  1. Top bargain there - tis a thing of beauty. well done that man!!
  2. is the right answer in my experience - they appear to be "butt hinges". As the linked article states, "flap hinges" have much more adjustment, and we have replaced most of our butts (!), with flaps (!!) now. they are available all over the internet, including the bay of fleas... On one particularly exposed and heavily used door, we put 5 flaps - a great improvement... ATB
  3. I am glad you bought the Toyota. Its my recommendation every time. I have a good pal with a 2006 auto, and you could eat your dinner off the chassis underneath, it is spotless. I would have one if I fitted in them ( very long legs = I don't ). We had a navara, from new. I will always advise anyone to avoid them. Even if they only have half the trouble we did. And in my experience, Nissan "customer service" are a complete joke. Best of luck with your truck. It looks really smart, and good value too!
  4. Agree on every count. I do wonder how long her hearing will last... but then I also wonder how long she will actually live for !! She is the last of the litter now..... mmm.... decisions, decisions !! Oh yeah, food will definitely work !! she has a better appetite than her four year old companion!! Thanks again the help
  5. Have you been to our local then Thanks for all the info... trying whistle first, then the collar if and when that doesn't, or stops working. Thanks again.
  6. Agree 100% - even at this advanced age - she is fine with learning "new" stuff - or more accurately taking directions in new ways - this is why we are bothering trying to help - she is the best working dog we have ever had, and I reckon, given the work she has saved me, that I owe her one. ( probably several, actually !! )
  7. When all the strays from miles around come running..... its working Thanks. will give that a go. Thanks for that too... will try the whistle first, and then, as necessary get her a collar.
  8. Thanks for that - do you mean the "535" ? even at £20 - its still peanuts. TIA
  9. Thanks for the reply I have actually been clapping to get her attention, and then hand signals to command - and god bless her, she is getting the hang of this quite well.. Just googled prices of dog whistles... blimey! £1 - £3 each - you're a bit reckless you are !!! Care to recommend a frequency for a collie ? TIA
  10. Right then, long story short, my current oldest Collie will be 15 in August. Pic attached! She is very definitely retired, but still in "good order", a few lumps and bumps, all of which have been biopsied and shown up as essentially irrelevant. Same Vet all her life, almost can't believe how well she is !! So, she probably has a few years left in her... hopefully good ones.. The problem, such as it is, is that her hearing is failing, so she "needs" a "deaf aid" !! could use a walkie talkie on a collar to enable us to get her attention when necessary..... And I am sure I can find a miniature one, so she doesn't need a neck brace to carry it Or, I have seen the shock collars that have a bleeper on - would this work ( NOT the shock bit !!! JUST the BEEP BEEP !!) Or ?? any one have any ideas Thanks for any help - she'll appreciate it.... Pardon?!?!??!?
  11. is the right answer. £340 for new drums and shoes !?!?!??! O/P:- Glad you went somewhere else - as Harnser said, rear drums do so little work, that it is almost always **** and Crud which causes a problem.
  12. one word for the lot of you....:- LINUX its FREE !!!
  13. I would suggest he tells his shooting organisation sharpish, and lodge his guns in the same vein.

    Moles

me too!! tis the all in one approach - kills mole, buries mole, and, er, "gets rid of" the mole hill too
  15. Absolutely, definitely do this. it is far more use than anything LR fitted. ( gazzillions of them on fleabay ) They left the factory in a mild state of tune, and will respond well to tweeks to the Bosch pump. you do need to watch for smoke though. IMHO, these engines are quite tolerant of high EGT, but there is a red line - and you will NOT know you are anywhere near, without the gauge, it until its too late.
  16. Amen to that. I am watching intently. I used to work for "them" - My conscience told me to leave:- thus, I left.
  17. Yep, thats it!! !! take it you had one too then!!?? I fitted an engine oil cooler to mine to "help" - shame it didn't!!
  18. I am sorry to hear about your wife. I am by no means a gardening expert, but years ago, I saved an apple tree by supporting the stem with roofing lath after it had snapped. it worked for several years, until I didn't pay enough attention to it, and the rope I had bound it all together with strangled the tree. the break was about 18 inches above the ground. Got to be worth a try - hopefully someone with some knowledge will be along shortly.
  19. Tractors, all fergy round the farm. and my dads series IIA, in which i passed my test first time - no lessons - dad wouldn't pay !!! first car I owned was an A35 - it was in a shed here until quite recently, and is currently being restored by a new owner!! Then a mini Clubman, then a mini clubman estate, then a triumph spitfire 1500 in brooklands green - nice thing, but prone to getting very hot under the bonnet...
  20. Agreed, its a gravy train of the most despicable kind They are all the blinking same - I was so tempted to "edit" this, to make my point, but given we all know, it wasn't worth doing
  21. Have a nosy here:- http://www.brightgreenenergy.co.uk/off_grid_homes.asp it will give you some idea of where the technology is going - guessing it will be better in a couple of years. IMHO, water supply is your principal issue - everything else has a fairly simple work around available now.
  22. Whilst this has been perceived as a bit obvious, or direct by some, I would have to agree with it. Case in point, we have an old working Collie, 14, and retired. As she has got older, she has become less tolerant of "certain" other dogs. It seems that the less Collie like the other dog, the more intolerant her response. She will play like a pup with other collies! Given her working pedigree, and the obvious obedience that goes with it, this has only really become an issue as she is now going slightly deaf, so, she goes on a lead now near other dogs. Since she has become myopic too (!), then it has become quite easy, because we see the other dogs before she does !!
  23. A very young age, and a terrible loss for his family, friends and for politics too. RIP.
  24. Yep, but being a Honda, is still a sweeet as sweet thing. Well done, a beautiful bike. hope you enjoy it
  25. Its NOT custard, promise you that !!
