  1. Hi Brian, Is the Pard still available, Regards Nick
  2. Comrade Baikal needed but a sling, ordered through Soviet spares for the working man. Job done, a rather functional, yet fetching, green canvas affair with genuine Yak leather reinforcing tabs. I am out tomorrow foraging, pictures to follow. Regards Nick.
  3. Well I was in Mick's room of Many Things for at least an hour. I was somewhat alarmed at the number of desirable objet d' art there were, beautiful examples of English gunmaking (out side, WELL outside of my humble budget) yummy auto loaders and "project" guns for the working man. I went home with two Soviet O/U (1974 vintage) and two project guns, so a happy bunny.
  4. The strangest thing..........I picked up the Baikal O/U up today from Mick's place and somehow ended up going home with four shotguns!!!! Took me two hours to get to Mick's Emporium of wonder and all the time I was repeating....I must be strong, I must be strong......well, I wasn't !! A privilege to meet you and yours Mick, Thanks. Regards Nick
  5. I will take this, just to prevent undue stress and suffering, Wabbitbosher is just cruel. Regards Nick
  6. I like to carry my old Baikal single twelve when I fancy doing a bit of simple foraging, especially in the autumn. I tend to use my blackpowder 1oz home loads as the reward/fun factor is so high. The recoil is an issue as well, the blackpowder loads have a different felt recoil, move of a shove than kick. With its 30inch barrel and a teeny bit of personalisation in stock extension and sling, my old Baikal is my 'go to' walkabout choice, leaving the semi auto in the cabinet for "heavy work" i.e squirrel drey poking etc.
  7. Hi there, Sorry to bother you, but do you still have the note 3 for sale? Regards nick
  8. If this is still available, I will take it. Regards Nick
  9. May I ask what county you are in? Security conscious as I am, that will be enough! I am interested. Regards Nick
  10. i could well be interested in your Yukon, I am not familiar with the base though. Regards Nick
  11. Hi Steve, I have just bought a rifle scope from Tony, it is always a worry when you send several hundred pounds to a complete stranger sight unseen (if you will forgive the pun!). I received the scope three days later well packaged and presented. The condition was as described, so I am happy with the service. I have never met Tony or bought from him before, but I would do so in the future. I hope this helps. Regards Nick
  12. The first centre fire rifle I bought was a Brno/Cz zk601 in .243, it doesn't really like 100grn ammo, it prefers 80 - 90 grn soft points. I bought this rifle 25 years ago as my working rifle, I am an Estate stalker/forester and I will never sell it, yes it is fair to call it a working class gun and the finish and fit is no where near as fine as on my 1980's vintage Sako, BUT…the Brno has never failed to fire, has accounted for several hundred deer and I don't know how many foxes. A combination of classic design and high quality materials means it will outlast me, it has served me well for the last 25 years and I don't regret buying the old girl, there is almost no bluing remaining on the barrel, but careful cleaning/oiling has preserved her well, I have no experience of more recent products though.
  13. I also forage with my single Baikal and reload paper hulls, but with 1 oz black powder loads and 7 1/2 shot (1oz) as well. I thought I was on my own in this, how refreshing to find there are others out there as well! I will ask my sons how to upload pictures for your amusement.
  14. I love the rifle, it is everything I love about food gathering which is what we do! I use single shots out of preference, my everyday gun I carry is a 12 bore 1964 Baikal with a 30 inch full choke with a sling. My other favourites are an Anschutz .22 single shot bolt action and a Rossi .38/.357 single shot break barrel carbine. I regularly shoot squirrels, rabbits and pheasants to take home as I live a subsistence lifestyle and the ONLY criteria is the the safe shot and humane killing of the animal. My license states all legal quarry for my firearms, I don't post pictures very often but I do appreciate other people making the effort especially good ones as above. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and mine is; if you are legally allowed to shoot pheasants with a small bore rifle and you do so for purpose of eating said animal and not just to kill it for fun and waste it, then how can any reasonable person object? Regards Nick
