  1. Really helpful people here. To tell the tale I found a little used but very reasonably priced Mossberg 535 plastic stocked wildfowling musket locally. I try and take people wildfowling as my guest to "indocrinate" them into the sport. In many cases it is useful to have a spare gun with 3.5 inch chamber as in the bad light it means that nobody loads an overlength cartridge. Anyway the only problem was that it didn't have a choke key. I rung saddlery and gunroom asking for help and they promised to drop one in the post but would I pay for postage and packing. The key itself was free. A couple of days later it arrived through my door. To say I was pleased with the service is an understatement. David.
  2. Hello, how many and which chokes and what constrictions? David.
  3. Get one of the plumbers long tubes for copper pipe and put it on the roof? David.
  4. Mind you if I had put "n" in instead of "nn" in annus I would have been bottom of the class! 😉 David.
  5. Actually nothing wrong with this bit of latin spelling. Sorry to disappoint you. 😊 David.
  6. Nobody in their right mind sells a BPS!!!!!!!!!!! 😁 David.
  7. The man is an idiot. He said on R4 that today was his "two week anniversary" !!!!!!!!!!! Anniversaries only come up once a year. The clue is in the name, from the latin annus a year. Why did he get the job if he can't comprehend something as simple as that. David.
  8. I use MacWets all the time, thin ones in summer thicker ones in winter. David.
  9. The trouble is if the traffic is very heavy the system enriches the mixture for every start, so if it is happening very frequently it may actually be more polluting. (Please don't ask mw where the line should be drawn because I don't know) Some of this stuff actually seems to be voodoo science, like the push for diesel espoused by ignorant politicians, because the greens wanted it even though people were warned at the time about the risks of NOx emissions. People say they weren't warned but they were, it is just a smokescreen pushed out by the ignorant but loud mouthed. David.
  10. The premium on a new one seems to be between 4 and 6 thousand! David.
  11. I am just back from my holidays and have had a look at the candidates for the current election. I am not sure who to vote for, but I must say I am very dubious about the way BASC is currently run! So my question is, why elect someone who has been on council before and therefore has had a hand in getting the organisation to its current position? David
  12. You could do worse than to do your DSC1. A good course in my opinion. David.
  13. At the moment Wales against Ireland is a long way off and need not/should not be thought about. We have to get past Scotland first. One game at a time is Gatland's mantra and he is right in that respect. David.
  14. How many would have turned out in the middle of the holidays? Just asking you understand! David.
  15. As someone who spent a bit of time doing medical photography professionally the kit to do proper retinal scans is pretty sophisticated. The lens required and the illumination system are unlikely to be found on the average phone. If you put something the size of a phone close to and in front of the eye it is going to be dark in there. David.
  16. My first FAC was for a 22lr, 223 and a 7 x 64. Get all your paperwork in order and think about exactly what you are going to say and how you are going to logically answer the most difficult questions they can ask. Good luck, David.
  17. I saw them in Aberdeen when I was a student. Balmedie beach before the Donald got there. Hurtigruten did have an offer which stated if you went on one of there specialist Northern Lights trips and didn't see them you got another trip. Whether this still stands I don't know. I think on the cruised you get your board and lodging but the booze price will make you wince. Take your duty free allowance. David.
  18. The Manchester price is pretty well what I pay for PPU in 223! David.
  19. I sat in one the other day and they have fixed the reason I finally gave up on them. Being tall I used to find the shelf on the door where the window and mirror controls were kept used to give me terrible pain in the knee. They have got rid of the shelf by moving the controls Gloriously simple solution so I think it is a great idea. Still has great off road potential I reckon. Like all the Jimny predecessors it is what it is. David.
  20. Have you thought of putting a couple of boxes of standard shells through it to bed it all in and polish the running surfaces? David.
  21. I don't really think so on a number of grounds, but the main one was that of the four people in the Paris car, one was wearing a seatbelt and survived and three weren't and died. Crashing one of those big mercs with everybody strapped in just isn't a reliable enough way to get the job done. David.
  22. Well at least he was smart enough to wear his seatbelt, unlike a certain princess! David.
  23. I suspect a lot of the trucks, and I see it on the North Wales Expressway, are foreign registered and are probably not pursued as rigorously as they might be. David.
