  1. poles i made worked a treat with a bird on the end i also made the rig to balance the decoy on the branches out of some 4mm wire which cost just over 3quid and some old lead i had laying around. After i lofted the decoys up i use an attachment on the lofting pole to put a floating decoy on the top so i can put this 25 to 30ft in the air so it looks like a bird is coming to land in the tree. It works well. I might even take it out when i go decoying and set it in a tree nearby just to see what it pulls in.
  2. Just found a load of ally tent poles on my inlaws scrapheep. Spent the afternoon makeing a 40ft lofting pole out of them, works a treat. Cheap and simple way to ad anougher dimention to your decoying.
  3. Must have seen around 1000 pigeons on winter wheat or barley and surrounding trees this afternoon, most pigeons ive seen in the area around Bale in north norfolk for a while. Drilling has started maybe in with a chance this weekend.
  4. Good luck after those pinks anser2. I to will be making the most of the last days of the wildfowling season.
  5. Have seen those pigeons in snoring to they where on the sugarbeet stubble at the time. sadly no permision there..... YET!
  6. Great vid mate really enjoyed it. cant help thinking of the ole dads army tho!!! up 2 3 bang 2 3 bang 2 3.
  7. I'm with Mr salt, AL391 with 1/2 or 3/4 choke does the job fine.Has to be a auto for hide work.
  8. Went for a little roosting yesterday afternoon to see if could bag a few. managed to get six and when i opened them up one was packed with ivy berrys, one with sugarbeet and one with grain. No rape here yet or i just didnt shoot the ones with rape in.
  9. I have read on anougher sites that a chap had a leaky jacket he sent it back to the uk distributers and they gave him a new replacment with a free beanie hat worth over £20 to make up for the postage when he returned the leaky one.
  10. The beating trip was a complete success and i am very happy with the smock. It was a cold very frosty morning when we started out and i was warm and toasty only wearing a t-shirt a normal button up shirt and a thin mole skin waistcoat underneath. Half way through morning it began to sleet and snow, this had no effect on the smock i was never to hot or to cold. I am yet to try the smock out on the wilds of the north Norfolk marsh but i hope to this coming week. The smock allows for great freedom of movement and laughed in the face of thick brambles and thorns. For quite a cold day this was a perfect bit of kit. Is there a difference in the material from my smock to your Eider as the smock is a medium weight top and looking at the labels preforms well in tempratures from -6,C to 15,C could you jackets be for harder weather? All told the smock is fantastic so far.
  11. Just taken delivery of my new riverswest field pro smock qnd cannot belive the how light this new material is. Went out in the rain that has been gracing Norfolk and probably the rest of the country this afternoon and was bone dry and snug and warm. The smock is easy to move in and has ample space in all pockets. I will be using this mostly for wildfowling but am going beating tomorrow so it will have a good work out. First impressions of this is a big thumbs up and i cant belive that rivers west give you a years rip and wear guarante and a massive 10 year water proof guarante. Time will tell how good this product realy is has anyone had one for any lenth of time or worn one up i am fairly hard on my fowling gear and hope this can handle it.
  12. Shot some at roost this afternoon all full of ivy berrys and maize no rape yet.
  13. Watched a few pigeons coming on to a rape field this morning but i think its down to the wind keeping them out of trees.
  14. Looking at getting some of chris greens floating decoys. Has anyone got or had the chance to use any of these? how are you getting on with them have they worked well. has any one used any of his decoys?
  15. Hello everyone, i am new to the Pigeon Watch forum so please bare with me if this is a stupid question. Around where i shoot the are strips of sunflowers that are grown for a stuardship for field and song birds. I have noticed that a few pigeons have began to feed on the fallen plants. Has anyone ever shot over them before how did it go?
