    SWAP!

Hi, anyone fancy swapping some teal decoys for some of my mallard decoys? They're good quality deeks with the UV paint. Thinking of a straight swap (providing the teal are in as good condition), as many or as few as people want. PM if interested. Thanks!
  2. HP steel often has a faster velocity and i think it may even be harder than standard steel. Super steel will be fine if your using size 4 and choke no tighter than 1/2. HP steel is a couple of quid more expensive per box than standard steel.
  3. I'm not 100% on this but I think provided barrels are nitro proofed you can shoot standard steel carts through with 1/2 choke or looser, But you CAN'T shoot high performance steel. If using HP steel barrels need to be marked with the fleur de lys symbol or have 'STEEL SHOT' stamped on them. I think they need o be proofed to about 1330kg for HP steel.
  4. Hi Ross, 1/2 is the tightest choke acceptable when using steel shot. You'll get a more scientific answer from some of the guys on here but basically steel is harder than lead and so doesn't 'squish' as much as lead does when it's fired through a tight choke. Using a choke tighter than 1/2 can do some serious damage to your barrels, and potentially you if your barrels explode!! You're right about magnum proof meaning acceptable for 3' cartridge, the way to check is to read the writing stamped on the barrels. If it's a magnum it will say 76mm somewhere... I'm pritty sure that's right anyway!
  5. Hi, is the jacket waterproof? And what's the chest size? Thanks
  6. Pigeon deeks have now sold.
  7. Some used decoys for sale, please pm me if you're interested, good condition. •3x pigeon half shells and ground stakes. £10 - SOLD •4x mallard decoys, 2 drakes 2 hens with rigging and line weights already attached. UV paint. £20 Would prefer collection from Warrington but could arrange postage.
  8. Hello, I'm after a 1/4 choke (IIII) for my Lincoln No.2 Interchoke 12G. If anybody has a spare or know where I can find one please let me know. Thanks
  9. Ignore that it's obviously RC who make them!! I hadn't heard of them
  10. Ive not, I was thinking of getting some 'eley high flyers' or 'eley pigeon', are they any good? Who make the RC carts?
  11. I have a Lincoln No2 and don't have a bad word to say about it! Great looking gun with nice engraving on side plates. Very cheap too! Get yourself to Mcovoys, and have a look what he's got In, I think he's got a couple of lanbers at the minute around the £400 mark.
  12. Hello, Im after some new carts to use on pigeon and pheasant next season. I usually shoot 'gamebore super game high bird' 32g 6s but they're 65mm and my autos prefer longer carts. Can anyone reccomend a good, cheap cartridge (32g, 6s) that I can use on both pheasant and pigeon, rather than 2 separate types? Thanks
  13. I'm going the range on Saturday, I'll be sure to work on skeet. I have the bad habit of shooting my most comfortable clays (high/low towers) everytime I go rather than working on problems!
  14. I've not tried anything yet, I'm willing to try everything!! In my defence I was shooting a new gun, but surely I shouldn't be that bad!
  15. Went out pigeon shooting with a friend tonight. We bagged 14birds in a 2 hour stint. Thing is, he shot 12 of them and I only managed 2 (missing 14 fairly easy shots). I've never been a brilliant shot but I'm usually far better than that. Can anyone recommend some good tuition DVDs? Thanks
  16. Does anybody know where I can buy chokes for a Lincoln No. 2? In after a 1/4 choke.
  17. I know what you mean, that's one of the reasons iv changed over to FUDs. It's a 3 mile walk over the marsh to the gutter where I shoot. I think 6 wigeon FUDs, 6 mallard FUDs and few plastic deeks will do me fine.
  18. Thanks Magus, great advice. I think I'll try flighting them (without the gun) before the season starts. How many regular deeks and FUDs do you use in your pattern?
  19. @ Highlander... I don't understand what you're getting at?? I know the FUDs will still float fine if I take the weights off because the keel is attached. I wanted to know what affect the anchor weights have on the deeks?
  20. Thanks, I've got a dozen regular deeks aswell so ill keep them for evening flights. I presume you've used FUDs before then? Is it even worth trying them for morning/evening flights?
  21. I've just picked up a dozen fold up decoys (mallard + widgeon) to take onto the marsh this season. I had great success with the Canada FUDs last season but never threw them into the river, only use them on the land. I'm not the best at rigging the deeks and wondered weather the FUDs can be thrown out without the anchor weights being attached? ie, rather than take the time to rig them properly, will they float ok if I don't bother using the weights?
  22. By the way, I think there proofed to 1470KGI so should be ok to use steel! Not 100% sure about high performance steel but normal will be fine
  23. Hi, I picked up a Lincoln No2 last week! Got an absolute steal! It was even better when I got the gun home and realised it was a 3' magnum!! (it was advertised as a 2 3/4') 1 notch is full choke, 2 is 3/4, 3 is half, 4 is 1/4 and blank is cylinder (I think). I'm after a 1/4 choke for mine as it's the only choke I'm missing. If you are aware of a place which sells the chokes please let me know.
  24. Had a look on tidepool but couldn't find the offer! Found a good deal on bushwear though and picked some widgeon FUDs up! Thanks for the advice!
  25. Thanks, I've got some Canada geese FUDs and I'm pritty impressed with them. So I will probably buy some wigeon FUDs to put out with the mallard. I thought widgeon deeks would be my best bet as I wasn't sure widgeon/mallard would come into teal deeks?
