  1. Ha ill second that.Come on mods what do you say
  2. Well just seen sabs in the pub and he thinks it's a good idea
  3. No mate, heard mixed reviews. Have you?
  4. Lol I'm on arb talk but prefer it here.
  5. Ok I can see I'm going to get some stick for this. Maybe I should think things through a little more in the future. Now for my next question, how do I delete a post before paul223 reads it and destroys me in the pub. Still think its a good idea. Lol
  6. As title says, can we have a chainsaw forum? Most of us out doorsie guys own a saw or two and from time to time like to share what they've discovered or ask for help. What do you say mods?
  7. As said allready sign up to arbtalk and ask there, some big firewood boys on there.
  8. The biggest arb show is in about 5 weeks time (APF) that would be the place to show off your kit but not sure if you've left it too late to get a stand now. Very intrested in seeing what you've come up with. Do you want to sell the idea or the product? If it's the idea try googling Riko and give them a try. Without giving too much away may I ask what they will retail at? Am I right in presuming its for ringing smaller cord that doesn't require splitting or does it split to? Does it self load the bags. I'm excited please keep me informed, if the price was right I'd be intrested in buying one.
  9. I'm in dyserth 20 mins from mold 15 from denbigh
  10. I use FUDs, 18 in total and have had great success. You need a caller too but it's worked for me.
  11. Wow I'm touched johnny. I'd love to see the look on my bosses face if I was attempting a fell like that. We all take risks at work but wow that would of cost him. Still you've got to admire him, that guys got guts.
  12. Thanks, think figgy might have the right idea. I'll get it down and on the yard, then I'll just take it from there.
  13. I have access to a kiln but I thought rule of thumb for seasoning was 1 year an inch so a 2" diameter piece would take a year as it would season 1" each side. Not any obvious ones but I will have to climb it so possibly in the crown, won't know until I'm up there.
  14. Ok kes, I'll see how much interest I get and if it's worth doing I'll take the time to cut some up. Thinking about it I wouldn't have to make blanks out of the whole lot. I could just use the main heart wood and plank the rest. Haven't you got enough projects on the go kes lol.
  15. Ill have to look into it and get permission to dig, I don't have any machinery so might not be realistic but very tempting.
  16. Your right but I've seen milled walnut and think it would be stunning, especially after a good sanding & a polish. If I'm wrong & it's no good I'd rather no and I'll just plank it.
  17. Taking a decent sized walnut down in the next few weeks. Depending on the quality of the heart wood I'm thinking of milling it into gun stock blanks, possibly 4" diameter, 2ft by 1ft Is there a market for this or am I best planking it for work tops. Just want to do it justice and don't want to end up with a pile of walnut that I can't sell. I know I can shift planks but unsure about stock blanks. What are your thoughts. Thanks.
  18. An 880 would be far too heavy to use in the woods, it's a beast of a saw. You would need a mini mill if you wanted to cut beams and yes you also need the auxiliary oiler but that uses normal chain oil. Also your bar needs to have a sprocket on the nose because of the heat.
  19. Should also add you would need the mini mill attatch ment for vertical cutting.
