But will only do 19 mpg.

This could be a factor for many people.

Yes! The 4.5 petrol even worse, I've seen as low as 13mpg on mine! This is why so many were LPG converted.

  2. If you can find an 80 series landcruiser that doesn't have terrible rust then that would be my choice. No longer as cheap as they were unfortunately. Alternatively a prado (sold here as the Landcruiser) with the d4d engine. The 80 series is built to a different standard than a land rover and like the defender has a solid front axle and can be had with three differential locks, very capable offroad.

    Don't they.

The top one reminds me of my dad's Hellis cross eyed stocked gun.

It's not a cross over stock. It will be in the next Southams auction. Its an amazing time to buy Birmingham boxlocks especially as they have never been cheaper relatively (I think!).

  4. I've recently bought a new boxlock,  Churchill Utility XXV 1934 patent assisted opener. It has a long stock and good wall thickness. It's 2.5" and I'll keep my cartridges to 1oz.

So my cased Webley 700 (26" with Churchill Rib) is going into auction. I bought it probably 13/14 years ago from an advert on here and it's served me well.  Sad to see it go but I wouldn't use it over the Churchill. I enjoy carrying and shooting these short barreled guns, they make instinctive shooting easier and I find pushing my left hand further down the barrels keeps them from moving too fast.

Well I won the Remington M17! Was a bit expensive but bought at the low end of guide price thankfully! Best news is my daughter has said she will pay for it for my birthday pressie as she has no idea what to get me! I love my kids! I'll post again when I pick it up and have had a chance to go over it, nevertheless, one ticked off the list!

That's great news! We should meet up and give it a run!

Seen! I was going to call and ask whether the takedown joint was pinned as part of conversion to Sect 2. Unfortunately more of these lovely guns are being spoiled (in my view) in doing this.

The takedown function has indeed been pinned.

  8. As above. Once the gun is moved from your SGC go FAC then you can do the de-restriction work yourself. The need for the tube to be glued so it doesn't constitute a detachable magazine, no longer applies.

It's going the other way that requires Proof House confirmation, but again, no need for an RFD to be involved.

Hello, not sure where your located but there is the Melbourne Air rifles etc Fayre this Sunday, DE73 8GJ

Sadly I am overseas that day. Thanks

  11. I think it looks fantastic and should take sales from LR. They have taken a que from the FJ Cruiser, new defender and Bronco which all have retro looks.

If its the same 2.8 as in the Hilux and current UK prado landcruiser then that will be a bit agricultural compared to what LR offer.

I'm a big fan of Toyota. It will likely be more reliable than the new Defender and cheaper than the Ineos Grenadier.

I have had to thin out my collection so a few of my S2 pump action guns are going in to the upcoming Southams sale.

There is in fact a decent selection of pumps and semiautomatic and unusually slightly less over and under and SxS

There were a couple of very nice Winchester Model 12s for sale in the Southams sale. Sadly I had to keep myself away this time, otherwise I would have got carried away!

Sa80 bayonet and sheath, they clipped together to form wire cutters if I remember correctly

😆 handy if you're carrying one!

Any leatherman will do the job, but the SOG power tool gives mechanical advantage which makes it easier.
