  1. I realise that probably most of the PW fraternity don’t have Red Squirrels in their area. Can I ask that you sign a petition started by a friend of mine who masterminded the removal of grey squirrels from Anglesey. The petition is to ask the Welsh government to have a debate supporting research into the production of a vaccine to be delivered to Red Squirrels which it is hoped will give Red Squirrels some protection from the fatal Squirrel Pox virus. This is the petition link and provided your in the UK your vote will be counted towards the target of 10000, whether you are living in Wales or not. https://theconversation.com/squirrelpox-outbreak-detected-in-north-wales-without-a-vaccine-the-disease-will-keep-decimating-red-squirrels-196811 Signing the petition will probably only take 30 seconds of your time. Thank you to all who will spare the time. This is the direct link to the petition https://petitions.senedd.wales/petitions/245357
  2. Well it’s good to have a new knee that’s working well. Out this morning -2c but beautiful. Red Squirrel happily having the breakfast which I had provided. It started twitching its tail and then a Grey appeared. 35 metres with the FAC FX Verminator and the Red can feast easy.
  3. I’m on catch up again. 8 for me and my friends, combination of shooting and trapping since my last post. This morning’s was a 615 gram male. Total 571
  4. Police only confirmed a change of address. Normal. Was it a rifle, or a shotgun? I’ve not seen anything other than a legally held firearm.
  5. I’m on catchup. Having had a replacement knee 4 weeks ago my friends have been active during my absence. 29 trapped or shot since my last post. 370
  6. Undoubtedly poor construction, but we’re not much better in many respects. Grenfell- I watched the fire in real time and new that Building Regulations had been compromised. Subsequently hundreds of properties were found to have similar problems. Clerk of Works, we don’t have them now in this country and with private Building Regulation contractors- it’s not far away from he who pays the piper calls the tune!
  7. I agree with your comments about .22lr. I think you’ll find 17hmr is already available in copper. Air rifles have lack of accuracy as well as terminal energy and will be virtually useless. I sent a response to HSE to their consultation. Interesting to note huge inaccuracies in the documents accompanying their consultation documents, with wild assumptions completely devoid of evidence.
  8. Just remember not to use the same piece of pipe to siphon the fuel out of your tank. 🤣
  9. Too much information 😳 Happy memories Catton? 👍👌
  10. Another male came for it’s last peanut this morning
  11. Another large male, 605 grams from a woodland feeder Total 35
  12. When I’m hunting I’m with you, if it’s a little bit further out just raise the barrel and put the cross hairs on the top of its back. Same works for me with foxing. It’s just experience.
  13. Out this morning before daybreak. Sitting under a bush opposite a woodland feeder. 8.15am using my thermal spotter I saw a grey come out of its drey about 100 metres away and after a little sit and preen it made its way to the feeder. 8.48am and it arrived for its last feed. A young male 470grams. That’s 3 from the same location in the past week.
  14. Another male, 575grams, trapped and dispatched in the garden this afternoon. Total 19
  15. Hopefully, I’ll have a chance to get out again before I go in for more surgery week after next. I’ve got a 6mm plate on a feeder, which stops a 17hmr. Does make a bit of a clang.
  16. Another 4 this week two to me and two by a friend. 3492 Anyone lurking about who hasn’t posted their cull numbers for 2022, we need a few to burst the 2021 totals
  17. We keep removing the interlopers that trespass into the Red Territory!
