Something i forgot on my initial response and i remebered yesterday. The antidote to most second generation anticoagulant rodenticide poison is vitamin k. Corn and hen food is corn rich is high in vit k so even if you get the rats to eat the poison they will also be eating an antidote. The suggestions regards poison should be ignored. Springers are simple, I like simple things, less to break/go wrong Only ever had springers, have used pcp's owned by family and friends. But I think its too complcated with charging bottles and such. I do pest control now and am looking for a new air rifle for those occasional pigeon shoots, a colleague has a pcp....... I'm looking at another springer

I am considering selling one of my shotguns to buy a new air rifle. I have a 20 year old chinese air rifle, that is throwing out 5.9 lbs pressure,(a mate chrono'd it) I recently killed a couple of pigeons in a warehouse with it...... Rats need to get used to traps before they will enter them

As a hen keeper and a pro pest controller I wouldn't use poison. Too much risk of secondary poisoning. Definetley don't use loose grain and blocks are dodgy too. Permanently set fenn traps around the perimetre and under the hen house are best, rats will get used to them and its a permanent protection.
