  1. 2 of my mates still ride them. Great bikes in their day (and much improved by the addition of a Power Commander and a good dyno operator incidentally), but not a match for 2005 on bikes.
  2. I'm not sure the tone of Kes' questioning helped win John votes, but Johns responses did. A balanced but forward looking attitude can only move us forward. Another vote here that went to John and it's good to see that he has been elected to council.
  3. I've ridden all sorts from revvy little 600 supersports, to full fat, litre hypersports and GS's (brilliant for what they're designed for) Tigers, Sprints, VFR's etc etc, had a Mille, now that was a great bit of kit, but, like my SP2, slow in comparison to modern machinery. Since a big off I've slowed down on the road...and spend my 'nutter time' on track. I've now settled on, and am really happy with a Blackbird. Uber quick when you want it, effortless to ride all day long, tours well, scratches well enough to keep up with all but the most committed and s-o-o-o easy, I spend much of my time in fourth as that covers al bases between about 30 mph and ton plus! 58k miles now and still purring and so far utterly reliable. When I replace her, it will be with a newer Blackbird.
  4. Why do I need this? I'm not asking to be difficult, sarcastic or negative. I currently use a large plastic storage bin with a snap on lid, it lives on top of the tumble dryer and fits under shelves so it fits its space well and isn't in the way. It cost me a fiver. What benefits does the Costco one bring that would tempt me? I do like a useful gadget but I don't like spending money when its of no tangible benefit. Convert me.
  5. That's really bad luck. I only had one cancelled in the last year or so, so that will be at least 8 trips.
  6. 1102 posts, about 10 of them in this thread alone have they all been as peurile?
  7. Yeah, because that'll run the drencher head they want won't it.
  8. This particular one was a Yokozuna Lee Minnow, but there are plenty of variants. You basicaly hook the lure but then the point is just nicked back into the lure, the hooks the most important bit to make this work. With the point masked you don't snag anything, but the force of a hit pops it free! As you can see, it works. Henry Gilbey was using similar for Pollock in the last Sea Angler mag.
  9. Strong winds kayboshed yesterdays trip at the eleventh hour, so, with the day booked off we decided to hit the shingle and hunt some bream! Reasonable day fishing wise although the bream were less willing than I'd hoped however a bonus was had while trying out one of the new weedless, soft lure set ups. Never used one before but they are brilliant! You can pull them through weed, over snags and pretty much anywhere else you fancy. Using a sink and draw (well wind) technique, I worked the lure over some weedy submerged rocks, paused to let it drop to the bed, and then wound back into it. As the lure livened up BANG! Fish on! A few frantic minutes later in a strong tide with snags around and it was on the beach. 3lb (and a tiny bit) of dark Bass (all that kelp its been hiding in!) which made its way into the cool box and then onto my plate tonight, and it was LOVELY!
  10. Lose the current bath mixer, replace the tap with a thermostatic bath shower mixer. Good shower mixer with no re-tiling etc! http://www.heatandplumb.com/acatalog/Grohe-34156000.html?utm_source=ProductSearch&utm_medium=GoogleBase&gclid=CIm2wrOc0LcCFY3HtAodwxEARA
  11. As Tim has said, this is the best solution. However, it is likely to be cheaper to pump the hot only and if necessary fit a flow restrictor to the cold to even up the flow rates. A large bore hose and head will only help and will allow you to get the best out of a pump. A more expensive pump will be more reliable and generally quieter. I'd advise you to spend £300+ on a pump. Overall on parts you'd maybe spend another £100-150 depending on how much you replace, you may need to factor in getting the pump a power supply if you aren't able or don't have one local.
  12. Seems to be a mileage rather than age thing, 80k miles seems to be the point when they are likely to go. Don't get me wrong, I had one that didn't go...but I also had one that did.
  13. Lucky blighters, I don't think the Bass down here could see a bait at 3 feet at the moment, it's pea soup.
  14. No idea on the east coast but down here in E Sussex we're still struggling with the remnants of May Bloom. Fishing's been rubbish!!!
  15. LOL! Ok, so, I said a cracked Paj head is a scrap head. Your solution is to buy a new head. So what exactly are you proposing we do with the old knackered head if you're not sure why they are now scrap?
  16. Ooh, been there to! 'Interesting' weekend involving lots of noise, beer, drugs for those who wanted them (not me I hasten to add), motorbike engines in wheelbarrows for the purposes of bouncing off the rev limiter all night long...or until it went bang in which case you just fire up another!, fireworks/thunderflashes, and some very passionate Dutch bikers. Great to watch racing but never again!!! I was so tired on the ride back I almost killed myself...twice!
  17. Nope, been to Le Mans and Sachsenring, fantatic both. Wherever you go...can I come?
  18. This is all well and good but, and it's a big but, the latterly mentioned head gasket issue is a common problem, really common and it's difficult to check for until you've bought the ******! Worse still, it quite often leads to cracked heads before it's picked up, and a cracked Pajero head is scrap! I've had two Pajeros, both of which suffered with head gasket problems and the other constantly recurring theme of the issue of diesel pump seals. Personally, I'd not buy another Mitsi unless it was on an 06 plate or later, the 4D56 engine/ancillaries have too many known major issues.
  19. I'm out on a specimen hunt next wednesday, hopefully with similar luck, they've been taking some nice fish recently but as you say, everythings currently 4-6 weeks late in. Our bream seem to prefer ribbons of cuttlefish, hopefully we'll have another August bonanza on them this year as I'm down to my last one!!!
  20. If you are so thick as to think that calling people names is an acceptable method of debate, we're both in trouble. So, for those in the cheap seat. It's not quantitative. Dirty Harry could walk up to you and me and decide that I was ****** as a newt and you'd maybe had a drink but weren't drunk, not knowing that we'd both been in the same pub and drunk ten pints each. All that proves is that on this occasion you held your drink better. Doesn't make you any more or less responsible does it? If you were driving, there is a clearly defined series of procedures and limits to ascertain whether you should be driving with that amount of alcohol in your blood. Doesn't exist elsewhere, and I'm not convinced that a Police officers opinion on this would stand up in court as proof. ' I believed him to be drunk your honour...In my opinion he was drunk your Honour', yes officer, but can you prove he was drunk? As such, an attempted revocation on these grounds has got to be open to challenge. As I said, 'I'm not advocating being drunk in charge of a shotgun...? How would you then go on to provide proof of his drunken state?'
  21. Is it illegal to be drunk then? How would it work if there was a drunk (in the officers opinion) SGC holder in a car as a passenger with a secured shotgun in a slip, covered in the rear of the car. I'm not advocating being drunk in charge of a shotgun, but I can't really see where the offence lies? How would you then go on to provide proof of his drunken state?
  22. Blimey, I may be undersized on the hook front then, a 4/0 is the biggest hook in my box and that's a single.
  23. You might want to PM him before this gets deleted mate, which it will as it not complying with the rules.
  24. Might be worth splitting them mate. I do a lot of lure fishing but cannot imagine ever needing 250 trebles! 5/0's are big ******* too, what are they intended for?
  25. Short wheelbase in the ad mate, so 88".
