  1. HI Dan thought about you the other day, how you doing hope you and your family are well.I am still doing a bit of shooting now and then, I gues the old hunter in you is still active,

Straight shooting and a merry Christmas and a happy new year to you and your family.

  2. HI 2 bangs Just to verify whats been said ,very good boots had mine 2 years providing you clean them after every trip they will continue to be waterproof .A very good buy, better to wear boots than wellies more comfortable. Hope you get on with them.
  3. Many thanks for all your comments and they have been very revealing, I have just had a word with my farmer and he said they have had trouble with people shooting hares and all sorts without permission, So they stopped shooting altogether; However if I wanted to shoot on that land to get the tenants permission as well . Because he has the right to vermin control on that land, as was previously mensioned by APPACHE, Thank you all for your input. SAFE SHOOTING
  4. It was interesting to hear from APACHE that the tenant has rights to shoot [vermin] but not game . ? if its true. I will have to confirm with my farmer the conditions of rental. Knowing the rental farmer can be a bit volatile.
  5. Hi all A question that my shooting partner wanted to know the answer to. I have permission to shoot on the land owned by a farmer, but has rented the land to another farmer who does not want any shooter on the farm. Who has the final say as to who shoots legally on the land. I have shot on this land for many years without any problems, it is to put my partners mind at rest. Look forward to the forums wisdom. thanks
  6. Hi Dan yes its ME havnt been on the site much good to hear from u.Yes grandkids increaced by three last year , hope your family is well. speak to u at length later.

  7. hi Snotty Yes the ram-rod goes with the gun,as to the gun makers name on the case, just looked and it is not there. I suspect ,either its missing or another orthentic case used in it,s place. Made of hard wood with brass bands around it, the key is there to the lock on the case, which is split and is not invery good condition. I was thinking about restoring it but thought better to leave alone.
  8. Hi all Its been a long time since I contributed to Pigeon Watch, so here goes. I have in my possesion a single barrel percussion muzzel loader by F.Barnes &co of London, which i,ve had for a number of years and wondered if anyone had any idear of its value. It has its own case with a powder flask/shot flask/action~lock remove clamp/small oilbottle & ramrod. I have shot it often over the years and enjoyed it immensley bringing down pigeons and crows on my forrays on varios farms. Ay information about this gun would be appreciated. KEEP SMOKING EM!!!!!!!

  11. Back again to continue I got stung buy bees/wasps who knows what but they stung , diving out of my hide began to run ,zap zap zap they kept stinging me. WHAT DO YOU DO , running into water came to mind HA! .Swatting at them I lost my hat zap zap zap now having no hat on they were stinging me all over ,off flew my glasses in the effort to brush them away now very frightened and shaking with terror flung myself on the groung and rolled up into a ball pulling my jacket over my head zap another blighter got me.Now shaking like a jelly wondering how long befor they give up. After a while got up and skirted my hide position made my way towards the farm, stumbling over ditches and fences till I got to the farm dipping my burning head under a cold water tap trying to ease the burning pain. My daughter laughing had to take me back to retrieve my glasses, imagine looking for a pair of specks with my MIOPIC vision in a stubble field . I found my speks and retrieved my gun and bid a hasty retteat from the scene of HORROR. On returning home relating this story ,after lotions and potions I should have gone to hospital having recieved so many stings but did not . Idid not suffer any after efects for my ordeal.
  12. GOT TO GO OUT TO BE CONTINUDE IT GETS BETTER
  13. It was a few years ago when my daughterwas working on a farm ,north warwickshire when i asked if she could obtain permission for me to shotot over some rape stubble. Well after being granted permission we set offofor the farm. On arriving she pointed the fields out to me and I set off with great expectations. I set up my hide in a likley poosition and my deeks in a horseshoe pattern, donned my DPM jacket ,hat and gloves. The weather was hot and after a while shot a number of pigeon, after a while I decided to moove taking some deeks with me up the field, where I shot a few pigeon. On returing to my hide on entering I was immeadiately attacked by some angry beasties
  14. : Good work taxi dave ,tell him when you intend to shoot there ,tidy up after you and report backto the farmer to le thim know how you done. And don,t forget a bottle at christmas time Good shooting and good luke for the future. Good relationship with farmers goes a long way. YOU KNOW IT MAKES SENCE !!!!! ====================
  15. In reply to topgunners, yes it was me ,[after reading Dave,s letter only two days ago], Daves severe repremand was aimed at. Yes I did shoot over a bean field they had shot over the Saturday previous. What was not mentioned that I have occationally shot over that farm , with the farmers permmision ,for many years. We arrived at that field, not finding birds on our regular farms, and got permmision to shoot it for the last few hours of the day. We were given permmision to shoot over other feilds of beans not knowing that Topgunners were going to shoot it, what with their many square miles of shooting in various counties. After phoneing his shooting buddy and getting a right ear bashing and was so taken aback by his agressive telling off,I appologised profusely about my unintentional conduct. So I was supprised to see Dave,s seering venomous attack on my self and my character. Any one who knows Dave would not knowingly get on the wrong side of him ,which I unintentionally did. I am not going to get in a mud slinging match with anyone, it,s not in my nature. I am just stateing the facts ,anyone who knows me knows I am a scincere honest person and would not knowingly do any one any hurt. I have been shooting that area for the past 40 odd years on and off,and enjoy a good rapor with the farmers in the area. Ihope my owning up to this misdermeaner has been,[after reading some of the comments from various members] to vindicate other shooters in the Coventry area who,s character may have been suspect. I hope this concludes the subject.

    Most rats

:( Hi all just bought a NV SCOPE especially for RATS. My first hunting foray where my son-inlaw is milking manager, and has a rat problem. In the past I have had them at dawn and dusk so I was expecting to bag a few. What a wash out not one to be seen. Anyhow we went to a farm near home and had a BLAST,without counting it was almost one shot per minute, they were everywhere, must have had about 60/70, The farmer told me he is going to clear away a lot of scrap metal ajasent to the cowshed where there are RAT run in abundance. So watch this space
  18. I was wondering if there is any legislation on the storage of shotgun ammo. will wecome feed back. TA
