  1. Thanks for that, but already a member of Ford and Yapton Rifle Club. When I spoke to them, I was advised that they would not be unable to help me obtain my FAC. I got the impression that they are not primarily an FAC club and that I would have to join a club more recognised in that quarter. I think it may be with regard to the area that I'd be shooting in not being sufficient to obtain the license. It would seem to me that I must first get permission to shoot on land that meets with the regulations and then possibley the club will be able to help me with the rest.
  2. Hi Guys. I'm interested in upgrading from 12ft lbs to my fac. I know there's a lot legislation that covers this and rightly so. How does a begginer like me even get started? The rifle range that I'm a member of does have facilities for rim fire and fac air rifles, but are not able to assist me in obtaining my licence from new - I believe this is due to fac registration or possibley lack of appropriate facilities. I'd appreciate any advise, especially any one near to the Worthing area who may belong to a club that can help.
  3. Thanks for all the advice - the only bit that I choose to ignore is the squeaking part. In the dark my partner in crime is likely to think I'm the rabbit and shoot me instead!!
  4. I use Air Arms and find them to be fairly consistant. I did try some cheaper makes when I was on the firing range but found them to be very inconsistant. I don't know if it was the pellet or the S16 being pellet fussy, but Air Arms certainly works for me. How about you?
  5. Logun S16 Mrk 2, .22. Seems to attract a lot of critisism, but other than the weight, I've found it to be a lovely gun to use. Would be interested to know if a 1.77 is as effective as I'm looking to buy another Daystate and don't know which callibre to get.
  6. Hi Guys. Had my first trip to my new shooting patch last night. 12 acres of rough land encorperating fishery water ways. Probabley not the best night to go as the Arundel festival was on with an open air concert blasting out! The evidence of bunnies was everywhere and we couldn't wait for the light to dim. At the start of the evening we set up on a high point that gave good all round viewing for a considerable distance and decided to sit and wait. We waited and waited and but for one lone bunny at distance, nothing happened. We changed tactics and went walk about and found that certain areas seemed more popular than others but still couldn't get a clean shot. We were best way through the evening and still hadn't had a kill and so changed tactics again - we walked the opposite way round. Almost immediately I got my first kill, 25 yds with pellet right between the eyes. It was almost as if they were expecting us to come from the other direction and when we didn't, just stood there and looked at us! We'd already decided at this point to call it a night and walked back to the car park. As we got to the car park I could see another pair of eyes, but there was a mesh fence between me and the bunny. I decided to take the shot, and probabley more through luck than anything else bagged bunny number2 Not an over exciting night, but the knowledge gained from this one trip will save a lot of wated time on the next one. As an inexperienced bunny hunter I'd appreciate any words of wisdom from you more experience hunters.
  7. I cant imagine how it must feel for you guys that have the very large farm lands to shoot. I feel ecstatic at having aquired this small one and cant wait to pot some bunnies. Until now, the only other options I had was bunnies in a friends very large back garden or to go on vermin shoots through my rifle club. Now I have the exclusive right to shoot on my own patch and if no success, can fish instead!
  8. I use Air Arms with my S16 and had no problems. Did try Milbro Caladonian for cheapness but found I couldn't hit a barn door at 40yds. Guess you get what you pay for!
  9. Hi Guys. I've spent a very frustrating month contacting as many of the farms in my local area as possible, looking for somewhere to shoot. I've been met with the same reply to nearly all ''We have a syndicate that shoots here''. Having exhausted every local avenue, I was looking at areas further from home. As an avid angler also, I struck up a conversation in my local fishing shop about guns. He has a selection of spring loaded guns that he sells and I explained that I was having no luck at finding any where other than my local range to shoot on. To cut a long story short, he told me that he has 12 acres of land encorperating a fishery and he's happy for us to vermin shoot during the closed hours of 8pm to 8am.Its only a small site, but large oak trees grow from little acorns. Who'd have thought I'd get this land from a fishing shop - I'm going to try B&Q next!
  10. I must admit the weight of the gun is one thing I'd change if I could. best kept static on a bipod unless you're related to Arnie!

I can shoot fairly accurately to 70yds with my .177 Daystate, but it lacks the power to push the spinner over the top. I would seriously doubt that any shot over that distance would kill anything other than very small prey, if you can hit them at all!
  12. I've only recently got back into air guns and purchased a Logun S16 Mrk 2. I've had the gun for 10 months and despite the negative feed back on the Mrk 1, have been very impressed. I use mine for hunting and have found it to be very accurate. I've also moved a little up market and bought the Daystate X2 Merlyn LE .177. With a price tag of around £1100. Needless to say you would expect to get something a little special at that price and boy, am I not dissapointed. With only 100 of this model made (with mine as issue No. 37) they should also be a good investment. The maximum range that I've shot at my local rifle range is about 70 yards and up to this distance any stationary prey would not be missed! I'm that impressed that I'm looking to buy the flag ship of the range - The Airwolf. I've not used an electronic trigger as yet, but according to reports this only adds to the accuracy of the weapons.
