  1. I would ring or email north wales FEO directly and ask if land has been checked already and for what calibre. Unless you already know no land check has ever been done.I am in Merseyside but have emailed other areas directly and got a favourable reply within 24 hours.
  2. Tell your manager to stuff his job (great experience) and work your notice then enjoy your early retirement on less income. I think you may find you can manage on a lot less. That is almost exactly what I did and went two years with only my wife's part time income coming in before my state pension kicked in.Now both retired and with minimum income but loving retirement having had my fill of work over my lifetime.Certainly don't' expect the state to subsidise an early retirement. It's true that money is not everything.
  3. I have had one in a thousand hornady rounds do this, only the primer had fired and sent the round 1 inch up the barrel, the lack of sufficient 'bang' and not seeing or hearing the impact alerted me and my mate to the mishap and averted an accident.I have always been alert to something like this happening whatever rounds I use and in whatever rifle.Every round I fire I look for the impact of the round, if I don't see an impact for whatever reason I check bore is clear before reloading another round, it normal practice for me, before and after the first and only time it has happened.
  4. It is the link piece that operates one of the sears on the selector mechanism IMO.( may have used wrong terminology as I don,t have parts diagram to hand)Take stock off and check operation.
  5. Armeria sport guns (Spain) will supply all spare parts and will email a parts breakdown if you need it.Problem could be internal on selector mechanism and not firing pin.I have spoken with them recently but not dealt with them as yet.
  6. If the land is already passed for your calibre your 'good to go'.
  7. I have a Fabia 1.9 diesel VRS (2005 plate) and had it for 7 years.I cannot fault it to date.It isn't quick off the mark but will catch pigeons in third gear assuming I can find one currently.Service it every year and not a single problem to date. Trip computer registered 65 mpg over a 55 mile round trip the other day so quite frugal if driven with care. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Skoda cars with my experience of this one.
  8. Up to three / four weeks ago had literally thousands of woodpigeon doing the same around one of my permissions.Lofting decoys was the only thing that brought me a bit of good sport. Make the most of it.
  9. Thats a cracking video, good find.
  10. if 12 balls of lead are taken from 1lb of lead each ball would equal the bore of a 12g shotgun. Likewise 4 balls for 4 bore, 20 for 20 bore etc. (just too late )
  11. I would continue shooting the pigeon and has been said refer anyone to your farmer and let him argue the toss.I would not bring the FEO into the equation. They would, IMO not be interested in your dilema but would assume your 'written permission' was not valid, possibly causing you greater problems.Do not alienate the estate owner but request that he speaks to the farmer to over come the problem that he has, try to show that you are responsible and would benefit him also. I would have thought that if the estate controlled all shooting they would have 'stopped you shooting' by now. It's one thing to have all shooting rights and another not to want some one shooting vermin on part of your game shoot. Let the farmer know your concerns, (without causing him a problem) and be reassured by his response.
  12. Got to be other ways to 'rod' or hand drill the pellet out, after all it's only a piece of lead. Heating barrel would never enter my head to remove a stuck pellet. As it's already been done test firing at a target is the only way to test its accuracy.
  13. Lots of fly fishermen on PW so thought I would put it on here first. Very early 'FLY DRESSER'S GUIDE' by John Veniard, 1952. First Edition. A very good copy (IMO) in green cloth hardback with gilt lettering. Well worth £13, posted. pics if required.
  14. I have done just that in the past. EMAILED FEO in the area that the land was situated ( not my area) and said that I had been asked to help with pest control and what calibre (if any) the land was passed for. Received a reply same day telling me the maximum calibre it was already passed for. Therefore no need at all to be recorded on my information on file.
  15. I have a Little Acorn from Huff Huff, model 5210A (image size reduced to fit)
  16. Received first post ,thanks for a good deal Jega.
  17. Hi and welcome. PS. Are you the only Gunner in the village? (this is how the forum works)
  18. If you only get one it shows you are making a start, I would sit out at best ambush spot and aim to get one or two to show landowner. Good luck.
  19. Give FEO a ring and ask for a time frame for your land check, go out with air rifle and shotgun meanwhile to show landowner your willing.
  20. Your welcome anytime Ace01,enjoyed it myself too. By the way, having spoke about possible dud rounds blocking rifle bore to make you aware of it, we happened to see this actually happen with the HMR and that was a first for me also, so one good lesson learned and reinforced. Blockage cleared within a minute when I got home so right tool for the job will now be carried in car. Feel sure your FAC appllcation will be successful.
  21. I've had exactly the same problem but with a different gun in the past.Take the stock off and look, you will see the problem if you try firing the problem sequence.I am not knowledgeable enough it explain it in more detail.
  22. Was that shoot eleven get one free? You had a good day in my book, well done..
  23. Looks like they have a boulder from a previous incident also in the vineyard.Scary stuff.
