  1. At the age of 16 I started an apprenticeship with a firm of toolmakers. The factory was quiet small and had a friendly atmosphere about it. The offices were at the front of the building and there was one girl that worked in the office that was a stunner, but a real tease. All the apprentices fancied her, she would walk round the factory in a low cut top, winding up anyone that would take any notice. One of the lads asked her out and she accepted. The rest of us were green with envy. That night they went to the local disco, and she done the same to him there, off flirting with every Tom **** or Harry every chance she got. In the end he left and left her there. When she came into work the next morning she was livid and proceeded to flirt with anyone and everyone. She went from man to man flirting in font of the chap that had left her in the disco the previous evening. When she came to me she seemed to pick me out for some "special treatment" maybe because I was the ugliest and youngest there. She made a show of running her fingers through my hair, ( I did have some at that age) she even jokingly grabbed at my groin. Eventually she went back in the office to do some work. Unfortunately I could not get her fondling me out of my mind, and my young imagination was working overtime. About half an hour later I had to go to the toilet and while I was sitting there, what had happened started going through my mind, with the obvious consequences. So I though well perhaps a quick hand shandy would help. Well, why not there’s no one in the toilets and I will be pretty quick. So as soon as I had finished I heard a round of applause and looked up to see all the apprentices stood around the cubicle clapping. TC

    Rugby

Wales for the Triple Crown and the Championship to Ireland. To beat any team in this poor 6 nations by more than 13 points is a feat that IMHO is beyond Wales at the moment. England played well last weekend, simply because they kept the whole team on the field for 80 minutes. The only reason for that was, they were never put under pressure and did not have to spoil and kill the ball, the French forgot to turn up. TC

    jade goody

Seventeen women every day die of cervical cancer in this country. Yet because of her celeb status and age people are taking notice of Jade Goody. I hope a lot more people do because she has raised the profile cervical cancers. Public awareness is higher now than it has ever been. My mother died of cervical cancer at the age of 42 but she was just one of the seventeen. I am not bitter towards Jade because she is making money from her torment, in fact I applaud her for being honest and open in the most difficult of circumstances. If asked, I am willing to bet that she would give all the money back not to have the disease, unfortunately that is not going to happen. The spin offs from the media coverage is that more women are getting the correct information. So that they can make informed decisions that may well save their lives. I am not one for name calling, but I honestly think that some of the persons that have contributed to this thread need to look at themselves and their motives for putting into print some of the posts that I have read on this thread. Some of the posts have made me feel sick, that a human being can actually think like that about a young woman who is dying of cancer. To the people who have posted those posts, (you know who you are) you disgust me. TC
  4. Do a google for making biltong.

    jade goody

Apologies if this has been said before as I have not read all the thread. When you first look at this media circus surrounding her, it is hard to see what, if any, good can come out of it? The one good thing that has come out of the media coverage of her illness. Is that it has raised the profile of cervical cancers. Since the announcement of her cancer the amount of young women going for screening has increased dramatically. Unfortunately for her it has come at a price, but I wonder how many young women’s lives will be saved because of this publicity? TC
  6. You my friend know nothing about dogs. I have never read so much twaddle. Every dog has the potential to bite, it is their only form of defence. Some dogs can inflict more damage than others, true, but a child does not need to be savaged by a pit bull to sustain irreparable damage. A Yorkie can inflict enough damage to harm that child for life. Grow up. TC
  7. After nearly half a centuary of keeping dogs of various types mostly lurchers and terriers. I have never had a dog that has bitten anyone. I would never leave a child alone with a dog. All dogs are a risk to a child if left unattended. You my friend are talking through your buttocks. TC
  8. I have just read this thread; to be honest I find it incredulous that someone with no experience of bow hunting can condemn the sport on the evidence of a few You Tube videos. Obviously the You Tube videos are how every bow hunt is conducted! Well it's on the Internet, so it must be how all hunts are conducted. TC

  10. Henryd, the most over rated never was, that has ever been. Should not even be in the squad. TC
  11. This is one from year before last. I always try to blend the hide to the background as much as possible. A sparrow hawk landed on the edge of the hide that day. Don't know who had the biggest shock me or her. TC
  12. If I had taken that photo I would be as proud as punch. I cannot see why every photo has to be HD or it's no good. Peronally I think photos should reflect what you see with your own eyes. (I would say that knowing zero about photography.) Some of the photos printed look so unreal they are just too sharp. They look as if they are computer generated. Good work GG
  13. While it may seem an excessive bag, if the Hares were not there they could not be shot. The largest amount of Hares I have seen was in Cambridgeshire on the Six mile bottom shoot. Without looking for them we must have risen over 50 in one day. It might be an idea though if they stopped the Hare shoots at the end of the season and caught up the excess Hares for relocation to areas that have a shortage of them. I am sure there would be no shortage of volunteers for the exercise. I would be interested in the legal point of view on this as Hares are game, and as such can be released. TC
  14. Believe me darren you will know. I hate to say this but the time is usually when we come to terms with the inevatable. Does not make it any the easier though, it is still heart wrenching. TC
  15. Ferreting is illegal in the US and Canada. TC
  16. Funnily enough, I have taken four dogs for their owners and all have been pets. One was for the nextdoor neigbour who's vet was just fleecing them. The dog was 14 blind, incontinent and virtually unable to walk. He had been like that for near on a year and the vet just kept on giving them hope that the dog would recover. It took a lot of persueding to get them to face facts. If left to them I doubt if the dog would have been PTS and the vet would have taken a lot more money off of them. I do not blame them as such, as in reality they knew no better. TC
  17. Traztaz, I do not know what they use for an injection in Germany; here in the uk an overdose of anaesthetic is used. The effect is that the dog immediately becomes unconscious, and then the anaesthetic gives the dog a heart attack when it is unconscious. Depending on the size of the dog and the dose given the dog is usually clinically dead within 2 minutes. TC
  18. We have nearly all had to do it, put an ill dog or an ancient dog to sleep. Not a very pleasant task but one that has to be done. Personally I could not ask another person to take my dog to the vets for me. I have been asked, and done so in the past, to take other peoples dogs to the vet for that last trip. I think, although the injection is painless, the lead up to the injection is not without stress to the dog. The examination the shaving of the leg all causes stress to the dog. Who better to alleviate that stress than its owner its partner in crime for the whole of the dog’s life? I have found that when taking my own dogs they remain calm and relatively stress free. They simply go to sleep in my arms like they have at my feet thousands of time before. This I find helps me combat that feeling that I am "playing God" with the dog. How many people I wonder, think the same as myself, and how many cannot take that last visit? The people, who I have taken the dogs for, just could not bring themselves to do it. I am not knocking them I just cannot understand why they would not want the most peaceful end for their dogs. My question is, do you take the last visit with your dogs and if not why not? TC
  19. Chin up mate, it's a hard decision to make, but as you and I know it's the right one. TC

    6 Nations!

Lets hope despite Johnsons negative team choice, that we can see another good game of rugby tomorrow. A game like the Irish and French had last week would go down a treat tomorrow. PS Don't be too sure of the outcome if the English play a spoiling game. TC
  22. To use the analogy of Gun for Dog has to be one of the most stupid things I have ever heard. Does the gun decide to go and shoot someone on it's own? My thoughts are. Any dog and I mean any dog can injure or kill a child. Some are physically able to inflict more damage than others. The problem is the owners, and I do not mean just Chav type people. Myzeneye you are just as much at risk of your dog turning, as the chav type person. The main problem is, the dogs are not treated like dogs. People treat them like children. They are not children they are Wolves they think like wolves. They expect physical rebukes when they get above their station, (I do not mean a beating by that, it can just be a touch but administered in a way the dog understands) if they do not get that rebuke they will think that they are higher in their pack position than they are. That is an "accident" waiting to happen. This is a true case study. A woman buys a Doberman pup, (the breed is incidental) the pup is socialised correctly, it was taken to puppy training classes and turned out an obedient pup. So far, all well and good. The pup had the habit of creeping up to bed with them after the owners had gone to sleep. The wife liked this because the pup used to snuggle up to her and nuzzle into her neck. The wife thought that the puppy was substituting her for it's natural mother and she liked the idea. Now comes the distressing part. At the age of 12 months the Doberman one night instead of nuzzling into her neck, as he had done from the time he was a pup, savaged her. Who could see that coming? Anyone with an inclination about dogs should have. The reason the dog savaged her was the dog thought she was his bitch. From the time the dog was 9 months old if he had got upstairs before the husband, by that time he had made sure that he was. He would stand on the top of the stairs growling at the husband. The wife thought this was great she had her dog that was protecting her, or so she thought. Then one night the husband refused to pass the dog, and went to sleep on the sofa. That night the dog tried to mount the wife as in his mind she was his bitch now. The wife fought off his advances and the dog was not having any of this and taught her a lesson. Edited to add: Loves and cuddles do not make a stable dog of any breed. Disipline and order that a dog understands does. TC
