  1. Hi lads/lasses, just had this from BASC Doctors should not claim payment for initial contact by police over shotgun or firearms applications New procedures have been introduced for how police and GPs in England and Wales share information about people who apply for shotgun or firearms licences. With immediate effect, the police will contact an applicant’s doctor to request medical information as soon as an application is received, rather than once a certificate has been issued. BASC is continuing to advise members not to pay fees requested by GPs for responding to this initial police contact. Police will no longer send GPs a form to complete and return about an applicant's medical history. Such fees should only become payable by the applicant if police subsequently request further medical information as a result of the applicant declaring a relevant medical condition, or if the GP indicates they have concerns relating to a relevant medical condition. Paul Dale, a member of BASC’s firearms team who has led on this issue for the association, said: “These are welcome changes and should improve the service being offered to applicants. “GPs now have clear guidance that if they do not respond to the initial police letter within 21 days it will be assumed they have no relevant information and therefore the application will be granted.”
  2. Hi PW, looking at a Xmas treat to myself and would like people's views good/bad, pros & cons, pitching the Nm800 red demon against the coyotelite. Thanks in Advance
  3. Hi All, Just wondering how others go about the logistics of an outing where more than 1 rifle is required for the session! For example: you're travelling to your permission for an evening of rabbit bashing, tool for the job = .22lr. knowing that later on the same evening, maybe at a different permission, your quarry will be Fox, tool for the job =.223. Both rifles in the motor, off you go! Now i know its not the done thing to leave any rifle unattended for any length of time, but when not using one, what do people do with the other when not in use?

  11. Wise words form Chuck Hawks Over spend, but don't over buy. This contradictory sounding advice is actually pretty good. Buy the very best quality optical sight you can afford, even if you have to scrimp to do it. However, don't buy more magnification, light grasp (objective size), weight and bulk than you actually need. Spend big bucks, but take a minimalist approach. The same applies to mounts. Avoid gimmicks and complexity; spend your money on solid, low height, quality mounts. Whatever magnification or type of optical sight best fits your needs, if you buy top quality sights and mounts you will not be disappointed.
