How unlucky can a squirrel get. Just sitting in the armchair in our back room with the French doors open, Checked the Zero on my air rifle. Thunderstorm starts. Squirrel appears on the bird feeder above my target. There was a flash of lightening and the squirrel drops to the ground. I think it might have been the JSB Hades, rather than the lightening. Just in case you’re wondering about the knees, the cast comes off tomorrow after 8 weeks, can’t wait to get out and about again

You’d probably be dead if you hadn’t. A good friend of mine who has had a heart transplant, caught Covid a few weeks ago and didn’t know she had had it until her new heart started playing up. She went into hospital and after they had stabilised her heart they have said she is back to normal. They think it would have been a different story without the vaccination.

The word locally is that they have started their dispersal of young and are definitely on the move. Several trapped and shot this week by friends around here. The cast comes off my leg this week, then down to the Welsh Game Fair, with the Grey Area and British Red Squirrel. Then back out on the squirrels before too long.

I’ve seen Blue Jays in North Carolina, not really considered a pest though. Grey Squirrels and Ground Hogs are more of a nuisance to crops.

Well, what an amazing farewell speech! Job well done - Brexit - Pandemic - Ukraine. 👏👏👏 He was the right person in the right place at the right time. With the exuberance of that last speech from Downing Street it just shows the contrast between him and all the “nay sayers” who wanted him to be gone. He will be remembered long after we’ve forgotten others like Laura K.

I used one of those when visiting a friend in the States. She was being plagued by a family of Ground Hogs, which were chomping through her veg patch. It was open sights, a very nice, well balanced gun. Shot the buck with a single shot and the whole family moved off her land! Bargain at that price.
