people are going to suffer quite a bit. Wait until their electric bills start coming in. My direct debit payments have gone from £36/month to £136/month for the same usage and they are set to rise again in October.
  23. Not sure when or where you bought it but I saw one very recently in a gunshop near you, that was 11th of Feb. I very nearly bought it myself but believe it or not I opted for a Baikal instead. Been after one in 12G for ages and they had a nice one in. I did say I'd be back the following week for the other one. No regrets on the Baikal but wished I'd bought both.
