I have an empty Greener 12/14 bore Police Shotgun cartridge which is all brass but I think that would have started life as that cartridge becauce of the brooved base/head. Sorry for the typos that should read because of the grooved base/head Tim -
Good, I will a look. Thanks Tim

Thats really good, an interesting comment about being adapted from war time .303 cases which probably did start off straight. Tim -

Hi, thanks again for that an old canvas bank bag filled with them came with a Webley & Scott 410 bolt action that I bought in the 60's so I guessed that they might have came from that era. supprised they were earlier. I have seen a few at various auctions but never seen a box for them. -
Hi, Thank for that, Tim
-
Would anyone have knowledge whether Holts posts the selling prices of the lots on their sealed bid auction that finished today, just curious as to what lots went for. There is nothing on their site at the moment. Many thanks Tim

Hi London Best Thank you for the reseach I love looking at these old cartridges some bring back good memories. We moved homes a few years ago and a lot of my bits and pieces went into storeage which got flooded out I lost a great many cartridges through water damage not all some were above the water line The BSA shells that Matone pictured I remember buying them as a teenager. Here are a couple of 410 Eley Almac brass cases that were saved from the Webley bolt action not sure of the age but from the 60's I would guess. -

Barbour Classic Northumbria green wax Jacket size 42" worn twice and a Barbour Bedale Rustic wax jacket size 38 £90 each posted. The Northumbria is just the jacket no hood or liner ect worn twice for trips into town and is just to small for me. The Bedale is about four years old I bought it for my wife who did not like the wax smell, its sat in the wardrobe ever since, complete with labels attached, badge and Barbour care booklet and a tin of wax. Good saving over new jackets

Hi Mudpattern, Thank you for your reply I have made a mistake on the measurements the standard 8 bore is 3" the one I am interested in I put plastic stand to photograph it and it has distorted the sizes, the gastight case measures 4 1/4" I am trying to find some history to the 4 1/4" 8 bore case as I can only find reference up to a 4" case.
-
Would any of the wildfowlers on here throw some light on this 8 bore cartridge and its history, I have owned it a lot of years and often wondered why it was much longer than the standard 8 bore case, I have pictured it with a standard 4 1/4" case and a 4 bore for comparison. Thanks in advance Tim

They were made in the USA, I think Odyessy Lures folded a few years ago I bought mine from the Friendly Fisherman in Tunbridge Wells. Odyssey made 2 sizes the larger was a very big lure sporting an enormous single hook, I believe that it was a muskie lure the size of the hook put me off trying them for pike so I always stuck to the junior size.
-
Its an Odyssey sloppy pig junior, its made from a soft plastic but not the jelly type that breaks up on pike's teeth. They were popular about 15 years ago a very robust lure that I found the pike did hold on to and not reject as quickly like plastic or wood lures. Tsunami make their sandeel lures out of a similar plastic which holds together well when bass hit them.
-
Here is another surface lure I would not be without any ideas?
-
I have always been a lure fisherman and bought my early stuff from Ken Latham in Potter Heigham, later when I moved down to London Dons Of Edmonton who also stocked an array of American Lures it was Don's who sold the weed walkers. I fished the Yare a lot its a great bait to toss from the boat to the bank and bring it over the lillies it catches a lot of smaller pike but I fish for fun and enjoyment so a pike is a pike. Tim
-
Spot on give that man a cigar I am supprised it was identified, it is sort after lure due to be a useful surface weedless lure great for fishing over lily pads it is slightly weighted so it casts easier than others. Well done again. Tim
-
A bit of lock down trivia while I am trying to sort out posting pictures, Name That Lure. Overall length 4 inches body 2.5 inches. Tim Blimey I can now post pictures
