ya lads your all right i'm afraid. I'm lucky enough to have learned my trade back late 80's early nineties when everybody went outside to see a big V of greylags heading south and they wouldn't even give Orkney a 2nd glance. But i'm afraid the new generation of wildfowler(or should I say somebody with a gun) are very spoilt now its seems to be a poor morning if you only shoot 15. But it is the way things are now and we have to get on with it. As for more people coming here to shoot I think they are beginning to struggle. I spoke to one crew last week that were willing to pay me for a field I booked with a farm for the cull. I told him to check fields sooner than the night before he wanted to shoot it. must be desperate before you need to buy somebody else's permission eh? LOL. That's the cull finished now and I think the 3 teams had just under 2000 geese for the two months just under a 1000 shot in the west mainland alone. not confirmed the numbers from commercial parties from September yet but I have a meeting in November so I will know more then. The freezers are well stocked with the culled birds so hopefully there will be sausages and burgers for a peedie! while yet.

I think he can only process so many as he has a small scale facility this year and I think the west boys are shooting to many

they are not being wasted this year the Scottish government have granted a few of us special licenses to sell the meat. A local butcher up here is making burgers and sausages and they have been flying off the shelves. The meat can only be sold from birds that are shot in the cull by the cull team members tho

yes you are right and I am very much that kind of guy and that's why I have kept shtoom until know, just fed up with being slaged off via the internet and worried if I ask why in person that the rozzers might be on speed dial

o.k you take it the way you want but like I said I apologize for any offence and didn't have a problem with you until you expressed your views against me and other people on face book and this site that have nothing to do with you I guess I should have said please stop having a go at me just for who I do part time work for to help with my bills and that's it. you can say what you like against anybody that is your right but you speak about manners and bumpkins but your manners against me and other innocent farmers that just need geese kept off valuable crops kind of makes you a hypocrite. I have done nothing that should concern you it just makes me annoyed that by your comments on this site makes me out be be some kind of mad man making threats to people and shooting what and where I like and that's not the case. and everybody that I know that shoots here continue to ask me about it. I have worked for the Italians for three years now and haven't been asked to do anything illegal yet and if I was the answer would be no all day long. I enjoy shooting far to much to risk it and that would be the end of my shooting trips to Aberdeenshire. I enjoy taking the tourists out and as yourself I have met some very interesting people and wouldn't change it for the world

well where do I start with this. it was you who slagged me off because I was working for the Italians and you don't even know me so strike me down for trying to earn some money in the winter by doing something I enjoy. I also do not think anyone is god I just have respect for somebody who has trusted me with a job. now the police comment, my cousin works as an officer here and he told me not to react on sites like these while there was court cases concerning you has they were watching them which I passed on to your neighbour so he might mention it to you as a lot of your so called friends were worried about you I thought it might be of some help. now im sorry if you took it the wrong way but if you wish to spend your life on social networking sites you will pick up the wrong end of the stick now and again. I do not know when I have supposed to have suggested violence but if it was a comment about rolling a bale on you when you were sleeping when you were supposed to be wildfowling that was banter also with your so called friends and I don't see you slagging them off behind a computer. so will you please stop writing **** about me as all my shooting friends plus your neighbours keep telling me what you write and its getting a bit old and whats the craic with calling me a AAA grade bumpkin. well sorry again but if you think that living in the country and owning a farm constitutes being a AAA grade bumpkin you have just slagged off 70% of the island what you are an incomer in. so if you have a personal problem with me please stop past and i'm sure we can sort it out but if it is only because of who I work for then I cannot sort out your views for you. yours sincerely AAA grade bumpkin(hard working Orkney farmer lol). And foxman you bring up a very good point me and my friends have also had a lot of problems with mainland shooters not asking for permission and setting up camp where we have permission to shoot which is armed trespass which you have to quote to these people and it is only going to get worse as the years go by. I am envolved in the cull up here and I fear its going to be the only trouble free shooting we are going to get!!
