  1. 3 boxes (75) of Eley VIP - 28g Fibre 6's. £15, collected with certificate from Warrington, Cheshire. Cheers.
  2. The shoot was fantastic. It turned out to be fully driven rather than walk 1, stand 1. We finished on 55 pheasant, 5 partridge and a few pigeon if I remember right? All the guns got great shooting, and the food was brilliant too. We enjoyed it so much that we're looking to book another day in January. The rally didn't affect us this weekend, but the rain did, by christ it was wet! Still, we managed a few pheasant, and the first of the woodcock found their way into the bag too, courtesy of Bill
  3. Glad to hear you had a good day fellas, I knew you would!
  4. We covered some ground today! Due to a couple of holidays, this week's shooting team consisted only of me, Kevin and of course, Rolo the Labrador. An unusually quiet journey meant we were booted up, and ready to start at 09:00 sharp. Having spent most of the first shoot covering ground at one farm, we decided to start at the other one, hoping it would be full of pheasant - well we were wrong! I don't know if it's the abundance of wild food, lack of cold weather, or if Charlie has been helping himself to a few too many of our birds, but they were nowhere to be seen! Our search took us through some really rough areas that we wouldn't normally brave. You can just about make out Kevin amongst the tall gorse. Rolo flushed a woodcock near the end, but we were both too tangled to get a shot off, and unfortunately this proved to be the case for most of the woodcock today. We flushed 9 in total, but only managed to shoot at 3 - all of which were missed Sometimes you get one of them 'up against it today' feelings, and upon accepting that pheasant may not be feature in the game bag, we made our way to one of the bogs. These have always shown the odd snipe, but for the last couple of seasons we've had to share them with these guys... However it seems to have to done the ground the world of good. The shallow pools are now brimming with cattle ****, and snipe numbers are booming. Every 40 yards or so they were lifting, in numbers between 1 and 4. After many misses from us both (I won't tell you the cartridge count), Kev finally put one in the bag! A sudden sense of optimism came over us, so we took on the steepest turnip field in North Wales next well it won! The lack of guns (or rather dogs) was the downfall, as we just couldn't cover the ground properly. At least the views were nice And then just when we thought we were well and truly beaten, Rolo flushed a nice hen pheasant as we walked through the final area of rushes - It presented an easy shot, and I promptly folded it. Here's hoping for some cold weather soon!
  5. Another good report SABS, well done to Amy and Indy
  6. Ok mate. There's no rush, I'm out for the day too. The quality is reasonable. Nowhere near as good as the higher end cameras but for the price, you can't fault it IMO.
  7. Maginon AC-500 action cam (720p). Used as a starter cam to decide if headcams were for me - I've since upgraded. Come with waterproof casing, mounts and a 4GB micro SD card. It is boxed and has the receipt, with 2 1/2yrs warranty left. £27 posted.
  8. 2 men's suits, 36' short jacket and 30' short trousers. One from M+S (cost £99) and one from Limehaus (cost £149). £30 each posted - If you're interested PM and I'll send photos.
  9. No, that's still shabby as ever! I don't think you went to this piece. It's right at the bottom of the valley at CM, behind the phone mast. We wouldn't usually bother with it, but that's where the turnips are this year.
  10. It's that time of year again! Here's a few snaps from today's walk round the boundaries. The bag was a small one, with only 3 pheasants and a hare finding their way into it. A couple more birds flushed without being shot at, and the odd snipe proved to be too difficult on this occasion. Ah well, they're there for next time Here's wishing you all a successful and enjoyable season! And a warm welcome to our 2 new members from PW - 2sledge and Karl_h
  11. Perhaps it slides when the tide is going out. But it certainly flows when there's a 34ft spring coming in
  12. Many thanks for the kind comments. Duly noted about the music, I will leave it out of the next one, or put a 'Little Mix Medley' on for SABS Re: the retrieve, it was probably a fair way off from my hide, but once I was on it's line it was no more than 100yards back. I feel I must correct you all about the dog - he is a PITA usually he won't sit still, his tail can almost always be seen wagging out the bottom of the hide, and he has a terrible singing/whining voice! BUT, we don't lose birds, and for me that is the main thing Mudpattern - I've never give any thought to belly up birds. It's just something I've always done rather than put them straight in a bag to sweat. I see your point however. Magman - I'm afraid my guest passes are promised to some other PW members already this season. Maybe I could sort one for you / SABS next year?
  13. Just try to catch her on a good day, I told her I liked her corgis and we hit it off Jokes aside, many wildfowling clubs (including mine) lease the foreshore off the Crown.
  14. It was blind, though he had watched my mates dog try twice before we got up for a go. She swam over the gutter twice but would not climb the banking on the other side. I don't know what was up with her yesterday but Rolo had to pick another for them aswell in similar circumstances.
  15. Thank you! I will re-edit it when I can. Hopefully I can improve the upload quality too, as it looks rubbish on YouTube, but it's really clear on the laptop
  16. I've not posted many photos for a while, so here are a few snaps from recent outings. Whilst we've not had any 'fowling' weather yet, we've been treated to some astonishing sunrises/sets. The pink was my first off the Solway I've just bought an action cam too. Here's a few clips from a recent tide flight... http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/topic/322466-first-vid-wildfowling/?do=findComment&comment=2920194
  17. Evening folks. Here's a few clips from one of my recent outings. I left the camera in the bag for the morning flight, but I switched it on once the tide started to push. It's the first video I've produced, so I'd appriciate any pointers. Apologies if you don't like the music - I had to use the wife's laptop to edit, so it was either that or 'Little Mix' Thanks for watching
  18. Evening folks. I'm hoping the 'action cam' users amounts us can offer me some help or advice. I've just bought an SJ4000 (wifi) camera and took it out on the marsh this morning for some testing. I shot surprisingly well and when I watched the footage on the rear screen, it looks ace! BUT... When I tried to upload it to the laptop I started to get issues. I should add at this point that I'm not what you'd call a 'tech head', rather abit of a dinosaur when it comes to computers. My last action cam (cheap Aldi cam) shot video in .wmv format, which could be simply copied onto the desktop, and 'drag and dropped' into movie maker. It was very easy to edit. This new camera shoots in .mov format, so I had to download QuickTime just to view it on the laptop, but all the footage is jumpy! I read that this is because the file is compressed on the SD card and would need to be reformatted, so I downloaded another programme that does this FOC, but it took AGES to do just 1 video, the file is huge, and the quality is still carp! Is there an easy way for a computer idiot like me to edit .mov footage? Is there another editing programme that will just let me copy files from the SD card without having to 'format' files first? I just want to drag/drop a file, trim the bits of nothing out, add some music over the top, and publish. Why is this so hard?? :( Many thanks in advance for your help.
