  1. Quality bit of kit, if I was in the market for a springer thats what I would go for (except I would go for .177!).
  2. I work the same 2 day, 2 night shift, 4 off pattern. I keep my dogs in kennels so they have company and my parents and Mrs are about for company so they are never left for too long. When I had a lab living in the house it really did moult at times, we was constantly hoovering!!!
  3. Hope you and Ozzy have many happy years!!!!
  4. Wish someone would give me one of these!!!!

I've heard good things about the R10 but i've never actually used one myself. My Dad nearly bought one not long back so I would have had a try of that. Personally I think .177 is the right choice of calibre, I would't buy anything else. My Wife let me go in a gun shop once....... now i'm closely guarded
  6. Pleased things are coming on Lee, sounds like a confidence thing to me. Eventually with practice the dog will learn to tell the difference between shot game and live game. Things like the shot smell stick to the bird and the dog will pick up on this.
  7. I bet he can tell some stories!!!! I hope I can get to 99. Hope he has a good one and many more yet.
  8. Sounds like you're going to have a great day (and season)!!!!!
  9. Thats an awesome bag mate, and free bullets also!
  10. Cracking pics folks. Also really sorry to hear about Alfie, I lost a lab at 4 1/2 and it really broke my heart.

These things happen mate, can't be helped. Not your fault really, she should't have let you go on your own!
  12. Take the brush off the bone when removing it. Cut the skin with a knife, place between two sticks and pull. The brush should hopefully come away and leave the bone on the fox (probably not the best explanation ever, sorry!)
  13. If they are reared and released then I would have no issues with shooting greys, uts the ones that are't I have issues with. Thats why I asked in my OP if they were reared.
  14. How did you get on at Woodend mate? I've been a couple of times, the indoor range is really handy (pity its not longer though!!)
  15. What do you call "some"? Considering the fact that numbers are known to be low is it not best to just leave them no matter where?
  16. Typical me, just found this thread!!!!
  17. Have to say I loved my CZ452 in .22. But then I had a break from shooting so I sold it. Next time when I get round to it i'll go for the same gun but in .17 HMR. It was deadly accurate on rabbits. I could't agree more with HDAV, put in for your SGC too!
  18. I'm seriously getted tempted to sneak a cocker into the kennels!!!
  19. Mate I agree, finding beating is hard work! And sooner or later every shoot is going to be short, so keep at it. Have you tried PUBs (Pickers up and beaters forum) its free and friendly. Thers also NOBs (National organisation of Beaters and pickers up) I think this is a fiver or £20 with shooting insurance although i've heard rumours (only rumours though!!) that the service isn't that great.
  20. Are you rearing Grey Partridge??? Should we really be shooting these considering the numbers of this cracking bird nationwide?
  21. That is stunning mate, truely stunning.......I want one!!!!
  22. Personally I would go for a .177 as the flatter trajectory is more forgiving when estimating range by eye. I think somebody earlier said that a regulator means the rifle will give you more shots per charge, this is true, but the idea of a regulater is that it regulates the air of every shot, i.e shot to shot power will be more consistant. There are ways to make a non regulated gun more consistant but it means chrono-ing each shot throughout a charge, recording the feet per second of each and then finding the mid ground of the power curve but thats off topic :look: If your any where near a FT of HFT club there may be someone there who will give you a charge or the club may charge your gun for a small fee.
  23. Thats a lovely piece of work, your collegue will be pleased.
