  1. Advertising on behalf of our shoot captain. Please PM me for info and I will pass on your details. There is 1 remaining space in our small syndicate for a full gun with a dog. The shoot is approx. 7 miles from Skipton and covers just over 2000 acres. Most of the work days have been done this year and we have 700 poults in the pens doing well. Subs are £650 a season (plus a possible top up depending on wheat prices) and we have 18 guns making two teams. We shoot 8 days on a stand-a-day, beat-a-day format (4 days fully driven and beat 4 days) and the rest being a mixture of mini driven and walked up days (usually another 4/5 days shooting). A reasonable level of fitness is required as there is fair bit of walking up and down hills required.

    XL clay vest

Webley Scott clay vest. Size XL, worn once a few years back. £15 including mainland UK postage.
  10. Small friendly DIY shoot based near Whalley has a space for a half gun shooting 4 Saturdays plus any end of season clear up days. We put down over 400 birds a year (pheasant & duck) and shoot a relaxed mini driven format with everyone taking a turn to beat. Bags not important as to us it’s more about a safe day out with like minded friends and a few shots. Cost for half gun is £175 and maybe £20 to top up on feed later in the season. Guns with a working dog get priority. Send me a PM for more info.
  11. Hoggs moleskins, size 46 R. Used but very good condition and lots of life left in them. Price £20 which includes UK mainland postage.

    Rugby & injuries

The change to the rucking laws this season is a major factor if you ask me. Players are unwilling to commit to the breakdown for fear of giving penalties. That means the ball is coming straight back into play making the game faster. The more the ball is in open play the more tackles made so the amount of hits a player takes has increased. Plus the more the ball is in play the more the players work. People are going to contact while fatigued which is having an effect on injury numbers.
  13. I notice the title says "cheap 4x4". From that I assume you only plan to spend a couple of grand so whatever you buy will be a good few years old. You cant buy a car that is more than 10 years old and not expect to have the odd part fail. To me that is a major factor in your choice of vehicle in this case. I ran a 12 year old Maverick which was fantastic for shooting but sold it on due to the lack of available and cheap parts. To me a Nissan X-Trail would be a great choice as it fits your needs while there is enough of them around to ensure cheap part prices. Also if you need anything from the scrap yard such as a bumper or mirror there will be a good choice. If not the X-Trail then a Rav-4. Jap reliability with plenty of parts around to help keep the older vehicle on the road.
  14. Just paid £165 a ton of you don't mind bagging it yourself.....
  15. A few years back I bought these for something and nothing off Evilbay with the idea of putting them away for smart driven days (which I never do). Been sat in the loft and they no longer fit. Still brand new with the tags on, made by Coes of Ipswich. The label says 40L but no way are they a 40. More like a very slim 38L or 36L waist. They are free to a good home. All I ask it whatever the postage costs me you donate to HFH.
