Dovi would be the obvious choice, but don't know what his Yam contract is.

Am I a gun snob? Definitely not. I have cheap guns I don't shoot very well, but they are what I can afford at the moment and that's that. Do I have gun envy? Oh yes! I'd love to have an expensive gun. It probably wouldn't improve my averages, practice is what's needed there, but I'd know it's a nice gun and I'd know others know it's a nice gun and that would be pleasureable for me in much the same way as owning a nice car is.

Ok, I'll wait and see what you post, thanks.

What sort of property are you looking for? I have an apartment in Murcia, 12k away from Cartagena, on the coast and in a bay of six 'fishing' villages. No night clubs or English tourists in any numbers, adequate numbers of Spanish bars and restaurants and some cracking walks if that's what you want. 5 minutes from the beach but you will need to hire a car. Further info look here...Apartment Acuario It's a work in progress the FB page but will give you an idea. PM for further details/photos.

That'll be the problem then! There are those who think the 'choc labs are all thick' mindset are wrong. I'm going to reserve judgement but, I CAN tell you that my choc lab which was trained as a pet, is now learning to be a gundog, and is coming on in leaps and bounds. Two formal sessions and she is good (not perfect yet) on the whistle, taking direction to either side, and going back for a dummy she knows is there. She is returning dummies to hand and that's after 4 years of dropping tennis balls at my feet, walks to heel off lead (always has TBH) and will stop/sit on the whistle. I'm more than happy with that after 4 weeks training. She does live to retrieve though which makes life easier and she was already fairly well trained. She knew what 'Here' means along with sit, stay, heel etc so the basics were there. She is foremost a pet dog, and always will be, nothings changed in that other than what we now let her retrieve and how. All we are doing is adding another layer to her training and skills. You need to remember that most gundogs are in reality, gundogs for two or three months of the year and pets for the rest anyway...some more so than others!

Just sent Pirate FM an email asking when they intend to present the alternative side of the story in the name of editorial balance. I added a few positive facts and suggested they contact the BASC or CA for further detail. Will be interesting to see if they even bother to respond.

Is this not the definition of narrow minded?

Sorry Gnome I thought it was going to be a training book and it isn't as such, not for me. For info: Labradors are one of the most popular breeds in the UK both as a working dog and as a family pet. In this book leading animal photographer Nick Ridley captures the beauty and charm of the breed in all its guises. Labradors come in three coat colours: black, chocolate and yellow and uniquely Nick Ridley features the first black and tan Labrador to be verified by the Kennel Club. Includes wonderful images of Labradors in the field, as puppies, as family pets and in other working role. The Author: - Nick Ridley is the UK's leading dog photographer. Nick has been involved in photography for over 25 years and his experience coupled with a lifetime of being around working dogs gives him an undeniable edge when photographing our canine companions. His photographs are used throughout the world in books and magazines. Nick has written two photography books and is the Gundog Editor of Sporting Shooter.

Christ on a bike, what an idiot! Didn't realise quite how big an idiot until I read his web and FB pages, but am now of the opinion that he has lost the plot somewhat.

The British boats are fantastic, I have one with a 115 on the back. It is fast, stable and very seaworthy. I've been out in a 3-4 that blew up quickly while we were about 8 miles offshore, basically the tide turned and the wind strengthened, the combination of wind over tide suddenly turned a rolling swell distinctly snotty, we motored back in at about half power with no real dramas in some fairly nasty seas. We were informed by harbour control that they were considering sending a chopper to look for us as it was a 6 pushing 7 by the time we got back in. Boat handled it easily.

Likewise. If they get past the dogs, I'll have had time to take further preventative steps.

It's not the content of your posts Polestar, it's the way they are delivered. Be it foreign shooters or the BASC, you always seem to have an axe to grind, and you come across as a little obsessive. I do wonder if there is so little going on up there that you have next to nothing else to concern yourself with. Just the way I see it, if that makes me a bad guy, so be it. Don't get me wrong, shot falling on people or property is a bad thing, no question, but I also agree that the Orkneys probably also need the foreign tourism and that maybe gets lost when it suits.

Nice! And yet fascinatingly informative at the same time!

I think there's enough people on here stating that they can accurately shoot well beyond that to show that statement to be a complete load of ********! Just because you can't do it, doesn't mean others can't!

Pole Star, you really do your cause no good with your rantings. I'm sure a good percentage of the PW collective have you got you down as a bit of a loon by now!
-
I'm assuming you bought the one with the plastic conical drum with immersion heater element fitted. If so did you buy any failsafe for the heater? There have been a few that have leaked and caused the element to be exposed, this then heated to the point of melting the drum or in one documented case, the whole lot caught fire!

There speaks an almost sole voice of reason. You may feel that he shouldn't compete, but he was banned by the BOA, that ban has been overturned. He can now compete and, if he runs fast enough to qualify, there is no legal impediment to him doing so. Any other complaint is moral and that has no place in rule making/enforcement.

Yet another good reason to buy a Mundaneo then, along with that the Octavia is one u-u-u-u-u-u-u-gly car as well as 15%-ish more expensive than a comparable Mondeo! Cheers for the heads up, really should have looked at that earlier TBH.

Quite a few older diesels run perfectly well on dried and filtered plain, waste veg oil. My Pajero actually runs better on WVO than diesel! You can't run modern diesels on it though, so you need to process it into biodiesel, I am looking for a Mondeo/Octavia diesel atm hence why I'm going to fire up the processor again. I currently have about 500 litres of WVO outside which cost me 19p a litre. By the time it's turned into Bio it will be around 40p a litre but you can run pretty much any car on it. You can legally produce up to 2499 litre s a year duty free...at current prices you'd save £2698.00 on fuel. Oh, and did I mention, the person keeping tabs on how much you produce..is you! :yp:

I did and will be again. First tip is to make sure the oil is PROPERLY dried, you need to heat the oil to ideally over 100 degrees C while agitating it to drive off all the water, failure to do so will mean you will make a LOT more soap and can easily suffer from an emulsion forming, which, while not the end of the world, is a proper pain in the *****! Secondly get/make a processor that has a high volume pump, this wil help ensure mixing and therefore a better reaction. Third, at least until you get the hang of it, do a two stage reaction, it's easier to get a complete reaction and you're less likely to have problems. Finally, do a lot of reading up on it, and join www.vegetableoildiesel.co.uk , it's a mine of information but like here they don't suffer fools, do your homework and use the search facility before asking the stupid questions!

It can. I've used bike NCD for my Pajero policy, it depends on the insurer, some will, some won't.
