  1. The only reference to a damaged bore caused by steel is on the TGS youtube video where he shot magnum loads through his SxS.
  2. The only way you will hurt Chris Packham is by not reading what he writes and by not watching his onscreen drivel.
  3. Rupert, Thank You. May I ask were your ancestors blinkered dray horses? It is 'enthusiasts' like you that hold countrysports back all the time. Lighten up it is time for change , and change will never happen if you hide your light . The way forward for us all is education , entertainment , and enjoyment. Tightchoke, Would you have ever walked into a Pub, seen a Snooker table or a Dart board and said " I can make millions from promoting this ." ?
  4. Scully , Always up for a challenge , but no one man can do it. It needs funding . Last year I wrote to a number of people highlighting what Barry Hearn has done for Snooker, Boxing and Darts . Darts especially is a grass roots participation sport. Golf cameras can follow the flight of golf balls so why cannot we do it with clays? A very well thought out event such as The World Sporting at EJ Churchill at West Wycombe could make excellent TV coverage.
  5. Of course Starshot was televised thanks to Jackie Stewart patronage , and The White Gold Cup with Barry Hearn at Weston Park was televised and I think that was a very successful event . I actually organised that event and ran it on behalf of Gamebore , interestingly BASC never bothered to come to any of The White Gold events and CPSA sent their events caravan to Weston Park , but no one came to the event to manage it or meet the Public or even the competitors who obviously were CPSA members. Any members on here remember the Grand Prix Mechanics Clay shoots at Glen Eagles organised by Jackie Stewart ? Hundreds of guests all with accommodation at Gleneagles, everyone attired in Barbour clothes , Pringle sweaters , Hunter wellingtons , Beretta guns as prizes , , there was a prize of a holiday in the Seychelles for the most improved shooter over the three days of the event , the prize was won by a journalist who hit none for two days and finally hit one on the third day . He & his Wife then flew off on an all expenses paid holiday . Bye the way it was all free to every participant . Thank You Sir Jackie and Lady Helen .
  6. I watched the Snooker Masters Final on Sunday and it got me remembering when Barry Hearn sponsored clay shooting . Masters winner pocketed £250,000 and the runner up £100,000 ! Wow . Barry also sponsors boxing with winners pocketing £ Millions .Did we clayshooters miss a trick? When I started we could win Rolex watches and numerous cars . now the top prize at a National will be about £1000. I believe the CPSA recently lost Red Bull sponsorship at the very last hurdle , did they then approach Monster Energy? Is there not a CPSA member or indeed a shooting person like Barry Hearn that could take Clay Pigeon Shooting forward ?
  7. I have cut a few of my cartridges that are a few months old apart and found them to be fine .
  8. Interesting , I believe this problem was brought to Eley's attention some months ago and they said it was unlikely to happen as the crimps were heat sealed . So could it be an issue with the PVA?
  9. Ozzy advice:- If you want to go into the outback , get a Defender, if you want to come out of the outback , get a Toyota.
  10. Is it me missing the point or have we gone mad and have more money than sense? Pheasant Shooting at £3500 per peg and now I have seen Pigeon Shooting at £250 a day per person plus £2-50 per shot fired maximum of 300 shots per day equals £1000 per day for Pigeon Shooting plus cartridges plus fuel to drive to the venue and back . Keep it up Boys , soon we will not need legislation to stop us shooting .
  11. Does anyone know if Beretta Italy or anyone else for that matter can supply a part for a Beretta UGBLA the semi auto that they designed specifically for Trap shooting ( lokks like an O/U. Reason for asking is a friend has broken a latch and requires parts to repair it .
  12. Taileron, I wish you had spent your money on getting your guns properly fitted also . In these Covid times , I need the work and do some work , instructing , gunsmithing , and fitting for Millride 😄.
  13. I thought that they were readily available for sale on the internet?
  14. Try Brian Webster , B K Webster Gunsmith , West Tansfield , Ripon , Yorkshire , tell him I recommended you to him , he will look after you and do a good job.
  15. It has been an issue with 725's for years . Earlier ones had a modified hammer spring , identified by a large coil midway in the length of the spring , all new guns have this as standard . Mechanism needs to be scrupulously clean with no grease or heavy oil on the working parts . American issues are often caused by lack of brain cells , but if trouble persists you can fit the trigger return spring off a .410 model which is lighter . I have repaired quite a few 725's with fail to fire issues .
  16. Conor , How many of the 40 years that BASC have been leading the fight was lead by John Swift , who actually was later found to have his own agenda? Can you in all faith say that BASC have robustly defended the continued use of Lead shot.
  17. Roj, There is a very good post on this website from 'Hamster' who explains very well that all though he is 'cross dominant ' he learned very quickly how to shoot with both eyes open . Anyone who has any issue with their shooting really should get it sorted by consulting a competent coach , it may not be as expensive as you have been led to believe. Most shooting grounds or more especially shooting clubs have probably got an association qualified coach who will gladly assist if asked.
  18. Buze , Yes you are a little out of touch , thankfully . I think the Welsh Open was their first big day after the shooting ground has been taken back into family management . Richard Jones and his good Lady Nia are trying very hard to do a good job . I believe Jonathan Williams of Mid Wales has been very helpful . The targets for the Welsh were set by Richard 'Brewster' Hughes so were very good , (he's not too bad for a novice!). I cannot recommend Dovey highly enough for a change of scenery and I am sure that targets can be set and supplied to suit every customers tastes and requirements . All this ground now requires is footfall from an appreciative customer base . If we don't use it we'll lose it .
  19. Gunman , I have to agree , possibly more likely a sideplated boxlock . daisyrob where are you? I've probably got a new firing pin in stock .
  20. Yesterday I had the pleasure of visiting Dovey Valley SG . Wow ! What a pleasurable experience . A VERY organised management team , beautifully manicured lawns and pathways , brilliant targets a truly eye opening experience . It was the WCTSA Welsh Open , run for the very first time here and run to perfection. I have not been to this ground for possibly twenty years and I do have to say it really was a pleasure to see so many smiling faces actually enjoying clayshooting, even those having an 'off day' got over it and ended up smiling . The ground has over 60 stands so there should be something to suit people of every ability . For the struggling Game shot wishing to brush up on their skills either before or after a day at 'The Brigands' Dovey Valley is only about 6 miles down the road from The Brigands Inn towards Machynlleth, Powys, postcode SY20 8QJ . Plenty of hotels , B&B at sensible prices to lure the traveller to make a weekend of it .
  21. Catamong , Very good post and I agree with your observation . A friend minced a dificult bir on Friday with FBlacks , then tried , Superbs , Sovereigns and ViPs , never touched them and doesn't know why ? Maybe it can only be compatability choke and cartridge ?
  22. An interesting topic (to some). Lots of devices on the market to assist and the SP device seems to have lots of favour . But if you believe the Shooting Press they will push Nick Penn who advocates always shooting with both eyes open . Why I will never know because he has certainly screwed a few people up in his time , who have then had to revert to winking or blanking the 'off' eye . Find a good instructor and get your eye issues correctly diagnosed , it will be the best money spent . NO ! Not everyone can shoot with both eyes open .
  23. Terry , You obviously struggle with logic ? 1. In the link that I watched Christopher was struggling with communication and a young lady was doing the repair , this should have been sorted before going on air . 2. The Media Centre should be used for media communication , it should have all the necessary equipment to present a professional broadcast .That is how I perceive a Media Centre to be utilised. 3. Is it really ? Why do they frequently use the Westminster suite ? Why have spokespersons travelled to Media City Salford ? I think you will find that the media centre is often used as a storeroom . holloway , Really ? Are you sure ? Conor is on here often enough , obviously my questions don't require an answer from anyone . Just pay my membership and watch members money being wasted.
