  1. Half way through our first fit after knocking down a dividing wall. Of the ‘off the shelf’ stuff wren is the best (apparently from our joiner). We spent hours looking / reviewing. Eventually we went with a local big company who manufacture their own (we had a tour of the factory after we signed before anyone suggests they just buy them in) and the price difference wasn’t that much. At the end of the day, 99% of kitchens are chipboard and laminate so it’s all the same. The big difference is they make the kitchen to size, rather than best fit and use panels to fill in.
  2. When I could barely walk, shooting a cola can with a Belgian 410 single barrel hammer gun, it took 10 mins to build up the courage to shoot. After that first shot, I knew shotguns would be part of my life throughout.
  3. I’m after a handful (20) size b bits for 3-6 week old birds. Can anyone help me out? I can only get them in multiples of 1000 online. Happy to pay for them and postage.
  4. Just wondering how you (or any new owners) have got on with these.
  5. The plan is to stick to your very successful recipe. But - swap out 1/2 the normal sugar for brewing sugar, add some champagne yeast (sachet), increase the time in the 25 litre brewing tub to 14 days (depending on how it goes) and use carb drops in the bottles. I also plan on venting the bottles to stop them bulging. I’ve had some very drunk people in my house (garden) drinking home made sloe gin mixed with my elderflower champagne.
  6. I followed Philip’s (7diaw) advice last year from here and via PM - he was a massive help - It worked brilliantly. I’ve got 6 bottles left out of 48. Since then I’ve started brewing all kinds of stuff. Been planning this year’s batch for a month or so, got everything I need and going to make a few subtle changes. Will be an annual thing from now on.
  7. Set up costs can be big and time even bigger, even for a small shoot. Normally shoots build up starting with a few ex layers or a small pen and build up year by year (unless there are already pens / feeders etc on the land. Sending you a PM.
  8. Well well. No mention of the free stuff today and where you collect it from (bikes, computers etc etc). Just a warning to BJ….. Well knock me down with a feather….
  9. Well fill ya boots fella and good luck to you and everyone else. Ironically, move away from the borders and there is such an anti English feeling it’s unreal. What Scotland doesn’t realise is move away from Northumberland and Cumbria, a lot of the population want shot of you (and a border). I find independence sad, but inevitable. You make your bed and lie in it. The pessimist in me hopes you fail big time.
  10. Yet another ‘SNP’ rhetoric trip up. How many tax payers in Scotland as a proportion of the adult population?
  11. Cos in Scotland, SNP pays for everything.
  12. But The Republic of Scotland wants to be in EU and NATO so that’s irrelevant. As Scotland would have to spend (plus it employees people in SCOTLAND) and you seem happy with the East Coast Main Line paid for by the UK. So trains suit when it suits? More SNP lies, spin and rhetoric.
  13. So why do you need UK £? GERS….. ah yes, that is what was stopping you using your resources…..
  14. I suppose Angus R got voted in because there are many more gullible fools who listen to independence rhetoric (just like yourself).
  15. I’m done with them and changed to a independence supporter. I’ll queue to show my passport when crossing the border to see the wife’s family. I know who it will hurt more.
  16. Show your passport, get a visa, change your £ to € and over you go. Simples!
  17. Edinburgh Central voted in Angus Robertson. I’m gobsmacked, more proven sleaze than Boris…. I was the biggest support of the union, but now give them their independence, give them their share of the UK debt, build a hard border and don’t allow them back.
  18. I have a 28g browning cynergy Hunter. Love it with a 24-28gm load. Sweet shooting, less recoil than my Miroku 12g with a 32gm load. Stack up on lead if they stop selling it, after all, the market isn’t as big as the 12 / 20 brigade.
  19. At that range. 34gm 5 or 4 with open chokes will bring them down no problem. Shoot a pattern plate at that range with open or closed chokes you’d struggle to tell the difference. Most ‘Meer Mortals’ will struggle to hit anything at that range without worrying about the choke. I count myself in the bracket.
  20. They will actually fit a standard optima barrel. The thread will only be locked in half way, but the choke will line up. You could use them with regular checks to make sure they are tight. I have no idea why beretta made chokes with such similar names and threads in such similar places.
  21. Looking to try hatching half a dozen white pheasants to line up with our poults arriving. Seen small incubators and eggs on eBay. Anyone had any success?
  22. I had the AZ today. I took anti histamine last night and this morning and started on aspirin this morning and will finish the pack of 24 over the next few days. I take aspirin a week before long haul travel. Funny thing is, I never take tablets for anything else (apart from 2 months of terrible hay fever). 9 hours later, I feel tip-top.

    Homebrewing

I’m a glutton for a gadget. Bought a Pinter and just opened my first brew tonight. It’s slightly cloudy as I got a glug when first pouring and unsettled it, as the valve was blocked. It clears quickly in the glass so should be clear tomorrow. Very easy way to start. Condensation on the glass increases the cloudy look
  24. MM is only 25% BAME so I don’t know how or why she described herself as black. It’s similar to an attention seeking racing driver. The child (just over 10% BAME)? I’d wonder about skin tone, eye colour and hair colour / type if I’m honest.
