  1. This is an interesting thread. I have just finished an hour on a little flight line. Ithought I had hit a pigeon but didn't see it go down as I was going for the second bird. driving home the bird I thought I had hit was on the road about 120 yards away from where I hit it. It just shows how far they can travel
  2. After a long time back and forward, I finally bought a Silver Pigeon 12g with 30" barrels last Saturday. I managed to christen it today. Never used 30" barrels before but I have to say it is beautifully balanced and swings real smooth. Putting it to the test on clays in the morning
  3. Thanks for all the replies gents. I think I might need to rethink my tactics with the misses and try to keep the semi. HB
  4. Unfortunately that is what I thought Fenboy. Thanks for the quick reply. HB
  5. Hi guys, Does any one use 20 guage for geese please? I want to treat myself to a 20 but will probably have to part chop my A400 Explor and so I will maybe loose the load capacity required. Cheers HB
  6. Try Icon Arms in Leicestershire HB
  7. Though about changing the mod but don't want to run the risk of spending dollar and still not getting anywhere. It could turn out to be expensive. HB
  8. My idea is to make a carbon fibre shroud and maybe some sort of light wait mod and make a new support ring. i use an aa mod and i am not happy with it being so loud. it is just an experiment at the end of the day and I realise it may not work at all. cheers HB
  9. I have got to wait for barley and wheat this oh and some beans. looking forward to it myself HB
  10. I have a S410 .177 carbine. Is the barrel floating or is it supported by the 'ring' around it and the cylinder? i want to try and shroud the barrel but don't want to change the dynamics of the barrel set up if I can help it. Thanks in advance. HB
  11. From my limited experience I would agree with everything already said. definitely build a strong bond - play is essential, get the dog to follow you while you walk around the house and outside. NEVER chase the dog or it will think that you chasing it is a great game and you will end up with major problems. If you have kids dont let them chase the pup. NEVER give your pup any task that it could fail on like blind retrieves or getting round an obstical that is too big. Be patient and consistant in your commands - make sure your family follows your commands and techniques fully Positive praise all the time even if the pup gets things a bit wrong. These are clever dogs and will want to please you so remember that you are building on their experience and skills all the time. Dont rush any thing, If the dog doesnt meet your expectation on a task then stop it straight away have a little play and come back to the training the following day. Joe Irving is a fantastic book and worth twice the money. Dont over train the pup, little and often. These are just a few of the things I have learned and been taught by people with more experience than me. Remember this is your dog so if it cant do what other dogs can, so what so long as you are happy and are enjoying your new friendship. Enjoy HB
  12. Those are some helpful answers, thank you all. HB
  13. As you will see from a separate post that we are looking at getting an 8 week old cocker bitch later this year but we already have a 19 month old ess. What are peoples thoughts on sharing training dummies? Could there be ownership/jealousy problems/ What about sent sharing problems? Or am i just being a bit too cautious? Cheers HB
